25.01.2022 Mum, what I am you helped me become To all our amazing Mother’s and Grandmothers, today is your day. Happy Mother’s Day
23.01.2022 This week our Murray room will be embarking on some chain dot painting inspired by Wilcannian Artisit Eddy Harris and engage in a group time singing and tapping sticks to the song Inanay. Why chains you ask? Well chains are a symbol of connection and attachment, a powerful and lasting unity between entities and for the children to understand their sense of belonging in the community and their connections to the Kinfolk Albury family is very important
22.01.2022 Educators; A multitasking educational rockstar, who listens, loves and inspires. Happy Early Educators Day to the incredible team at Kinfolk and to our fellow Educators across the globe #todayisforyou

19.01.2022 Letter and name recognition has been a huge interest for our 3 year old Pre-Schoolers in River room. I had the pleasure of sitting down with Henry who told me Bip, did you know I can find my name Henry not only went on to pick the letters out of his name, but he also recognised his surname and his mum and dads names, in which he proudly said at the end I did it, I did all our names. That’s my family
18.01.2022 Our Red Gum room acknowledges the Wiradjuri people as the traditional custodians of the Albury region and pay our respects through learning about traditional story telling. Illustrative story telling has been an interest as we learn about traditional cave paintings. We created our own paint by mixing herbs and spices to add texture. Each child painted their own stories and were given the opportunity to narrate their pictures to their educator which helped build on their story telling and literarcy skills.
18.01.2022 Our 3 year old Banjo children have been interested in their family dynamics, self portraiture and have been eager to know who’s birthday is when. Their current project has been to discuss this at their morning meeting, followed by drawing themselves and their family and as you can see document this in a beautiful, respectful way to also include their birthdays. They will continue to revisit this as families grow throughout the year.
18.01.2022 This is a picture for my GG. I can’t see her. So we are posting it to her ~ Jay, aged 4 Our pre-schoolers in our #RedGum room have been busy doing drawings and writing letters to send to their grandparents and to local aged care facilities. We can only hope this puts a smile on their face during these uncertain, trying times
17.01.2022 #EarthDay Educator Tilly came to us with a brilliant project concept for earth day that involved each room. For the past 2 weeks Tilly was given time and resources to create this canvas piece using natural items gathered and collected locally. Tilly also captured the journey through photos and videos, documenting from start to end across the wall in our project space. ... Be sure to stop by and check it out
16.01.2022 Life is a combination of magic and pasta ~ Federico Fellini Our #HumeRoom today experienced making their very own pasta and passata sauce with our amazing chef Kimmy. This interest was sparked by the children asking about pasta and how it was made when spaghetti meatballs were on the menu earlier this week. How lucky we are to have Kimmy, who is not only a fab cook but also to create magic in her cooking lessons.
16.01.2022 We are all in this together #rainbowtrailaustralia
14.01.2022 The documentation, just like the children’s processes, it’s never finished. It is a tool that is fluid, that helps us to give structure to our thinking and doing about children ~ Francesca Mandredi #reggioemiliaapproach #documentation #childinterest #kinfolkearlylearning #pedagogy #humeroom
14.01.2022 This week we have celebrated Diwali with colour, lights, decorations, and delicious food. Thank you to our families and staff who contributed to these celebrations and shared their culture and traditions.
10.01.2022 Wise words..."Take time. Make time" Relationships, connectedness and readiness at the front end, pay off at the other end Today, and everyday Kinfolk Albury strives to go on a forever journey towards reconciliation for all Australians, as individuals, families, communities organisations and importantly, as a nation.... We pledge to provide a culturally safe environment where there is no challenge or denial of their identity of who they are or what they need. To have shared respect, shared meaning, shared knowledge and experience of learning, living and working together, with dignity, and truly listening. We are listening, we are learning and we will stand with you. #reconciliationweek #inthistogether
09.01.2022 Home Corner Heaven We had a team challenge over the past week. The brief was; "Cosy like Grandma’s house" ~ With an upcycle twist ~... The team was set to raid op shops, old cupboards and family members houses. Reuse, Recycle and Revamp. We also took some inspiration from our current working from home climate How are we going to pick a winner?!
08.01.2022 This week in the Millewa room the children are painting some Gum nuts using Yellow, Red and Black paint, which are used to represent the Aboriginal Flag. The land on which we live and work always was and always will be, Aboriginal Land. The rich soil with over 65,000 years of resilience; our spirits are guided by our ancestors as we walk across the land, at one with our wildlife, our people and respecting our sacred sites to preserve our culture, the longest continuing culture in the world. We are a nation of nations, our culture running deep within and around us all - Story by Rachael Sarra
08.01.2022 Wombat Stew by our Banjo Room. Teacher Kate’s imagination and creative bones run so deep when it comes to providing resources and table set ups for the children. Everything you can see in this provocation is either hand drawn, collected in nature or sourced outside the box to make this experience for the children. This table also flowed into a group story where the children were all involved in making the Wombat Stew using the resources available. #educators #amazingeducators #wombatstew #reggioemiliainspired
08.01.2022 Our Ed Leader Bec kicked off Science Week by declaring "how cool is science"? It seems like the children agree, they have had a week full of hypothesising, investigating, experimenting, testing and a whole heap of fun! Science Week aims to encourage an interest in science pursuits among the general public, and to encourage younger people to be fascinated by the world we live in. How could we not be?
08.01.2022 Science is so much FUN! The children have spent the week experimenting, discovering and having WOW moments as we celebrate #scienceweek
07.01.2022 Red Gum’s take pride in continuously acknowledging Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander’s history and culture. However, in recognition of NAIDOC week, we have drawn a closer focus to the Dreamtime story, ‘The Rainbow Serpent’. The children have worked together to create a collaborative art piece that represents the Dreamtime creature. As well as creative expression, this art work has enabled the children to familiarise themselves with Indigenous symbols and how to use them in their own story telling. It has also provoked discussions about the passing down of stories through generations.
07.01.2022 One-touch of Nature makes the whole world kin Our Redgum room have been exploring botanicals and how they can be mixed with different natural elements. We are a little in love with the end product

04.01.2022 Millewa room exploring how to print colour from botanical materials using edible root vegetables and spices. Using hammers they squished fresh turmeric pieces and beetroot from the Preschool garden, creating beautiful yellow and purple colours
03.01.2022 You may have seen or be seeing some changes in branding around the centre. We are still Kinfolk, we are still us. We are fortunate enough to embark on an exciting, new journey with Guardian Childcare and Education and we look forward to being a part of a larger community that shares the same passion and principles as us and continuing to provide the Albury region with our Reggio Emilia inspired education and care.
02.01.2022 This week, Kinfolk celebrates Reconciliation Week! Grounded in Truth Walk Together with Courage National Reconciliation Week (NRW) is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.... At Kinfolk we are actively committed to reconciliation through; establishing and nurturing respectful relationships with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, providing opportunities for children to explore and understand Indigenous culture, customs, art, and beliefs, engaging with local Indigenous community groups and activities, acknowledging and respecting that Kinfolk operates on Wiradjuri Country, providing a welcoming and inclusive community for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, families and staff. Reconciliation must live in the hearts, minds and actions of all Australians as we move forward, creating a nation strengthened by respectful relationships between the wider Australian community, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
02.01.2022 In the Macauley room we have embarked on a journey to represent NAIDOC by setting up a provocation depicting the Aboriginal flag with different textures and materials. Our children will be learning more about the flag and the colours it represents. The children will also be emulating different symbols and will be learning about each symbol and what it signifies.
