08.01.2022 Hello to all small businesses out there. We at the Kinglake Ranges Business Network are just as flat, confused and over-whelmed as you all to be sure. We are however working with local council to asses how we can get back on our feet and stay a viable business in the meantime. I spent an hour with a company called Portable and Small Business Victoria who wanted to know thangs that helped last disaster and what did not. Also how they could look at supporting us now and in the ...future. Some of the feed back I gave was that 1. We are all in shock and over-whelmed and many have found the lockdown triggering with respect to Black Saturday. 2. Platitudes will not help, we need real help and not false promises. That help needs to be industry specific as trades, shop front business, manufacturing and farming all have different needs and recovery alters with that. 3. There will be anger and frustration, focusing on assisting small businesses and trades by letting them know what they can and cannot do rather than treating small business like potential criminals would help. Most people want to do the right thing, we should not fear that we will cop a massive fine if we get it wrong. Working together will help, fear, fines and finger-pointing will not. and 4. assistance needs to be given to our accountants. They are a precious resource to help us all navigate these times and the government should provide assistant to them so we all feel comfortable that we are well advised with all the levels of assistance. More info to come and below is a link for mental health help. We all are in this, keep talking and stay strong folks. https://www.business.vic.gov.au/d/mental-health-in-business See more
