24.01.2022 Hi everyone just a heads up, we are looking at closing the Vet Clinic between Christmas and new years so please if you need any medication for that period come in and grab it, I won't be able to order anything after Tuesday next week and get it here before christmas.

23.01.2022 Its that time of the year again!! Calves are marked, Christmas is a distant memory and the bulls are either out or soon to be, depending on your particular production system. Now we're onto our busiest time of the year as Cattle Vets, getting geared up for preg testing. After already scanning in Victoria in the last month and with over 8000 head already booked in, my eye is in and spots are filling up quickly. So to ensure that you get the time-slot that best suits you and to... get your heifers done before everyone else, give us a call to book in. With the ultrasound scanner we can accurately and efficiently scan down to 40 days after the bulls come out. Technically I can see them down to 33 days, but with them being smaller than a pea, they do take a bit of finding at that age! For bookings call Lashay or Sue at the clinic on 6462 1550. Cam. 22.01.2022 A feel good story for your Friday !!

21.01.2022 Cows are amongst the gentlest of breathing creatures; none show more passionate tenderness to their young when deprived of them; and, in short, I am not ashamed to profess a deep love for these quiet creatures. - Thomas De Quincey

20.01.2022 STAY HOME! If all doctors and nurses get sick, veterinarian and vet nurses may have to look after you! And you do know how we take temperatures right?! ... You have been warned

20.01.2022 Wednesday Week I will be giving a talk at the King Island Pub with the topic of All things Bulls and The Management of Calf Scours. It is an evening presented by myself in conjunction with The King Island Beef Producers Group. There will be a sit-down meal during the talk. I'm going to try and make it as relevant and practical as possible with a focus on what I encounter day to day on King Island specifically. Please RSVP to Belinda Smith by this Friday for catering purposes and COVID requirements. Hope to see you there. Thanks. Cam.

10.01.2022 Morning everyone, firstly we hope you are all well and staying safe, due to the ongoing crisis we are all living through, we wanted to reach out and let you know what's happening with the vet hospital. We are open and will continue to be open unless directed otherwise by the government. If you need medication for your pet and don't want to come into the clinic or are in isolation, please give us a call and we will arrange something for you, either to leave them outside upon y...our arrival or a mailbox drop. If you need to bring your pet in for a consult but don't want to come inside the clinic we can either do a car park consult or take your pet inside for you to do the examination. Our main aim is to keep the 4 legged and the 2 legged healthy and happy during this pandemic. We are all in this together.

07.01.2022 Merry Christmas Everyone

07.01.2022 PREGNANCY TESTING UPDATE Morning everyone, Pregnancy testing has gone very well so far this year with many producers achieving good to great results across their herds. This has primarily been due to the exceptional season we have had and more and more producers choosing to bull test their bulls. We also conducted a few experiments at joining which worked fairly well with respect to bull joining rates and joining times.... As we get closer to the end of the season this is just a shout out to anyone who hasn’t as yet booked their cows in. We are still taking bookings up to the 8th May. For any bookings or enquires please call the clinic on 6462 1550. Thanks. Cam.

06.01.2022 Merry Christmas Everyone, if you need any medication for your fur babies before Christmas please let me know asap.

04.01.2022 Romeo is looking for his forever home, extremely affectionate, young, castrated man is looking for a new home, he’s used to being inside and outside, loves nothing more than a smooch and some loving, if you can offer him a wonderful loving home contact me at the vet clinic on 64621550 or Via messenger

03.01.2022 Bull Breeding Soundness Examinations Today I was out and about on farm bull testing with 38 bulls tested. It could easily be argued that bull testing is as important if not more important than preg testing when it comes to the profitability of your enterprise. During this assessment, the bulls are looked over physically for any structural issues, testicles palpated and measured, rectal performed to check the accessory sex glands, examination of the penis and erection, and fin...ally a full semen assesment crushside. This is all presented in a report for each bull. It is amazing what you pick up from lameness issues to corkscrew penises to poor semen. August is a great time to have your bulls tested with enough time to find replacements if any fail. And it’s certainly better to identify the passengers now then at preg testing when it’s way too late. Prevention is always better than cure. The cheapest insurance to prevent a poor conception rate you can buy. To book in call the clinic on 6462 1550.

03.01.2022 This gentleman is looking for a new home, he’s castrated and ready to go, his only vice is eating the neighbours chickens so if you live in a chicken free area this could be your new friend.

01.01.2022 Tassiecat have asked us to share their videos on responsible cat ownership, just a reminder if you are thinking about microchipping your animals its $25.00 and they are registered for life with an Australia wide company.

01.01.2022 For those people with bulk toilet rolls, watch your furry friends around them ha ha ha But on a serious note, everyone please look after yourselves and each other in these crazy times x
