03.01.2022 Copied from another page but useful information (I need to learn this): THE GRIP IMPORTANCE Ok i get asked this question alot how important the grip is? ... Well its very important as so many things in the way the grip works alot of things can go wrong. For instance over squeezing the cue to tight, or flicking fingers to much, (Meaning on backswing letting your fingers come right off the cue,) turning the grip on the shot, holding the cue to loose not locking your thumb and first finger all these things affect the cue delivery. All these are common faults i see alot. I suggest your grip tightness should be not to loose or to tight. But only tight enough so it cant slide out of your hand without any squeezing to hold it. Like if it was raining and your holding a umbrella taking a casual stroll. You dont squeeze the hell out of it do you. Must be relaxed tightness. Always make sure your thumb and first finger are locked your thumb over the first finger interlocking. To stop flicking the fingers.Try not to open your 3 back fingers to much. Try to keep them as much as your can on the cue at all times. Dont let them come off the cue. (Especially on the backswing.) You still open your fingers but keep them on the cue keeps control of the cue. The grip should not turn on the shot. (So try not to twist your wrist on delivery to prevent that.) And on impact dont over squeeze the cue in your grip as you hit the cueball. Should only slightly squeeze on impact.
