25.01.2022 This weekend sees our Captain and his wife, celebrating their 21st wedding anniversary A perfect opportunity to not only wish them the most hearty of congratulations ... but also a moment, as volunteer firefighters, to acknowledge the immense sacrifices made, and the endless support and understanding of our families. The 'middle of dinner' call outs, the 'middle of the night' call outs, the 'halfway through the mowing the back lawn' call outs, the 'days away on strike team ...at the other end of the state / flying interstate to help out' call outs. Every single time, you support us. We couldn't do it without you

23.01.2022 It's official! Our brigade owned appliance, formerly known as Allendale Tanker, (as it was based at our satellite station, in Allendale) has been re-badged as 'Kingston Tanker 2' as it is now permanently based at Kingston Station. This will ensure that there are clearer communications with 'FireCom' (Formerly 'VicFire') regarding this appliance and avoid any confusion. ... Big thanks to the team at District 15 and CFA HQ, for their assistance! Now, to just get our new station approved and built!

23.01.2022 With this fire season very rapidly becoming a reality, and the memory of only last season, where our communities of Allendale and Broomfield were quickly under direct and immediate threat, we invite you to please register for these FREE Grassfire Planning Workshop webinars, hosted by the CFA Western Region Community engagement team. Fire behavior and Personal Safety & Planning will be covered in these two FREE sessions. https://au01web.zoom.us/j/69385332677

22.01.2022 Simply not good enough. Sad and infuriating. Please, ALWAYS ensure your campfires are 100% extinguished and cool to the touch.... Take care

21.01.2022 New Firefighters at Kingston Fire Brigade had their second practical training session last night - one more session to go! It's humbling to have people in our community volunteering their time - especially when their focus is to protect the lives and property of everyone else.

20.01.2022 Following up from our recent post ... fire season is no longer 'just around the corner'. It is here. Be prepared.

19.01.2022 Today marks the start of Men's Health Week, an annual event to encourage Australian men to come together and openly discuss health issues, needs and outcomes. Both on and off the fire ground, good health is absolutely vital, and it's important to take stock of your health and think about where you're at. Here's five easy actions you can do each day to help boost your wellbeing ... Connect. Be aware. Be active. Help others. Keep learning. 16.01.2022 The Kingston Fire Brigade would like you to take a moment to learn about the Dja Dja Wurrung, as they are the traditional custodians of this land where we live. They nurtured this land and used fire as a tool - We pay respect to Elders past, present and emerging. http://www.djadjawurrung.com.au

15.01.2022 Today we mark one year since the start of the devastating bushfires which deeply affected Victorian communities across the state. On 21 November, 2019 the first... ‘code red’ fire danger rating in almost a decade was declared in the Mallee and Northern Country, and dry lightning strikes in East Gippsland that started three fires which grew to a widespread bushfire disaster that burned for months. Today we reflect on the devastation and challenges that followed 21 November and the incredible support from all emergency services who came together to aid the communities impacted by the unprecedented fire season. 09.01.2022 Hard to imagine, as we huddle around the fireplace, immersed in / distracted by the current Covid climate, that our fire season is just around the corner. But now is the ideal time to begin discussions and writing those 'to do' lists, regarding how to best prepare your property and review your fireplans. More information available on the CFA website ... https://www.cfa.vic.gov.au/plan-prepare

08.01.2022 In the coming weeks there will be - should be - much attention broadcasted in regard to the 1st July starting date for Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) and the ramifications that the Andrews Government Fire Services Reform will have on the future of the Country Fire Authority. Unfortunately it seems that some decisions regarding the Fire Services Reform have been made without full consultation (via our CFA Volunteer representative body VFBV), volunteer involvement or adherence to ...the Volunteer Charter - in some cases promises have been broken. Throughout these coming weeks however, the Kingston Fire Brigade's volunteer firefighters will continue to serve, as we have since 1912, as your community firefighters. Please stand with us in support for our fellow 1,220 volunteer fire brigades across the state.

07.01.2022 A big thank you to the members and firefighters from Glenlyon Group and local brigades who attended at short notice a gathering this afternoon at Kingston Fire Station. The Courier and Nine News spent over an hour documenting the issues and the collective concern we have regarding the Fire Service Reform and the uncertainty that currently exists with volunteers and paid staff to the changes that will take place on Wednesday 1st of July. Brigades representing community volunteer firefighters across the state and at a local level were Leonards Hill, Trentham, Franklinford, Newlyn Dean, Kingston and Daylesford.

01.01.2022 From Monday's call out. This was a burn off that had been extinguished 3 months ago and checked several times since. Proof, that even after a number of months, the combination of high temps and higher winds have the potential to reignite and cause much greater fires. ... Big thanks to our neighbouring brigades for their support, as always!
