19.01.2022 PILLOWS. A lot of people ask about pillows. Good ones are often pricey. A client told me recently that Harris Scarfe have big discounts on pillows at the moment. (maybe closing down sale???) For those neck, back and headache sufferers. A great opportunity to get a decent pillow at a decent price. A Xmas present to self perhaps? (I'm not affiliated with Harris Scarfe by the way) Choose a decent memory foam one to support your neck posture and some cheaper ones to pop under your knees, arm or back if needed. https://www.harrisscarfe.com.au//Beddi/Pillows/bed-pillows

19.01.2022 PAIN in the back of your ankle? But only when you START walking???? If it feels better when you’ve been walking for LONGER Only to get sore again once you’ve STOPPED.... It could be the Achilles tendon. Micro-tears create swelling around the tendon. Notoriously slow to heal and if ignored can get worse. The good news is you don’t have to be in pain for months on end. **Because it can be made better with targeted exercises** The latest evidence suggests two types of calf raise exercise can help - Isometrics and Isotonics. Instructions on how to do both are now up on the client resources section here http://kingstonbeachphysio.com.au/client-resources/#Achilles

15.01.2022 Effective Exercises To Stop Shoulder Pain Shoulder problems are the most common injury in all aquatic disciplines. It can lead to lost training time, worsening technique and disappointing end results. The best way to stop shoulder problems is to be proactive and stop them from developing in the first place. Here is a great video put together by the medical team from FINA about what exercises you can include in your regular routine to really reduce your risk of getting shoulder problems. It was made in 2012 but the scientific evidence behind what they are saying still holds today. Enjoy. https://youtu.be/tP7fV_d7cDQ?t=14

10.01.2022 If you have a STIFF NECK that gets SORE every time you turn your head when driving But heat packs, stretching or massages from your partner aren't fixing it. Perhaps the problem isn't just your neck but also your shoulder? If your shoulder isn't moving well it can pull downwards and sideways on your neck via the thick muscles that connect them together. Then every time you turn your head it winds up the tension making the little joints on the side of your neck stiff and sore.... But neck treatment on its own isn't going to get to the bottom of it. You need an approach that addresses the whole area AND brings it all together with corrective exercises. (Otherwise the problem just keeps coming back) Introducing the Deep Upper Quadrant Release treatment series from Kingston Beach Physiotherapy. Based on findings from nearly twenty years of physiotherapy expertise the DUQR approach uses a unique combination of dry needling, soft tissue tension release techniques, joint mobilisation, postural resetting and targeted exercises to get your neck moving ultra smoothly with full range of motion and most importantly ZERO PAIN. Now you can be confident you are getting safe, effective and comfortable treatment that delivers optimal results FAST. When pain free results are a must. 05.01.2022 I get a lot of questions about strengthening your "core" . Here's some practical exercises that will give you pretty good returns on your time and energy to do them.

04.01.2022 Howdy folks. Some people are booking in short appointments to address long standing issues. If there is not enough time then you may not get as thorough treatment which isn't satisfactory for either of us. Here is a reminder of some of the things to consider when deciding if you need a short or long session. Half hour session This is the first time you have had this problem ever The pain has come on in within the last ten days... The injury has come about from a trauma like an accident or a fall (ie a sprained ankle) You don't have a history of recurrent problems in other parts of your body Full hour session You have a history of a similar problem The pain has been present for longer than two weeks There hasn’t been any trauma or it’s hard to pinpoint what set off the pain You have previous issues with other areas of your body that have been slow or difficult to get on top of You have been having treatment elsewhere and not getting results
