21.01.2022 In honour of Remembrance Day, we take a look into the past of the SS Maheno. Built in Scotland in 1905, the luxury cruise ship was one of the first turbine-driven steamers and one of the fastest ships of her time. The Maheno was commissioned as a hospital ship in Europe during World War I, also serving in the Mediterranean and Red Sea.... Later, while being towed to Japan for scrapping, the Maheno met an unseasonal cyclone and was washed ashore on the eastern coast of Fraser Island, on July 8th, 1935. This historic hull is now a significant landmark along 75 Mile Beach. We will remember them.

14.01.2022 It was a beautiful day to be on #FraserIsland at the Kingfisher Bay Resort Long Lunch! Proceeds from today’s event and auction went to LifeFlight, with Airforce Officer John Kennedy sharing the life-saving work of this amazing charity. We also had a special appearance from 1995 Queensland State of Origin legends Billy Moore, Gary Larson and Tony Hearn, who told stories from that iconic match, and their sporting careers ... Thank you to all of our guests for joining us island-side - here’s to the next event in 2021!

11.01.2022 We’d like to reassure our guests that Kingfisher Bay Resort remains open and is safe for travellers to visit. There is a bushfire at the northern end of Fraser Island, currently affecting access to some of the camping sites. However, this fire is being closely monitored by Queensland Parks & Wildlife Services and is a safe distance from Kingfisher Bay Resort and the island’s iconic attractions. The fire currently poses no threat and all guest experiences are running as norma...l, including guided sightseeing on the island. Guest safety is our priority and we will advise if there are any further updates that may affect your booking. We're partnering with RACQ LifeFlight Rescue - Queensland’s leading community helicopter service, whose purpose is to save lives and support Queenslanders during their time of need. Tickets are $100pp and include a three-course meal with return ferry transfers. All proceeds from the event, including raffles and auctions are being donated to the charity. ... The Long Lunch is always a highlight on the local calendar, and this year will be no exception!
