17.01.2022 Nature Heals ~ Memories of my past. Today on my beach walk with a dear friend, I came across this beautiful abolone shell and some "pussy willows" - which is what my siblings and I would call them growing up. Seeing these today, brought back beautiful memories as a child, being with my x2 sisters and x2 brothers and parents, spending January in Inverloch at Broadbeach Caravan Park. We would collect the "pussy willows " on our ice cream walks in the evening and change their ...colour with food dye. Our cousins would come and visit and we would have some amazing adventures! Unfortunately the relationship that I have with one brother and my sister's is strained & fractured, I send them love , knowing that as children we had some amazing times together. Recently I had a online Kinesiology session with a new client in Western Australia - a new Mother with her beautiful new baby boy. The feedback from the session was beautiful . So very proud of Darcy and how far she has come and love her new release. Being a musician, isn't an easy gig, it takes lots of love, passion and determin...ation. I grew up living & breathing and playing an instrument & Music. My father - a professional musician, was always teaching and playing gigs in Victoria and interstate, starting with the family band "The O'Dowd Family Show Band" ( all of his siblings x13, learnt an instrument and played in the band) and then ventured out on his own. Music you could say, runs in our veins as a family, it has been passed down the generations - my children included. At family gatherings, there's always someone with an instrument and a song to be sang, it is what binds us together as a family. 08.01.2022 A big shout out to my fellow School Nurses and the amazing work they do supporting not only the Wellbeing of the Students, but also the Teachers and all staff. One of the areas that I have worked in, is a School Nurse both in Primary and Secondary schools. Little did I know that this area of Nursing and the experience and knowledge, would be so valuable in supporting the emotional and physical wellbeing of my Primary & Secondary school age Clients. ... One student I remember (secondary school age) who was a frequent visitor to the Health Center, did not want to be at this school, he wanted to go where his friends went, he didn't like the long journey commute to school (over an hour) and therefore he was not happy or felt settled and this was reflected in his behaviour at school. He would visit the Health Center and sit and chat about how he was feeling, knowing that he was in a safe place and felt heard. Then one day he came bouncing into the Health Center ~ a very different boy than I had seen, he said " Miss, I have great news, I'm changing schools and will be with my friends and can ride my bike to school." You couldn't wipe the smile off his face, his last term at this school was his best both academically and emotionally/behavioral. He knew that he had been heard, he was feeling more confident within himself and his energy had shifted - feeling more positive about his future. I can still remember his beautiful face and his beautiful words of "Thankyou Miss for listening. " A School Nurse is more than tending to a bump, a cut, an allergic reaction or anaphylaxis, it's focusing of the Holistic Health of the Student- being there for the Student and their welfare. . 05.01.2022 Time Yesterday I spent some beautiful Time with My Dad after 5mths of not being abke to see him due to COVID lockdown. He is such an amazing beautiful human. The time that I spend with him, is so treasured and yesterday's visit went by so quickly and I didn't want the time to end. I love learning from him and yesterday I learnt about my birth name ~ Kathleen. I was named after his mother's sister Kathleen, whom he loved dearly and last saw her when he left Dublin as a youn...g boy before migrating out to Australia. We spoke about his times as a little boy and his memories growing up in a large Irish Catholic family ~ my heritage. Time either goes way too fast or too slow. Meditation comes in all different kinds of ways to go about it, for me it's either being mindful on a run or a walk, or taking some time to be still with my breath or playing my singing bowls to calm both my mind and body.
