18.01.2022 A different Point Danger on Anzac morning.

18.01.2022 The cancellation of traditional ANZAC Day services this year has been sad, but it has forced us to channel some of the ANZAC spirit of ingenuity as we think of new and different ways to mark this special occasion. Below are some ways to honour defense personnel, past and present as shared by the RSL... 1. Light Up The Dawn... RSL Victoria are inviting you to stand at the end of your driveway, on your balcony or porch, or in your living room to remember all those who have served and sacrificed for this nation. 2. Plant Rosemary 3. Make a Rosemary Wreath 4. Bake ANZAC Biscuits 5. Help An Older Veteran 6. Donate to the ANZAC Appeal 7. Enjoy a Gunfire Breakfast 8. Video Call Your Loved Ones 9. Recite The Ode 10. 12.01.2022 It's the late 1930's, the night is young at the Savoy Ballroom as people dance to the houseband 'Erskine Hawkins & His Orchestra'. The song is about a jazz and blues club in the Birmingham, Alabama suburb of Ensley. The area is referred to as "Tuxedo Junction"... 09.01.2022 We recognise that talking about death within a family and community can be confronting. However, it is an important part of our lives; the more we can communicate, the better we understand our choices, how to communicate these to others, how to manage grief and how to support those who are dealing with bereavement. Saturday 8 August 2020 is Dying To Know Day; an initiative of the GroundSwell Project.... The aim of this initiative is to socialise and normalise conversations surrounding death and create communities brought together through compassion. We have put together this range of resources for adults and children to help guide and educate. #Hereforyou #D2KDay

01.01.2022 Any other year, across the nation, RSL services would be held for the community to attend. A crowd would be gathering at the cenotaph in the park in Ocean Grove and Philip Christian, in his role as padre, would be participating in the dawn service of the Ocean Grove Barwon Heads sub-branch. Faces would appear out of the gloom as the dawn breaks and it would be a moving time in tribute to the fallen and all who have served in all wars.
