03.01.2022 To celebrate the amazing efforts of the women involved in the "Strong and Kind" Tote Program, we have made a video to share some behind the scenes stories (in...cluding how we made the leap from a face to face manufacturing program to online craft classes and back again) and what it has meant to the refugee and new migrant women who participated. The program is a collaboration between Sydney Womens Fund and Ginger & Smart and The Social Outfit whereby women from our refugee and new migrant community learned how to manufacture a beautiful tote bag designed by Genevieve Smart using remnant fabrics. During Covid-19 lockdowns, the program was paused and we entered into 10 weeks of online craft classes to keep connected, support one anothers wellbeing, and learn new skills such as crochet, patchwork and... importantly.... how to make a face-mask . We are now super excited to share that with the new skills these women acquired, making face-masks in lock-down, we have been able to transition some of them into ongoing employment!! Welcome to the team Han, Khalida and MunMun - we love your dedication, positive attitude and community spirit and we could not be happier to welcome you to the TSO family!!
