22.01.2022 As part of our Grade 4/5/6 remote learning our children were asked to write letters to a community service to thank them for how they help us. Jack wrote to the Kinglake Police and as well as a tour of the station, received this letter back.

16.01.2022 WOW we have some master chefs at Kinglake West Primary School. Check these photos out.... Thursday Family Challenge from 3rd September. This week’s challenge will, hopefully, provide an opportunity for some family bonding and excitement but will also provide a tasty family treat. Today the children of the house are to create a cake or slice for the family to enjoy. It can be made from scratch, be a packet mix or an old family recipe (you can Google some great recipes). The ...cake can have parental advice and you can explain what has to be done but unless it is dangerous (cutting up something, using an electric mixer or removing a cake from the oven) it must be made by the children with no adult physical assistance. The children need to do the measuring, crack the eggs, pour the mixture in the pan. Once the cake or slice is cooked it needs to be decorated in an interesting way, photographed for the Facebook or put on Seesaw (I don’t get to see them on Seesaw) and then enjoyed by the family. Have fun with the challenge and enjoy the product! See more

04.01.2022 Here is our FAMILY CHALLENGE THURSDAY from last week and some of the great creations.... Measure out a square that has sides 2 metres by 2 metres. This can be done inside or outside but there are different rules depending on where you are. Inside the 2 metre by 2 metre square you are to create a picture of all of the people who worked on this project. Inside the house picture... If you create the picture inside it must be made using materials that are usually found inside a house. Suggestions here would be Cans from the cupboard fruit spaghetti cake mixes and other boxes chairs teddies clothing pillows cushions remote controls CD’s mugs plates cutlery and cooking utensils blankets Outside the house picture If you create the picture outside of the house it must be made using materials that are usually found outside a house. Suggestions here would be sticks a scratch in the dirt stones Grass A hose Garden statues Leaves Tools from a shed Dog bowls Bark Firewood Paint cans Pine needles Pot plants Pets (good luck making them stay still!) There are so many things you can try but they must come from inside or outside the house, no mixing them! Once you have created your picture you need to take a photo and then upload it to Seesaw, Facebook or your class email address. It can be whole body, portrait or anything in between. We had some amazing creations last week and some of the castles/palaces/forts were brilliant. Let’s see some really creative ones this week. Remember they must fit inside and fill a 2 metre by 2 metre square!
