25.01.2022 We have had a great uptake in our dental special and so many more pets in Kingsley are going around with clean teeth and fresh breath right now. We still have another week and a half left of the promo if you want to take advantage of the $50 off dentals and also drop in for 15% off dental treats and accessories and some great food specials on Hills and Royal Canin.

24.01.2022 Spring is in the air! This is a good time to enjoy the warmer days and sunshine but for our pets (and their humans sometimes!) it can also mean an increase in allergies. Our pets can have the usual allergies to parasites such as fleas as well as share much of the same ones we humans have to mother nature and food! If your pet has developed the spring itch please give us a call and we can help provide some relief. Allergies are quite common in pets and there have been advances in treatment through the years!

23.01.2022 Don't forget that if you're boarding your pet over the holiday season they need to be up to date with their vaccinations. Feel free to give us a call and we can confirm your pet's vaccination status.

23.01.2022 Just a reminder we are closed today for WA Day, have a happy and safe day with your families! We will be open tomorrow at our regular hours. For Emergencies please call EVH in Wangara at 9200 4460.

22.01.2022 We understand vet bills can be unexpected, so we have many ways to help you. We are pleased to now offer both ZipPay and VetPay payment options. Zippay requires an app on your phone to use and signing is quick and easy. Vetpay has a application on their website which just takes a few minutes to fill out. Both will inform you of your 'loan' amount on approval within minutes.

20.01.2022 Let us welcome Pretzel to the Kingsley Family! His owners have done amazing work getting him happy and healthy after a rough start and here he is looking amazing for his 11week vaccination!

The oldest cat on record is Creme Puff from Texas at 38yrs of age. Her owner had owned a previous record holder Grandpa Rex who died at 34! (He was a patient at our nurse's Tash first workplace in Austin Texas!) The oldest living creature so far confirmed by scientists is clam that was found to be 405 years of age!

19.01.2022 Happy International Dog Day! Show us your canine friends who bring joy and love to your life!

19.01.2022 Please remember as the days heat up so does the ground. Sensitive feet can burn when they are walked so check the ground before you walk, if you can't walk barefoot on it, neither should your pet!

18.01.2022 Calling all puppies! We have a couple slots open in a Thursday night class this week if interested. Suitable for starting age of 8-12 weeks old. Just follow the link to the page and give the ladies a call. They are professional dog trainers who will run the class within the clinic so the puppies also get the benefit of positive experience in the clinic. https://puppyassociates.com.au/classes

18.01.2022 We had a couple cute ladies making their first appearances to Kingsley Vet, Camilla (Frenchie) and Cleo (Staffy!). They both did very well in their visits and we can't wait to see them again and have more cuddles!

18.01.2022 Staff with pets Feature: As Mike took a picture of Jane with their pet, he didn't want to miss out on being featured and took a picture with our clinic cat Priscilla! She has been a fixture at Kingsley Vet for nearly 14 years! She is a healthy senior cat though she makes for a very poor receptionist as many have noticed over the years.

18.01.2022 Found Corella Bird found at Greenwood Primary School. Very friendly, looks like its wings have been clipped. Is also posted on Lost and Found Birds WA Please call Kingsley Vets 9409 6855

18.01.2022 We had an interesting patient last week, Bobby the Bobtail! Someone or something took a munch of his tail and the owner of his yard brought him in for us to a look over and see what we could do. After giving the wound a thorough cleaning with saline it was packed with Manuka honey and bandaged and then Bobby was given pain relief and antibiotics to prevent future infection. Manuka honey is being used more and more in veterinary medicine for its healing properties with large ...wounds such as this. So the Bees will help the Bobtail! Bobtails rely on their tail fat to get them through winter for survival so this injury could have been life threatening on many different fronts. He is now at Kanyana Wildlife Rescue's Bobtail Rehab ward while he recovers and once he has he will return to his favorite yard!

17.01.2022 During the First World War, red poppies were among the first plants to spring up in the devastated battlefields of northern France and Belgium. We continue to use the poppy today as a symbol of remembrance for those who have been lost in the line of duty. Lest we forget

17.01.2022 Another addition to our Staff and their pets weekly feature! We have Nurse Sue with her more 'unusual' pets, her rescue horses Laci and Flash! Sue has a menagerie of Cats, dogs and pocket pets but she is the only one of us with Horses!

15.01.2022 Hello, My name is Natasha and I am one of the nurses at Kingsley Vet and I was recently diagnosed with Breast cancer. So this year more than ever I wanted to bring some awareness to Purple Bra Day which is today. Purple Bra day supports Breast Cancer Care WA which provides a long list of services for free to those with Breast cancer. I can already speak from experience of the invaluable support they have provided me in the last month and ways they will continue to support m...e on this journey: Support groups, Breast Cancer Nurse, vouchers for house cleaning, information , phone support and so much more. Even if you are unable to donate, if you can mention to a friend or family member to check their breasts often and regularly and to do so yourself. Breast cancer effects people across all genders and ages, in fact I am going through chemotherapy with a guy who has the same type of breast cancer as I do and have people on the breast cancer forum diagnosed in their 20s, so EVERYONE needs to examine themselves. As for myself and work: I hope to continue to work at least part-time but I will ask you to forgive me if I keep up physical distancing as I go through chemotherapy over the next 4 months as my immune system will be low. I am otherwise keeping positive and my cancer care team is positive we will get through this with a positive outcome. Also...no apologies for the variety of wigs and hair coverings you may see over the next year, I hope to have a little fun where I can! ;). Thank you all, Natasha https://purplebraday.com.au/natasha-birt/

15.01.2022 Fun Fact Friday!

15.01.2022 Next in our Staff and their Pets feature is Nurse Victoria and her furbabies: Jack, Goldfish and Franklin. They are all rescues and mostly get along despite what this picture suggests! Ok they mostly tolerate each other!

