22.01.2022 New Year’s Eve might look a bit different this year, but we urge everyone to farewell 2020 in the safest possible way, and particularly to avoid the dangers of ...illegal fireworks. Fireworks are dangerous and can not only start fires but also put those around them at risk of serious injuries, burns or even death. It is a crime for anyone other than licensed pyrotechnicians to use or possess fireworks. Any information about illegal fireworks can be reported confidentially to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or www.crimestoppersvic.com.au. Stay safe and do the right thing to look after yourselves, your family, friends and community. https://news.cfa.vic.gov.au/-/don-t-ruin-the-party-with-ill

15.01.2022 Did you know we have simplified our burning-off laws? This is to make it easier for you to maintain your property in preparation for the summer fire season. You... may now burn off at any time (excluding the Fire Danger Period) without requiring a permit, providing you meet certain conditions. More information about these conditions can be found on our website at www.murrindindi.vic.gov.au/burningoff Any fire that does not meet these conditions will require a permit from Council. As always, please ensure you register all burns with the CFA by contacting 1800 668 511 before lighting your fire.
14.01.2022 Victoria is one of the most fire prone areas in the world. If you live near areas that have significant bush, forest or long grass, then you need to plan ahead ...for the fire season. A written and preferably well-practised plan will help you remember what needs to be done during a crisis. https://www.cfa.vic.gov.au/plan-prepare/your-bushfire-plan

06.01.2022 Monday 25th of January has been declared a day of Total Fire Ban for the North Central area which includes the Shire of Murrindindi. The fire rating for the day is Severe.
04.01.2022 Well-played The Basin Fire Brigade (CFA), very well played indeed.
04.01.2022 As darkness falls, please note that the FDR signs have been adjusted as follows. The signs immediately in front of the station and near the KLW intersection (North Central District) all state ‘Total Fire Ban’ and an FDR of ‘Severe’ - pictures 1, 2 & 3. No doubt the automated electronic sign will update itself at 12:01am. The sign to the South of Coombs Rd (Central District) reads ‘Very High’. There is no TFB tomorrow for the Central District - picture 4. #notkarenfrombrighton
