25.01.2022 Jan Book of the Month As some of you may know, I’m an avid reader and so I thought I’d start a book of the month recommendation - a book that I’ve personally read and think would be worthwhile you picking up! This may eventually evolve into a book club where those who want to be involved vote on a book and we read that together and discuss at end of month, but let’s just see how this goes first ... So without further ado, January BOTM is The Push by Ashley Audrain. If you’re looking for a fast-paced thriller then this is for you. I gave The Push 4 - read my brief review below: This psychological thriller had me on the edge of my seat for two days. A story about Blythe Connor and her determination to be the kind of mother she never had to her daughter, Violet. The book takes you on Blythe’s journey and how exhausting and different motherhood is from what she expected. Violet is not in any way the child Blythe expected to have - she’s different a tendency towards violence and manipulative. Blythe’s husband only sees the best in Violet and so this causes friction and tension in their relationship. Once Blythe has her second child, finally this sense of connection she had always wanted, clicks into place with her newest child and she utterly adores her son, Sam. But obviously life gets turned upside down after one gut-wrenching incident and in an instant we’re left frantically turning the pages to find out what happens next. This novel is a great exploration at another side of motherhood. It’s cleverly written so that we begin to question the narrator and her truth - which is a continual theme throughout the novel with her husband constantly doing the same thing. It’s frustrating, immersive and a must read! Not to mention the ending... See more

18.01.2022 I’ve seen quite a few people picking a word to focus their 2021 versus making goals this year, and after a bit of reflection I’ve decided to do the same! While last year was a crazy time for everyone, I took a lot of lessons away from it professionally. And actually, the beginning of this year has been one of my most productive yet! I’ve been listening to @kristypask talk about perfectionism and how this effects day-to-day business in her new podcast, and it’s honestly been a... revelation to me To be able to put a label to it, be able to identify those habits and know how to retrain my brain (so here’s cheers to you, Kristy haha). And because of this, I’ve decided that my word for 2021 is going to be CONSISTENCY Consistently show up, consistently post, consistently be creative in some form, consistently self-care, consistently TRY. Because if I’ve learnt anything lately, it’s that by parking ideas, clients, projects, exciting/scary changes because they aren’t fully formed and perfect yet just means that I’m probably never going to do it or stick to it. Thanks for coming to my TED Talk.

It’s working so far (it’s day 1 )... What do you do to unleash your creativity and enhance your workspace?

12.01.2022 Now this was a fun project for one of my absolute fav clients Carinda was after some custom brand patterns that would compliment her visual identity by elevating her marketing collateral by adding some dimension. This particular pattern was inspired by Devil’s Ivy Representing growth and rebellion. Minimal yet bold.... There are SO many ways to elevate your brand’s visual identity. Start exploring how you could compliment your marketing collateral through colour, words, patterns, imagery, icons... and of course your logo!

10.01.2022 BRANDING SHOWCASE: Female Health + Performance Academy FHP Academy, founded by Nardia Norman is the education arm of the Nardia Normal brand. Dedicated to educating trainers to intrinsically understand women’s health and training, arm them practical tools, and become celebrated and sought-after trainers Nardia contacted me to update her visual identity on this subbrand, but wanted to make sure that it would be a recognisable branch of her overarching Nardia Norman brand.... Together we worked on understanding the brand values, target audiences and her emotional connectors. By keeping the brand colours similar to Nardia Norman (but working in a few secondary colours in the palette for a fresh take), and the subtle use of her iconic ‘+’ symbol, we were able to create a brand that can stand powerfully on its own, as well as fit seamlessly in her hero business to be identifiable as ‘Nardia’. Strong, modern and edgy... just like the FHP experience

