25.01.2022 Hooray, success across all 3 grades this weekend . The A Grade team returned to the site of their T20 victory from the previous Tuesday evening to once again take on The Blackmans Bay Sharks, this time in the 50 over format. Winning the toss and electing to bat, Stu ‘Super’ Clark and, returning from injury, Stu Conway opened for The Crows. Super out in the 3rd over with the score at just 11. Supers wicket bought Captain/Coach Rolla to the crease. The crowd was then enter...Continue reading
24.01.2022 Hooray, a win for our Hurricanes Junior League Stage 2 Team against South Hobart Sandy Bay tonight at The Nest . Bowling first the young Crowies had SHSB in early trouble at 3 wickets for 5 runs. Tight bowling by returning player Mason Turner (3 overs, 2 wickets for 9 runs), a first ever wicket to Henry Allanson, 3 run outs, good line & length bowling by all and good ground fielding enabled the young Crows to dismiss SHSB in the 19th over for 89. Despite losing an early wicket Henry Sward, Sam Brookwell and Lochie Fenney all retired not out with Willow Stainsby providing some big hitting to finish off SHSB, game won in the 15th over. Next weeks game is scheduled for The Nest, so fingers crossed for another home ground victory. Well done young Crowies !!!

24.01.2022 This weekend saw the commencement of the 2020/21 HCCA T20 competition. Game 1 vs Snug at The Nest was abandoned due to unacceptable playing conditions. Game 2 vs Kettering at Kettering. Winning the toss and batting first Stu 'Super' Clark & stand in skipper Mick Conway got the Crows innings underway. Super was dropped on the first ball he faced and made the Mariners pay for their early mistake. Mick & Super belted the Mariners attack around Kettering oval at a run rate in... excess of 10 runs an over, 1st wicket fell at 76 after 6 overs. Mick (44) & Super (33) fell in quick succession which bought Rollins to the crease with young gun Jake Downie joining him shortly thereafter. Downie went cheaply, Crows 3/89. Rolla was joined by new recruit and first gamer Andrew 'Ranbuild' Johnstone. Rolla (31) & Ranbuild (27) put on a 50 run partnership before both were caught within close succession, Crows 5/149. Last weeks batting hero Harry 'Bomma' Bomford went cheaply as did Cooke & Ayliffe, Crows 8/159. Ash Hutchinson & Sam 'SOS' Rose managed 24 runs off the last two overs which included a self-described 'MASSIVE' six from SOS. Crows 8/183 off their allotted 20 overs. In a rare move, spinner Dane 'Swanny' Ayliffe took on opening bowling duties. This gamble paid off with the wicket of Ketterings hard hitting opener, Cam Wheately, coming in just the 2nd ball of the opening over. SOS struck in the second over, Kettering 2 for 3. Swanny finished his 4 over set with impressive figures of 1 for 13 off 4 overs. SOS got carted in his 2nd over (went for 16) which resulted in a bowling change. Ranbuild bowling for the first time for his new club captured 2 wickets for 20 runs off his 4 overs, Jake Downie bowled tightly finishing with 4 overs 1 wicket for 8 runs, Ash Hutchinson picked up a wicket during his two over stint for 8 runs, SOS was bought back into the attack and captured two wickets in an over finishing with 3 overs 3 wickets for 18 runs and Tadpole only needed 3 balls to take the last Kettering wicket for 1 run. Kettering bowled out for 86 in the 17th over. The Crows hit 26 boundaries in their innings, tight bowling restricted Kettering to just 7, the Crows held 8 catches and got a run-out in a classy fielding exhibition. The next T20 match is 5pm, Tuesday the 1st of December against local rival Blackmans Bay at Sherburd Oval. GO CROWS See more

18.01.2022 Post training activities for The Crows went down a different path tonight when we hosted James from the SPEAK UP! Stay ChatTY organisation. James, a Project Officer with SPEAK UP! Stay ChatTY, spoke to players, supporters & followers of The Crows about mental health & resilience. An important conversation to have is around the mental health topic, the importance of speaking up when you're struggling, there is no shame in asking for help or asking someone if they are ok, and the importance of providing support to your friends & loved ones during their time of need. It's ok not to be okay.
18.01.2022 Same results as last week, 2 wins & a loss for The Crows. On Saturday A Grade hosted Slab at The Nest. Winning the toss and electing to bat didn’t provide the benefit Slab thought it would, being 3 down for 27 runs early on thanks to some tight bowling by Woody & SOS, combined with supportive fielding. The introduction of Swanny bought another wicket with Slabs top 4 batsmen out with the score on 41 after 15 overs. A 40 run Slab partnership was broken by Swanny thanks to the...Continue reading

13.01.2022 1st Dec 20 - T20 - Crows defeated Blackmans Bay. In a rain affected match, The Crows defeated local rival Blackmans Bay on their home ground at Sherburd Park. Batting first The Crows posted 185 off their allotted 20 overs. Donno 49 n.o off 24 balls, Woody 37 n.o off 15 balls & Jake Downie 22 off 14 balls were the main contributors. The Blackmans Bays innings was interrupted by a rain delay in the 6th over with the score at 3 out for 61 runs. The weather, rain & hail, forced... the players from the field. Upon returning to the field, the Blackmans Bay target score was adjusted to 111 with just 4 overs remaining. At the end of their 11 over allotment Blackmans Bay fell short of the adjusted score, namely 4 out for 94 runs. 06.01.2022 Round 3 completed, 2 wins and a loss. On Saturday A Grade headed to Kettering again. After easily accounting for Kettering last week in the T20 comp the A's were made to work a little harder for their win on Saturday. Bowling first, openers Woody & SOS were unable to take a wicket in their first 12 overs. A bowling change bought immediate success when Tadpole Cordwell cartwheeled a leg stump, Kettering 1 for 56. Spinner Downie held onto a sharp return catch then took anothe...Continue reading
