25.01.2022 Today is the Second Sunday of Advent as we count down to Christmas. Our second candle is lit, it represents faith. It is called the Bethlehem Candle as a reminder of Mary and Joseph’s journey to Bethlehem.

23.01.2022 Geoff’s message this morning about the curse on the man in Genesis 3 spoke so directly into our time and place and culture, as did his one before about the curse on the woman, we wholeheartedly recommend them.

21.01.2022 More progress refreshing the interior of St. John’s, Franklin. We should be ready to be having our weekly worship services here in August.

20.01.2022 1st Sunday of Advent: 1 red candle burning. This is called the Prophet’s Candle and symbolises the Old Testament people’s hope as the prophets told of the coming Messiah.

19.01.2022 Our little St. John's cinema showing of 'The Riot and the Dance - Earth' last Friday was a great success! The sequel, 'Water', is on this Friday at 7pm - we look forward to seeing you there!

15.01.2022 Our series through Psalms started yesterday, so now we’re alternating weekly with Genesis.

14.01.2022 MOVIE NIGHT THIS SUNDAY: 7:30pm at St. John’s in Franklin. You’re all invited to come learn about the problems with an old-earth view of the world, and how the young-earth timeframe fits the scientific evidence as well as the Biblical narrative.

14.01.2022 On the fourth Sunday of Advent we lit our final candle, the Angel’s Candle, which symbolizes peace. It reminds us of the message of the angels: Peace on Earth, Good Will Toward Men. An extra candle will be added on Christmas Eve: the Christ Candle

13.01.2022 We are delighted to be seeing great progress towards restoring St. John’s to once again be a place of worship in Franklin.

12.01.2022 This organ was the second church Pipe Organ brought to Tasmania. It was built by John Gray of London in 1826 for the Church of England in Launceston. When it was replaced by a larger instrument in 1862, this organ went on to live in several different churches around the State before finally settling here at St. John's Church, Franklin, Tasmania in 1965.

12.01.2022 Our St. John’s Cinema is set up and looking good. See you tomorrow night.

11.01.2022 Come see some local actors in our Movie showing this Sunday Night: The Voyage That Shook The World. This Fathom Media Docudrama produced in 2009 was partially filmed here in Tasmania and features two local actors from right here in FRANKIN, not to mention the local support crew. Join us on SUNDAY the 15th of November at 7pm to watch the film, followed by a cuppa.... Movie trailer here: https://www.kingscovenant.org//sunday-night-movie-the-voya Summary: In 1831 a young amateur scientist, Charles Darwin, boarded the HMS Beagle on an epic five-year voyage of discovery that would shake the world. In this expansive documentary the HMS Beagle once again sets sail as it retraces Charles Darwin’s voyage in lavish detail, examining his findings and remarkable conclusions and their implications in the light of modern knowledge. Filmed in South America, United Kingdom, North America, Australia and Europe, ‘Darwin: The Voyage That Shook The World’ features dramatic period recreations and stunning nature cinematography, all interwoven with scholars, scientists and Darwin experts who share differing perspectives on the man and the controversy he stirred.

11.01.2022 May we have many more days like today at St. John’s in Franklin.

11.01.2022 We had rather squiggly children in church this morning, so I’m glad to be able to go re-listen to this morning’s sermon on Psalm 3: www.kinscovenant.org/sermon-archive

10.01.2022 Hymn sing this evening at J&C’s place from 7pm. See you there.

10.01.2022 All your questions about Mrs. Cain answered by Dr. Geoff Downes in this morning’s sermon:

10.01.2022 What a beautiful spring morning! Today, we took time to remember that every good thing is a gift from God, with a 'Blessing of the Blossom' service.

10.01.2022 On this, the third Sunday of Advent, we light the Shepard’s Candle which symbolises joy.

08.01.2022 We publish this here, as it is the reasoning behind our supervising denomination‘s instructions to obey our State restrictions include gathering together at this time. In a time of genuine plague, the civil magistrate has the right to shut things down... We will continue to do this until it becomes obvious that the orders are an abuse of their legitimate authority to quarantine.

08.01.2022 Come worship with us at St. John’s, Franklin. In 2 weeks we have a special spring service

07.01.2022 Another productive working bee this week. Thanks folk. More pews were varnished, the last of the window areas has been painted, the font re-assembled, plaques and fixtures cleaned and polished. New carpet is coming into the next week or so, then things can be arranged to their final positions.

06.01.2022 Dr. Geoff Downes preached about Noah and Christmas yesterday. The Angels didn’t sing ‘Noah-el’ for nothing! Christmas is the answer to the judgement of God in the flood, Christmas is the joy of the Lord covering the earth as the waters cover the sea. Listen here: https://www.kingscovenant.org/sermon-archive

05.01.2022 Two weeks until this fabulous film screening in our new church venue - St. John’s Franklin.

03.01.2022 GIVEAWAY: I have four free family tickets here to be won, just share this event to go into the draw.

02.01.2022 Water: two hydrogen atoms, plus one oxygen atom, linked together to form one of the strangest, most pervasive, most essential substances on this planet. It cuts canyons and smashes cities. It soothes a dry mouth It might be in baptism that see water as its truest self. It is death, it is life; destruction, resurrection. Come see this film in Franklin in 2 weeks! Friday night or Saturday afternoon.

01.01.2022 Another productive working bee last evening. Haven’t these pews come up beautifully? Some are original from this church, and recovered after being sold off. If you know where more of the original pews have ended up, we’d love to find them! Matching stain and upholstery helps unify the mismatching pew shapes nicely. Also during the working bee, Tim cut a hatch through the floorboards, so Jed and Jessie could hunt under the church for the legendary time capsule and Foundation Stone.

01.01.2022 Happy first-day-of-Advent! Come celebrate with us at our 10 am service at St John’s, Franklin, followed by morning tea.
