25.01.2022 We would just like to thank our clients for the response to our last post. Most people are being very respectful of the social distancing guidelines and are going above and beyond to look after Ewan, after all, if he becomes unwell we will be unable to provide your horses with care. In light of the new 2 people gathering together rule we will have to be very strict in enforcing that only one person can be present at consultations. Stay safe everyone

22.01.2022 And we are off....... Ewan will be away from now until Monday 17th June. We will not be contactable by phone or text but will endeavour to answer e mails within 48 hrs. Alternative vets who have agreed to cover emergencies are: Eileen Wronski (Huonville) 0435033039 Catherine Charlton (Tea Tree) 0488773180 Libby Cooper (New Norfolk) 0419306182.

21.01.2022 In an effort to stay home as much as possible KEV will be on call for emergencies only over the Easter break. Please call and leave a message and we will get back to you. Have a lovely Easter, stay safe and stay home

21.01.2022 Happy New Year to all our wonderful clients and their horses. Here’s to a happy and healthy 2020

20.01.2022 Good Morning. To allow us to keep looking after our clients in this present situation we are going to have to implement a few rules and restrictions for the safety of everyone. Please only have one person present at consultations to hold the horse. ... We would appreciate it if that person could wear gloves (normal gloves are fine) just to reduce accidental skin to skin contact if the horse misbehaves. Please keep as much distance as possible between yourself and the vet. This is for your safety as well as his. Please inform us BEFORE your appointment if you are unwell, are supposed to be in isolation after being over seas or inter state or if you have been in contact with someone who has Covid 19. Following these points will help ensure that we can continue to provide as normal a service as possible for as long as possible as this unprecedented situation unfolds. Have a lovely day and enjoy the Autumn sunshine

19.01.2022 Some great advise on what to do if your horse treads on something that penetrates into their foot from a great Equine Hospital in the UK.

19.01.2022 Wishing you all a relaxing and happy Christmas whether you have two legs or four. Ewan will be on call over the Christmas period for emergencies only for our existing clients. Take a leaf out of Roy here’s book and take it easy

18.01.2022 During this difficult time it is even more important to know what is normal for your horse. When your horse seems off colour or not eating and you call the vet it would be really helpful if you can give them as much information as possible. A basic TPR (temperature, pulse and respiration) can provide a useful insight into their condition. An adult horses temperature can be anywhere from 36.5 to 38 degrees Celsius. Respiration rate should be under 24 but can be quite lo...w if they are resting. Pulse rate should be between 36 to 42 beats per minute. If you have a stethoscope use it just behind the horses left elbow. If not you can feel a pulse by feeling gently under the horses jaw or sometimes by lying your hand on the girth area behind the left elbow.

15.01.2022 Time is marching on so remember, if you think you will run out of any repeat medications for your horses between the 29th May and the middle of June get in touch now as Ewan will be overseas and unable to provide them during that time. Thanks
