23.01.2022 So let’s talk Ballkids you know, those awesome, unsung heroes of the tennis court, who, if you didn’t know, actually run the show out there? Yep, that’s right run the show. & here you were thinking the umpires & players were in charge! So did you know that the Ballkids use a series of non-verbal head nods and hand signals to identify where each and every ball is on court? & that they can anticipate the movement of the ball based on two potential outcomes for the point (e....g player A winning, or player B winning). Or that they are specifically taught how to handle towels so that they avoid any area of the towel that is sweating? The GOLDEN RULE of being an AO Ballkid is ‘Always service the player first’ and they do that with a huge sense of pride, determination & enthusiasm. The Get Active Kids Voucher Program helps eligible families get their kids involved in organised sport and recreation activities by reimbursing the cost of membership and registration fees, uniforms and equipment.
