19.01.2022 Brushing our littles ones teeth can prove to be a little tricky sometimes. Here are a few tips and tricks to make teeth brushing fun and exciting: It’s not uncommon for children of all ages to not like the minty spice of toothpaste. Using a children’s flavoured toothpaste such as @oralb or Macleans will add flavour and fun to toothbrushing Daily brushing chart - There are so many printable charts online for your child to track their progress. Having a chart is a great ...way to keep them motivated and perhaps offering a reward if the chart has been checked off everyday at the end of the week Listen to music - Kids tend to brush as quick as they can to get it over and done with. Playing their favourite song whilst they brush encourages them to continue brushing for a full 2 minutes whilst keeping occupied. There are also a few apps you can get on your mobile to help with this Do you have any tips to share?! We’d love to hear what you and your family do * * * * * * * #oralb #littleteeth #music #fun #toothbrush #kidsdental #dental #oralhygiene #family #tips @ Kingscliff, New South Wales

18.01.2022 School Holidays are fast approaching. It is a perfect time to bring your children in to have a check up and clean with Dr Georgia our tooth fairy or Dr Rhett. We bulk bill all children eligible to claim the Medicare CDBS payment. The Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) is a scheme run by Medicare that provides eligible children up to $1,000 over 2 calendar years to pay for a range of dental services.... Give us a call and we can check if your children are eligible to claim through Medicare, and they can join in on the dental fun, just like the children in our photo. We look forward to seeing you soon :)

14.01.2022 MY TODDLER WONT LET ME BRUSH THEIR TEETH PART 3 5. Make it a non-negotiable. In our house we make a lot of compromises and Parker is allowed to make a lot of choices, but we have some things that we call non-negotiable. Which means even if he protests I gently explain that this is non negotiable and we will do it, even if he doesn’t like it. This is the same for brushing his hair, changing his nappy and putting on his seatbelt. Somethings have to be done and that’s just... the way it is. I find if we are firm but fair he know that is has to be done and also an early introduction, routine and consistency also really helps. 6. Compromise as adults we need to brush out teeth for 2 minutes but we don’t need to brush toddler’s teeth for that long - aim for a minute to 1.5 minutes and give priority to the back teeth and upper front teeth as they are at most risk of decay. 7 Don’t forget diet - diet and sugar consumption is linked to dental decay so make sure your child is not consuming sweet or acidic drinks and you are minimising sugary foods- it doesn’t matter how well you brush your toddlers teeth if you are giving them juice or soft drinks they are still likely to get holes/decay 8. Always Remember no one is perfect and you are doing an great job you may occasionally miss a night if your bub falls asleep in the car or you have had a nightmare evening - don’t beat yourself up just brush extra well in the morning and keep the consistency of twice a day. I would love to hear what tips and trick work for you?

13.01.2022 Did you know, Australia is one of the highest waste producers worldwide?! We are excited to announce we have joined Tera-Cycle and are working to reduce the amount of waste Australia produces, one toothbrush at a time. Here at Kingscliff Family Dental, we will be collecting waste from your oral care products (as shown below).... You may be wondering what happens from here? Once collected, the tubes and brushes are separated by composition, shredded and melted into hard plastic that can be re-molded to make new recycled products. Our friendly team will be here during operating hours to assist you and answer any questions you may have. We look forward to seeing you soon!

05.01.2022 MY TODDLER WON’T LET ME BRUSH THEIR TEETH PART 2 4. Introduce Toothbrushing early you can start brushing massaging your babies gums from the day they are born just by using a clean washcloth or silicone finger brush. This helps them get into the habit of having their guns/teeth cleaned it also means that you can be on the look out for any changes or new teeth. Massaging the gums with a cool washcloth is also a nice way to help managing pain from teething. 5. Get them inv...olved 3 ways to do this - They have a turn and then you have a turn - they brush your teeth while you brush theirs - they hold a toothbrush, brush a doll/toys teeth before/after or while you brush their teeth * * * * * * #toothfairy #toothfairydentist #dentist #toddler #toddlerteeth #firsttooth #teethbrushing #toothbrush #oralhygiene #dentalhealth #dentalhygeine #dentistmum #teeth #babyteeth #mommyandme #letthembelittle #fedisbest #darlingmovement #motherhoodunplugged #baby #toddlersogfinstagram #cutebaby #dentallife #dental #firstdentalvisit #fairydentist #kingscliff #kingscliffhappenings @ Kingscliff Family Dental

03.01.2022 GOOD FRIDAY VOLUNTEER DAY FREE DENTAL CLEAN OR FILLING We would love to thank our local community for their continued support through 2018/2019. ... To say thank you, Rhett & Georgia have decided to do a second volunteer day on Good Friday. It will only be Rhett and Georgia so our capacity will be limited to only 10 patients. Rhett and Georgia will be working together to do either a filling or an examination and clean for each patient at NO CHARGE. There is no catch; we just have a strong passion for volunteer work. In the past they have participated in projects overseas and in rural Australia. However, with a growing business and growing family, we thought why not continue our Volunteer Good Friday tradition and give back to the community. This is open to new and existing patients, so please share with anyone who you think may be in need. As it will just be Rhett and Georgia we ask that you come to the practice to register at 8.30am on Good Friday 19 April. They will allocate the first 10 people an appointment time for the day so there will be no need to stay and wait. Happy Easter & thanks again for all your support

02.01.2022 Top tips 0- 2 years old *You can brush your babies gums from birth with a wet face washer or silicone brush *As more teeth appear you can start to use a small very soft toothbrush brush in gentle circles on the biting surfaces and angling toward the gum on the inside and outside surfaces... *brush your babies teeth as soon as they appear usually around 6 months but can be between 4-13 months *No toothpaste is needed at this time-just water. You can use a product called tooth mousse if you baby if at risk of dental decay (as instructed by your dentist - note cannot be used in children who have a caesin dairy allergy) *Choose two times a day (morning and evening) and Brush for around one minute it often helps to sing songs, sometimes even give your child another toothbrush or a toy to hold. I have whole post about my top toothbrushing tips for more info on how to brush. *From birth- 6 months Only give breastmilk or formula *From 6 months - Introduce solids at around 6 months concentrating on healthy unprocessed foods such a fruit and vegetables, lean proteins, small amounts of water can be given - Try and switch from a bottle to a cup or drink bottle with a straw if possible *From 12 months -milk can be introduced and formula is no longer necessary(but many parents still choose to give a toddler milk drink *NEVER give your child juice, cordial or soft drink unless instructed to do so by a medical professional. *Keep dummy (pacifier) only for sleeping and try and ditch the dummy at around 6 months (and definitely before 2) *Although it is tempting to pop the dummy in for comfort whenever your child is unsettled extended use can lead to jaw changes, risk of injuries (falling with a dummy in the mouth if it has any hard plastic) and speech delays. *Visit your dentist around your child’s first birthday - I will be doing my free mums n Bubs dental days again a faulks park once it is safe to do so. *have their first full check up at the dentist by age 2 (earlier if you have any concerns) - Always remember you are doing an amazing job! Do you have any top tip for Bubs or any questions comment below and I will answer them
