24.01.2022 I spent the weekend sharing duties with the awesome Balraj Ougra from Back Space Chiropractic looking after Sydneys own UTSSU Australian Volleyball League team and also on photography duties when free.

17.01.2022 Due to NBN/Exetel issues my phone number is currently unavailable.

16.01.2022 Congratulations to Dr Steph Mathieson for being published again. Steph spent a small amount of time in the clinic while she was completing her Masters of Chiropractic and still visits from time to time when she is in the area. To cut the jargon, Pregabalin is known as Lyrica and we see commonly see chronic lower back pain patients who have been prescribed this drug since opiates like codeine and Endone where further restricted.

15.01.2022 Just a quick shout out, I have some hand sanitiser in larger containers. Supplies are getting easier to get but....if you are a bit sick of being gouged by shops send me a message and I should be able to top up your container on a cost recovery basis. We are strictly adhering to one in / one out at the clinic so please pre-arrange a time if you are interested.

14.01.2022 Early stage research (ie animal studies) but very interesting findings. Given the relative safety of vibration massage to be able to apply this in the future to other types of injuries beyond trigger points and other muscular issues would be quite helpful.

14.01.2022 Opioids have been a common prescription until the recent tightening up of regulation which has made them less available. Its pleasing to see research mirroring what we see in practice.

13.01.2022 Hopefully the political spin from the Victorian minister for health is treated with the respect it deserves.

13.01.2022 Have you taken your child to see a chiropractor? If you have, we would like your help. https://engage.vic.gov.au/chiropractic-spinal-care-children

13.01.2022 Should I wait until I am in pain or should I take preventative action? This study adds weight to the benefits of being proactive. The study assessed "bothersomeness" of back pain which ultimately determines whether your back pain stops you from doing things or enjoying your life (not just whether you have some pain). There are less "bothersome" days if you receive preventative care from a chiropractor. So keeping active is the gold standard and some regular chiropractic care may make that a even better.

11.01.2022 Sports Chiro Australia just supplied the link to British Journal of Sports Medicine blog by Kevin Maggs, this is a very good read for anyone who is trying to understand why their "bulging disc" or "tendinopathy" or other pathology should not define how much better they can be. We can adapt and overcome. https://blogs.bmj.com//load-vs-capacity-the-good-and-the/

09.01.2022 Did you know that Australian chiropractors are government registered and regulated, and undergo a minimum of five years of university study! This #SpinalHealthWeek why not #ConsiderAChiro as part of your action plan on pain! www.considerachiro.org.au

05.01.2022 The Sunday Night Program on Chiropractic: Tonights Sunday Program made a circus of an important issue, and as a result a number of issues canvassed during the ...program require clarification: 1. All Australian chiropractors operate within a well-defined code of conduct and are regulated by the Chiropractic Board of Australia and the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). 2. The ACA supports the Australian governments view that immunisation is an important healthcare initiative. 3. There is very little evidence of harm of treating children with spinal manipulation. 4. Chiropractic has an impeccable safety record in Australia, with approximately 30,000 paediatric visits to chiropractors every week nationally, and in the last 20 years the insurance company which insures approximately 70% of Australian chiropractors has not defended, nor settled a claim against a chiropractor arising out of the treatment of a child under 12. It is reasonable to assume at least 12 million services have been provided in this time. 5. There is significant evidence of the value parents experience of the informed care provided. 6. The extent of high-level evidence for SMT care for children is not extensive, however the absence of evidence does not mean the absence of effectiveness. 7. If the law applied to all health providers is uniform and equitable then many other professions, including surgeons and medical doctors, should be restricted in their care because they do have evidence of harm and the extent of high-level evidence for care is also not extensive. 8. ACA supports minimisation of harm not restriction of choice.

05.01.2022 Did you know that an estimated 4 million Australians have back problems? The good news is that chiropractic may offer you a drug free alternative to not only help prevent and alleviate pain but to promote a healthy and fulfilling lifestyle. #ConsideraChiro

03.01.2022 In light of some local GPs actively trying to steer patients away from sensible manual therapy from university post graduate trained chiropractors, it is slightly enlightening to read these articles. Whilst these drugs have valid uses there are attendant risks which need to be considered and monitored most notably that Lyrica is indicated for nerve pain....not sciatica.
