14.01.2022 We are all learning to adapt in a time where we can’t get out to meet all kinds of different people from many different areas. One of the ways we have decided to explore new connections is by sending off letters Our Gum Tress children have been very busy creating letters for another early childhood centre in Baxter, which is a small town on the Mornington Peninsula (Baxter Childcare Centre). The children have had conversations with their educators about some questions they... would like to ask the children such as ‘what toys do you have?’ and letting them know who their best friend is. We are super excited to send these off and look forward to getting our replies in the mail box

14.01.2022 We understand how it may feel annoying to constantly be washing your child’s clothes after a day at childcare/kindergarten because they are dirty... but did you know that there are many benefits for your child’s development through messy play? Physical - Hand eye coordination. - Body control, poise and balance.... - Fine and gross motor skills. Mathematical - Sequencing and patterns. - Opportunities for counting and sorting. - Concepts of size, shape and mass. Social And Emotional - Natural curiosity. - Choice and independence. - Positive attitudes towards new experiences. Understanding Of The World - Role play and story telling. - Appropriate risk taking and experimenting. - Cause and effect knowledge. Literacy - Exposure to vocabulary. - Confidence in communicating. - Open ended questions. Creativity - Using different materials to foster imagination. - Colour, shape and texture exploration. - Individual interpretation. Next time your child is making a mess, sit with them and engage with what they are doing, you will be pleasantly surprised with what you hear and see from them!
