18.01.2022 So, my exciting news is that I'm now a recommended service provider through the Fitzroy Basin Association!! What does this mean? There is currently a bucket of ...funding available for landholders in the Fitzroy Basin region to be reimbursed for certain services of up to 70%. My consultations and workshops come under these services. If you would like a consult regarding soil health and improvement or pasture management you may be able to claim a 70% reimbursement. Consults on weed control are 30% and stock health and handling (horses) 50%. If you have been considering a consultation or would like some education on these subjects please contact me. At this stage, the funding is available until the end of June.

12.01.2022 You saw it first here! New roundbale net hayfeeder. Designed and built by Dad and me. #hayfeeder #roundbale #roundbalefeeder #haysaver @justgrazincustomnets #da...dandme #slowfeedhaynet #horseutopia #perfectpastures #sacrificepaddock The purpose of this round bale feeder was ease of use. I have to manhandle the round bales by myself, and after doing it all year due to the drought it just got harder and harder. This way I just have to cut the netting off the bale and then tip the feeder over the top. The base is to prevent my shod horse from getting caught in the netting. The roof structure is to put a cover on if it rains and the whole thing is held down by tent pegs on each post.

05.01.2022 Why do you think drought and flood cycles are getting worse in Australia? Could it be overgrazing, ploughing and burning? All of this and poor management of the... land is severely degrading the soils and depleting the soils of carbon. Carbon is an amazing thing, the more carbon in the soil the more rainfall the soil can absorb, even in deluge events. So, it can stop or reduce flooding but it can make the soil hold onto moisture for a lot longer too, therefore increasing the growing time of plants going into drier months. Increasing carbon in your soils and keeping as much plant matter above ground will give your pasture and soil the best chance of drought and flood resilience. It's time to start changing the way we do things! See more

04.01.2022 Liz from Gem Equine Therapy Pty Ltd is looking at visiting the CQ area next year. Please spread the word and send her a message if you are interested in one of the treatments she offers. Liz travels all over Australia with her machine. "Most of what I do is performance related. I handle everything a chiropractor does but in a totally different way. it may be something as simple as being rough on a particular canter lead. Things like struggling to develop a top line or hold co...ndition when in work, not wanting to work in a frame, lacking engagement, are all issues that usually originate from a physical problem. These are just some of the things I deal with. There are some before and after photos on my Facebook page. As well as the setup in my Gooseneck I am also an Emmett practitioner." https://www.facebook.com/pg/Gem-Equine-Therapy-Pty-Ltd-662579657206057/posts/?ref=page_internal See more
