16.01.2022 The Oil Rag The oil rag is a an affordable and natural alternative to stainless steel polishing. The oil rag acts a natural shiny lubricant on Stainless steel whilst eliminating odor and dull spots. Stainless steel polishes are highly flammable and contain high doses of harmful chemicals. Not the greatest idea if you have young children around the house. Below are a list of steps for applying the oil rag for maximum effectiveness. ... 1) Place a clean and dry microfiber in a bowl or container of olive oil. Allow the cloth to soak. 2) Use a dry cloth to clean the area you wish to polish. Making sure you alleviate the area of dirt and grime. If you skip this step the oil will collect the dirt and grime and cause clumps. 3) Once the oiled cloth is soaked. Take it out of the bowl of container and strain excess oil off the rag leaving it damp but not soaked. 4) With an open hand wipe over the area evenly, then once you have done this wrap the cloth double folded around 2 fingers and use a circular motion wipe the oil into the metal. 5) The last step is to use toilet tissue (due to the fact it is smooth and soft and will not mark or leave impressions) to wipe of excess polish. Now you have completed the steps listed above you should now be left with nice smelling shiny Stainless steel that is safe for the home.
