There are better ways to log off If you're using a laptop at work, library, university that's not yours, remember to keep your online accounts safe at all times by logging out. I'm sure you've seen a few Facebook posts about your friend's account got hacked by their friend, partner or even hackers and it could be very dangerous if they have access to all your personal data. ... We all know staying logged into your favorite apps and services makes sense most of the time because it's annoying to enter your password every single time you check Facebook, Instagram, emails etc. The problem is that having your apps unlocked makes it easier for someone who picks up one of your devices to get into your accounts. If you suspect an unauthorized person is poking around your digital life whether it’s a remote hacker working from a data breach or a relative borrowing your Netflix password, take back control by quickly logging out of all open sessions except for one you’re in. In fact, even if you think your accounts are safe, it’s always a good idea to do this regularly (once every month or so), just to make sure you’re the only one with access to your apps and services. If you want to go the extra mile while you’re at it, make sure third parties are well and truly excluded by changing your password.

12.01.2022 How do you know if your PC hard drive is failing? Every one of us owns precious files like personal documents, photos or videos and we typically store them on hard drives. There are very few people realise that most electronic storage devices including hard drives have a limited lifetime. The average lifetime of a stationary hard drive today is around 5 to 10 years depending on the type and manufacturer and it rapidly declines if the drive is subject to strong variations in ...temperature, humidity and motion. With almost every component in your PC, you’ll see warning signs of a part going bad and in need of replacement. The hard drive is not an exception. Here are some signs to look out for: 1) Disappearing files: Files can be lost due to mechanical problems with the disk itself. In some cases, you’ll be able to tell as the disk usually makes some loud noises when things are going haywire. 2) Frequent freezes: These are very unspecific signs that can be caused by a million different things. However, regardless of what the issue behind these symptoms is, it is recommended that you immediately make a backup. If these problems occur after a fresh installation or in Windows Safe Mode, it is almost certain that it is due to bad hardware, and possibly a failing hard drive. 3) Corrupted data: If you’re beginning to find files that fail to open or if it contains corrupted data, even though the file saved without errors or if files suddenly disappear, you should get worried. While this could be due to a multitude of issues, it is also a typical sign for a gradual hard drive failure. 4) Bad sectors: A sector on a hard drive stores a certain amount of data accessible by the user. There are two types of sectors, a hard and soft sector. In most cases, Windows is able to repair a soft bad sector as it’s almost always related to a software mishap. Formatting the drive will almost always fix this. But, if it’s a hard bad sector, this indicates physical damage which cannot be repaired. 5) Sounds: If your hard drive is making sounds that you aren’t familiar with, this could also be bad news, particularly if it’s a grinding or screeching noise. If your PC has more than three symptoms above, please back up all your data immediately to an external source to prevent any data loss.