13.01.2022 Light Low impact exercises are good for our senior cats and dogs.It keeps up their muscle tone which in turns helps support their arthritic joints. One of the best for dogs is swimming and there are a couple of dog swimming pools in the area or to the beach once it gets warmer. Their walks may need to be shorter but they are still really important for maintaining good joint health. Keeping your cats moving with balls they can chase or scattering their food around so they have to move around to eat can be good ways to keep our sleepy felines moving. Exercise is also good for their brain health as boredom can exacerbate geriatric mental decline in our pets. If you would like more tips (Or have them) feel free to share below or give us a call!

12.01.2022 Did you know that your pet's needs change as they age? We all know the nutritional needs of puppies and kittens differ from those of adult dogs and cats. But did you know that your adult dog's needs change again as they age? Not only do their energy requirements decrease, but we need to take extra care of their joints and internal organs such as kidneys to help keep them happy and healthy. Read more about how nutritional needs change with age for dogs and cats. https://www.h...illspet.com.au//dog-nutrition-for-every-lifes https://www.hillspet.com.au///cat-food-for-every-lifestage https://www.hillspet.com.au///cat-food-for-every-lifestage https://www.hillspet.com.au//dog-nutrition-for-every-lifes

11.01.2022 Just a little over a week left to our senior special! This includes a full health check, blood tests (Full organ profile, CBC and thyroid function) and a urinalysis. It is important for our senior pets that we catch organ dysfunction early where we can intervene with dietary changes, medications or other means. Next month we will be doing our annual dental special which will include $50 off dentals and specials on our dental food.

10.01.2022 Let us give a warm welcome to one of our newest patients, Tilly! She came in last week for her first visit and lured us all in with her cute little face! We look forward to many more years of taking care of Tilly!

07.01.2022 This may seem like an ongoing theme, but weight is perhaps one of the most important aspect of a pet's health we need to consider. Too much or too little can affect many health systems or give us indicators for certain diseases. Especially for our senior pets it can play a havoc on their joints leading to or making their arthritis worse. Unexplained Weight gain in dogs or weight loss in cats can be a sign of Thyroid dysfunction or other organ issues. Remember it is Senior Health month and we are doing Senior health checks with Blood tests for a reduced costs on our 8+ years old patients.

07.01.2022 IMPORTANT PLEASE READ: Balcatta Vet (Vet24) has reported a surge in Parvo puppies of late. While we have not seen any at our practice it is a timely reminder to make sure your pet's vaccination's are up to date and that puppies are cautious in where they are socializing. If you are uncertain of your pet's last vaccination please do not hesitate to give us a call and one of our nurses can look it up for you. The minimum vaccine for all dogs does include protection for Parvo. Adult dogs would be getting this every 3 years. Puppies would be getting this 2-3 times as part of their puppy course, this should be followed up with an adult vaccine at approx 15months, then triannually.

07.01.2022 To Continue on our senior series there are other supportive therapies that can be used with animals. Warmth and massage can help ease muscles around sore joints. Swimming and Hydrotherapy can keep muscles strong when load bearing exercise can cause pain. Laser therapy can help with injury to joints. If you have any questions about these therapies please do not hesitate to ask the staff! Some we provide and some we can refer to.

05.01.2022 We have recently formed a collaboration with Dr. Ewen Blaikie from Small Animal Orthopaedics. While we offer a range of orthopaedic services sometimes an animal, usually because of size or because the case is more complicated, will benefit from the hands of a specialist surgeon such as Dr. Ewen. He comes into the clinic with his own equipment and skill and is supported by the Vet and nurse staff you are familiar with as seen below. This means you and your pet don't have to travel to a specialist facility and we can manage your pet's aftercare. Rogue is healing well from her surgery!

04.01.2022 We at Kingsley Vet are proud to promote RUOK Day. Remember its OK to not be ok! The Veterinary industry is one of the leaders in rates of suicide as we are full of empathic and passionate people who take upon the burdens of every case and outcome , vets and nurses alike. We at Kingsley Vet look after one another and implore you to look after your friends as well. Asking RuOk (and not just today) can be a light in the darkness from someone suffering from depression, having a ...bad day, grief etc. Many people hide sadness behind a smile putting on a brave face for people around you. Make it Ok to talk about feelings and emotions with your friend group, Especially Men! Take someone out for a cuppa or a beer and just have a chat if you are worried about them, the cause of their worry may never come up but it shows that they have someone in their corner if they need to reach out in the darkest of times.
