13.01.2022 Who is able to attend OSHC from 20 April Term 2? From 20 April 2020, Queensland school students will be moving to a home-based learning model for the first 5 we...eks of Term 2. All students who are able to be supervised at home and learn from home are to stay home, except for vulnerable students and children of essential workers. The Department of Educations approach is outlined in the relevant FAQs and is: - children of essential workers on days when they are not able to be supervised at home and no other arrangements can be made. Essential worker means any worker who must continue to attend their workplace for essential business during this time - vulnerable children include children identified by schools or who: are currently receiving services from Child Safety, including children who are subject to a child protection order are subject to a youth justice order. - children in designated Indigenous communities. OSHC services will continue to be required to meet the National Quality Framework and to access their Federal Government Early Childhood Education and Care Relief Package payment, services must meet all the criteria outlined in the relevant FAQs https://www.dese.gov.au/covid-19/childcare/childcare-faq As at 16 April 2020, it should be noted that two of the key criteria state that services must: - remain open to provide sessions of child care to Child Care Subsidy eligible children, unless directed or advised to close by a health agency or state regulator - continue to prioritise care to essential workers, vulnerable and disadvantaged children and previously enrolled children. Therefore, a child may not attend a school during the day but require before and/or after school care to enable a parent time to both complete their working from home tasks and actively supervise their childrens learning throughout the day. FAQs can be found here https://earlychildhood.qld.gov.au//frequently-asked-questi