09.01.2022 There’s SO much going on right now and that I’ve got up my sleeve (well, in my head) for upcoming side projects, that things are getting a little hectic in the world of King Street Creative! So whats-a-happenin this month? Finalising some new client branding projects. Boy these have been some biggies, and I’m excited to have been working with some AMAZING ladies to get this branding looking schmiko ... Work out my mat leave that’s right people I’m 31 weeks preggers and this gal is taking a break. How long for? Wellllll, that’s what I need to figure out haha! Break, what’s a break??? On that note, I’m totally booked up until this time, so if you were looking to utilise muh design skills, I’m taking bookings for mid year-ish. Start working on said side project. Imma let the mystery of this one keep ya’ll guessing Side note; how dang good is Aesop branding?! Putting together my February moodboard (late is better than never, thanks to The Business of Perfectionism for this gold nugget of wisdom) and decided to take a snap of this oh-so delicious hand cream gifted to me by my sister in law to include. Pink on pink on pinkkkkkkkk. Give me alllll the vibes.

09.01.2022 MADE THE CUT (Lol see what I did there??) A little logo love from SOHA Artistry of Hair branding last year ... SOHA is all about affordable luxe for your hair. That 5-star feeling without having to travel into the city for a banging cut and colour with a side of personal experience. We were all about the nudes and peaches for this brand palette, and simple, modern and timeless were the key words to achieve when looking about the logo itself. With a main logo, icon, brand colours, and social media images, this brand had the foundations set for bringing that high quality, relaxing feel to their clients

09.01.2022 LIL EARTH I worked on this beauty of a brand for @lilearth_aus a little while back now, but only just getting it up for ya'll peepers because ya girl's been busy, but it deserves a spotty LIL Earth is ALLLL about sustainability and being good to the earth These guys create boutique, ethically hand made clothing (it's all made from recycled fishing nets and plastic bottles people!!) and eco products, with an initial focus on active wear. With such strong brand values, ...it was only fitting that LIL Earth had a matching visual identity Get yourselves over to their page so you can grab a pair when they hit the shelves. I know I'll be hitting "BUY" as soon as they do!

08.01.2022 Love a little bit of white ink of 450gsm black Wedding stationery for Jordan and Nick, including this sweet little custom monogram While our main business focus for King Street Creative is generally small business branding, we do venture out every now and then when the right kind of design enquiry comes along and do something different like this suite

03.01.2022 FEB BOTM Yep, another thriller for book of the month post. Next month’s genre will be a little different for ya’ll, I promise, but I just couldn’t go past recommending this book. I could not put this down for days! It was soo dang good ... Mother Loves Me is Abby Davies debut thriller and is the super creepy story of Mirabelle and her very sheltered life with her mother. Mother calls her ‘little doll’, dresses her, paints her face, does her hair, expects only the best, doll-like behaviour from her. It’s when Mirabelle hits her 13th birthday and she begins to mature that things start to change and Mother isn’t so happy with her ‘little doll’ anymore. As a 13th birthday ‘gift’, Mother gives Mirabelle a brand new sister - 5 year old Clarabelle - who she’s rescued from the outside world. It’s as Mother’s affections begin to wane completely for Mirabelle and focus solely on Clarabelle, that Mirabelle begins to question her life and how Clarabelle truly came to be in it 4/5 read! I literally couldn’t stop until it was done!

02.01.2022 GLOW PILATES To create a sanctuary for men and women alike to utilise their ‘golden hour’ and practise self love, self care and self improvement. That’s the why. My girl @claire.mckeen decided to follow her passion and create a boutique pilates studio and the result is STUNNING! Seriously, check it out @glow.pilates ... She had a very clear vision of the studio from the very beginning and the feelings she wanted to evoke in her clients - from the moment they entered, to the the basking glow of movement and self love after they leave. So thanks to this, figuring out the audience, emotional connections, and values of Glow Pilates was all pretty easy! And together we created a little bit of magic in a brand that is very symbolic to pilates, ‘glow’, and creating that window of opportunity. Psst: thinking of upping your branding game? I’m booked out til beginning of January, so why not think about a new year, new you look?! : @glow.pilates
