23.01.2022 I am not a wedding photographer. Does that shock you? I shoot weddings for the celebration of love. My approach doesn't change between weddings or elopements or boudoir. It's all love. Love is the driving force of this short life. Self love. Love for others. Eros. Community and change and harmony and anarchy. This is what I shoot, and how I explore this art form.... It frustrates me that the wedding industry has set criteria for selling the idea and the image of 'the wedding'. All of this becomes ancillary when the focus is on love. Start here - with love - and build from there. I'm not ripping on weddings themselves, far from it. I fucking adore when two humans come together and celebrate their lives together, and when they do it in absolute style. But matrimony is more than style, more than haves and have nots, more than schedules and logistics and all the bullshit. It's DEEPER than 'the wedding'. This is legacy. I feel renewed in my resolve to never shoot 'the wedding' again. I shoot love, wholly and unabashed, passionately and freely, and in all forms. If you're planning 'the wedding' for the sake of it, then pull back. Focus on the love, and your celebration will be unique from there. If you truly want 'the wedding', then you're looking for a 'wedding photographer', and there's a million wedding pros who'll do that - taking detail shots, posing you awkwardly, hyperfocus on schedule and shooting for portfolios and submissions.
