07.01.2022 Our consultant Madi LOVES South East Asia and has recently returned from her trip to Thailand and Laos. "I just had a whirlwind adventure through Thailand & Laos. I only had 8 nights to explore Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Luang Prabang. It was short but so sweet! I started in the busy city of Bangkok and stayed at the lavish Pathumwan Princess Hotel and was treated to amazing views of the city. In 48 hours I went on 3 tours! I started with the Bangkok City and Temples tour in th...e morning and the Local Life: Street Eats tour in the evening both with Buffalo Tours. These were a great way to see the sights (and eat a lot of food) with a locals insight and knowledge, I highly recommend! The morning of the day we flew out we went on an Urban Adventures tour, Beyond Bangkok Market Adventure: Railway & Floating Markets. It was great to get out of the hustle and bustle and see local life in action. I then headed to Chiang Mai on Intrepids Chiang Mai & Elephants tour. We had a full day out at the Elephant Nature Park and had a guilt free animal experience. We watched the elephants enjoy their freedom and got up close but didn't interrupt their natural home. There were also cats, dogs, buffaloes and horses that had been rescued, it was heaven for animal lovers! I also did another Urban Adventures while I was there call Chiang Mai Mind & Soul. It was a very special experience learning about Buddhism practices and rituals by making offerings at the temples and speaking to a monk who had been practicing for 16 years. After Thailand I headed to Luang Prabang in Laos to relax a bit after hectic touring. I stayed the Sofitel Luang Prabang and was treated like royalty at the 5 star resort. I kept it quiet while in this city and spent most of my time cycling around and exploring the city at my own pace. Except for our day trip out to the must see Kuang Si Falls via tuk tuk. It was invigorating to swim in the cool water after walking around in the heat and humidity. My only regret is how little time I had in each city! 05.01.2022 Our team leader James has recently returned from his trip to Dubai! This is what he had to say about the trip: "I'm fresh back from Dubai! Emirates was amazing to fly with and the bar in business class was a real treat. It is such a place of opulence. The highlights of the trip were the high tea at the Burj Al Arab and going up the tallest building in the world (Burj Khalifa). The two hotels we stayed at were pretty cool! Nikki Beach Resort, which was set on a really nice bea...ch and had this cool beach club thing happening with a DJ daily plus Palazzo Versace, where we were so lucky that they upgraded us to a 1 bedroom suite and we felt like kings. The Desert Safari was cool as well and I also went to the water park at Atlantis which is pretty out of this world and easy on the eye. 04.01.2022 Our consultants love to get out and explore! Kay has recently returned from her trip to Vietnam and has loved getting to know Vietnam all over again. "Vietnam is a country filled with delicious food, amazing beaches, awesome scenery and friendly people. After returning for the 4th time, I still loved it and it was definitely worth the return visit.I visited Saigon, Dong Hoi, Hanoi, Halong Bay and Hoi An.... A lot of people will not have heard of Dong Hoi, this is a coastal city about half way between Hoi An and Hanoi. Most people fly into Dong Hoi and travel 30 minutes inland to the Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park. Which is filled with amazing caves, beautiful karst mountains, and lovely waterfalls. Halong Bay is definitely a must do, and I would recommend the 2 night cruise as this will allow you to experience more of this incredible place. Halong Bay is a 4 hour drive from Hanoi and a 2 night cruise means you get to relax and enjoy, rather than feel rushed. Hanoi has changed so much, it has great vibe. I stayed in 2 different hotels either side of my Halong Bay cruise. May de Ville Old Quarter - awesome location, clean, comfy 3 star. Silk Queen Grand Hotel, just on the edge of the Old Quarter, this was a 4 star hotel with lovely rooms, a small but great roof top swimming pool and bar. Hanoi hotels are taxed on the size of their footprints so most hotels are narrow and tall. Hoi An is still my favourite place, it was a great place to finish my holiday. I stayed at Le Pavillon Hotel which is half way between the Old town and the beach. In my eyes this was perfect. Le Pavillon was off the road down a long driveway, (nice and quiet) lovely swimming pool with a swim up bar, good restaurant and spacious comfortable rooms. And a free shuttle to the Old town and beach. The old town although busy had a love buzz in the evenings with so many restaurants to choose from and night markets to stroll around. If you want clothes made - this is the place, every 2nd shop was a tailor. The beach was lovely during the day, the temperature of the sea was refreshing without being cold. There are seafood restaurants all along the front which offer sun loungers, cheap drinks/cocktails and lovely fresh seafood. Jetstar has direct flights to Hanoi from Sydney and Melbourne. Within Vietnam I flew both Vietjet & Jetstar, both were good." Kay now considers herself an expert on all things Vietnam after her 4th trip to the beautiful country and she would love to talk to you about all things Pho!
