24.01.2022 ADVENTURE SUNSHINE COAST: Kondalilla National Park Rock Pools Walk This 2.4km walk, waterfall and rock pools are iconic and a must for anyone growing up on th...e #SunshineCoast SUITABILITY Suitable for walkers with reasonable fitness as there are over 300 steps down to the falls. HIGHLIGHTS #KondalillaNationalPark is a cool and very popular mountain retreat nearly all year round. The park is named after the spectacular Kondalilla Falls, where Skene Creek drops 90m into a rainforest valley. Kondalilla, an Aboriginal word meaning 'rushing waters', describes this park's waterfall during the summer wet season. WHAT YOU'LL SEE The Kondalilla Falls walk is part of the first section of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland Great Walk. The pathway is beautifully built for an accessible yet exciting experience. The manicured path means you can really enjoy the surrounding scenery on this short walk without watching your feet, and be mesmerised by the sound of the creek and birdlife in the virgin forest. There are high and low paths that make a loop called Picnic Creek Circuit, with a diversion to the 100m high falls and swimming hole below (bring your togs). Make this adventure high on your list, it’s well worth it. Don't be put off by all the steps! AFTERWARDS Enjoy a picnic or BBQ lunch in the park above the falls. Alternatively, the bustling tourist town of Montville is but a minute's drive away for sweet treats and souveniers. HOW TO GET THERE Travel north on Main Street from Montville for about 2.6km. Turn left onto Kondalilla Falls Rd and travel another 700m to the park entrance. 23.01.2022 INDIGENOUS TOURISM OUT OF MOOLOOLABA: New Sunshine Coast venture now open! On board an historical 100-year-old timber sailing vessel called Spray of the Coral ...Coast, the new Saltwater Eco Tours will offer unique cultural tours escorted by Indigenous Storyteller Guides. In the Year of Indigenous Tourism, Saltwater Eco Tours opened to the public for the very first time n the weekend, operating from Penny Lane Jetty in the tourist hub of #Mooloolaba. The experience will share the stories, traditions and culture of the Sunshine Coast region's first eco custodians, the Kabi Kabi People, cruising along the Mooloolah River. This will be the first significant water-based ecotourism product launch the #SunshineCoast has seen for some time and it is welcomed by all levels of industry including here at Sunshine Coast Council as we've invested significantly in Indigenous Tourism Development. Expanding our local tourism offerings and in particular, sharing the culture and history of our #GubbiGubbi #KabKabi #FirstNation peoples, is particularly important at this time as our region seeks to lure more domestic visitors to the region and recovers from the pandemic. https://www.saltwaterecotours.com.au

You’ll find around a dozen interesting trails running through the park from 800m to 1100m return. Check it out: https://bit.ly/3gKguYR 2. The Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve is always a winner for a whole day experience. Start with a stroll around the reserve, grab a coffee in the café overlooking the Glasshouse Mountains, visit the amazing interpretive centre, then run off some steam in the playground or open grassed areas. Check it out: https://bit.ly/2W5BQbf 5. Gardners and Kondallilla Falls are always spectacular after rain. At Kondallilla, you might want sturdier shoes, especially after the rain, but the views are well worth it. Gardeners Falls is a little easier to get to for reluctant walkers, but just as majestic. 11.01.2022 CALOUNDRA MUSIC FESTIVAL CANCELLED This week Caloundra Music Festival joins the list of local and global events that have succumbed to the COVID-19 pandemic.... While there is still no clear path to what events might look like in the future, we know that events contribute to our sense of place and our sense of community spirit, and that CMF will be back in some shape or form in the future. Our local artists have been hit hard, losing up to six months worth of gigs with only a fraction of those returning as restrictions ease, in an uncertain industry landscape. If you are in a position to support them by purchasing their music, merchandise or pre-purchasing tickets for their future gigs please do so Likewise, our accommodation providers have experienced a tough few months without visitors. SO if you had accommodation booked for CMF, pack your bags and enjoy the last long weekend of the year in Queensland and support local businesses! There's plenty to see and do in Caloundra, a beautiful part of the #SunshineCoast, with many activities and attractions on offer! Here's what you can get up to, on your long weekend https://www.visitsunshinecoast.com/What-to-do/Things-to-do #VisitSunshineCoast #Caloundra #ThisIsQueensland #CaloundraMusicFestival #CMF #VisitQueensland
