25.01.2022 Futsal Super 5s - Melbourne Round 11 Kingston Royals 4-1 CanDunk FC Squad & Goals George Paschalidis Brian Lim (1)... Thai Truong (1) Samir Makssi (1) Charlene Leung Grace Chan Brianna Cain (1) David La After last week's result, we needed to get ourselves back to winning ways. An always challenging game against CanDunk FC, who defended stoutly throughout, making it hard for us to score. Their goalkeeper also played a great game, making numerous saves. It took us until the last 4 minutes of the first half to go 2 goals up, thanks to Samir & Brianna, before our opponents pulled one back to make it 2-1 at half time. In the second half, it was a bit sloppy, as we failed to capitalise on our chances. Our opponents also didnt have that many opportunities to score. Eventually we put the game away thanks to Brian and TT towards the end of the second half, a deserved win despite it not being our best performance. PappaRich Australia MVP: Brian Lim

17.01.2022 Futsal Super 5s - Melbourne - Round 9 Kingston Royals 9-0 Marvel FC Squad and Goals: George Paschalidis Thai Dao (3)... Samir Makssi (4) Charlene Leung Claire Longden (1) Brianna Cain Michael Chak Mink Leung David La (1) We took on Marvel FC in what promised to be an intriguing encounter. Thankfully for the Royals, we were high on confidence and fresh off a victory, meaning we were inclined to attack from the start. We struck early and consistently, as resident insta hubby Thai Dao smashed in a hattrick, and the returning Samboy continued to grow on confidence, netting 4 very well worked finishes, often tormenting his opponents with speed and ability to cut in and finish. The voice also got on the board with a trademark header, while Claire finished off a well worked team move. Overall we controlled the game both in attack and defense, limiting our opponents to very few chances. It meant our second consecutive cleansheet heading into an important clash against Expected Toulouse. PappaRich Australia MVP: Samir Makssi
16.01.2022 Futsal Super 5s - Melbourne Round 8 Kingston Royals 7-0 The Kandi Shop George Paschalidis (3) Brianna Cain (1) Melkamnesh Johnstone (1)... Thai Dao (1) Samir Makssi (1) Charlene Leung Michael Chak Mink Leung After last week’s come from behind victory, the Royals faced an unknown opponent in The Kandi Shop. Although not actually played in a candy shop, it was played in a hot and sweaty Sportlink arena. We controlled much of the game, only having ourselves to blame with some poor finishing early on. It took us till 10 minutes into the first half to break the deadlock, as a lobbed pass from George was expertly flicked on by Charlene into the path of Thai Dao, who deputising for the missing Brian & Roger, calmly slotted home to give us a 1-0 lead. We soon doubled our advantage thanks to long range swerving strike from George to make it 2-0 at the half. With some better finishing in the second half, we soon ran up a few more goals. George finished his second of the game and soon had his first career hattrick as a goalkeeper as he was allowed to bring the ball up to finish past the keeper from range. Melku then finished a well worked team move as the tiger expertly teed her up for an empty net finish, while Bri cashed in on a long range tiger pass to slot through the keeper’s legs. To round off the magnificent 7 on the night, Sammy intercepted after defending well the entire night and snagged himself a goal upon return as he lobbed the keeper into the empty net with tremendous composure. A solid all round performance from the Royals as we maintain touch with the top 4 approaching the half way point. PappaRich Australia MVP: George Paschalidis
14.01.2022 Futsal Super 5s - Melbourne Round 10 Kingston Royals 2-2 Expected Toulouse Squad & Goals George Paschalidis ... Michael Chak Mink Leung Brian Lim Roger Lai Samir Makssi Charlene Leung Grace Chan Brianna Cain We took on ladder leaders Expected Toulouse in what promised to be a tense encounter, as we welcomed back familiar faces Brian & Roger. In what was a tense opening, we managed to have our fair share of the play, however found ourselves a goal down as a long range shot was redirected at close range by Brian into the goal. We responded positively however as we soon equalised through the clutch tiger off a well worked corner piece with Samir. The tiger then unfortunately went down with an injury and didn’t return. Heading into half time the game remained evenly poised, however to start the second half our opponents had more of the chances to score and broke through off an attacking corner giveaway, as they put away the 1 v 1 to take a 2-1 lead with about 10 minutes to play. Our opponents continued to play to their 5th man strengths to possess the ball, which in the end nearly had them undone at the back as Brian narrowly missed an empty net as it bounced off the crossbar. On the second calling however, George put away the drop kick over the advanced goalkeeper with 6 minutes to play. At 2-2 it lead to a cagey finish, with both sides creating half chances to win it, y et nothing definitive in the way of a golden opportunity. In the end we shared the spoils. PappaRich Australia MVP: George Paschalidis
13.01.2022 Futsal Super 5s - Melbourne Round 12 Kingston Royals 9-1 Team Patrick Squad & Goals George Paschalidis Roger Lai ... Brianna Cain Michael Chak Mink Leung Samir Makssi Lisa Aliotta Charlene Leung After a sub-par performance last week, we got our groove back against Team Patrick. We chalked up an early goal to start the game through a delightful Sammy flick. The game remained 1-0 for a while as we failed to convert on a couple of chances, but our defensive effort and ball movement was much improved. We then stormed into the half with an avalanche of goals, the pick of the bunch scored by Brianna who took it down the right touchline and put it top bins from a seemingly impossible angle. 4-0 at the half and we continued to assert dominance in the second half, the tiger finishing backpost, Sammy scoring another delightful flick and off the back header & the returning Roger scoring on the volley after a Charlene Leung pinpoint lob pass. The only blip coming late on as a side ball sailed through and deflected off a sea of bodies to end up in the net. Nonetheless, a pleasing performance heading into the business end of the season. PappaRich Australia MVP: Brianna Cain Not only did Bri score a wonder goal, but her defensive efforts were amazing and also linked play and moved off the ball extremely well. Arguably one of our most consistent players every week, but a great two way effort this week contributing to a lot of positive forward movements.

07.01.2022 Futsal Super 5s - Melbourne - Round 7 Kingston Royals 4-3 ACL Comebacks Squad: George Paschalidis (1) James Robson (2)... Roger Lai (1) Charlene Leung Claire Longden Brianna Cain Michael Chak Mink Leung David La We took on the ever formidable opponent in ACL Comebacks. After dropping our previous match we were keen to bounce back. However things didn't start as planned, as Ed and John hit early to have us trailing by 2. Our sole first half goal thanks to Roger Lai was then cancelled out, with an error leaving us exposed on the counter, making it 3-1 at the half. We couldn't really get going in the first half as we needed to make adjustments to bring ourselves back into the game. The key half time changes ensured we held firm at the back, keeping a clean sheet for the entire second half. With the name comeback at the forefront of this clash, it was the Royals who would storm home. With 8 minutes to go, George kick started a counter attack and struck from a side ball to make it 3-2, before resident Instagram model James Robson belted the leather off the ball to bring it back to 3-3. The game ebbed and flowed for the last 5 minutes, as we both created chances but both defences stood firm. It came down to the last minute. We continued to push hard for the winner and after winning a corner, the tiger Mikey teed up James who would finish from close range on his trusty left peg. We held out the final 10 seconds as we notched a crucial win in the context of the season, remaining in the top 4 chase. We also welcomed back the voice who gave us limited minutes in his return, as we look to get him involved long term as part of squad rotation. PappaRich Australia MVP: James Robson
04.01.2022 Futsal Super 5s - Melbourne - Round 13 Kingston Royals 6-0 Kicks & Giggles Squad & Goals George Paschalidis (2)... Claire Longden (2) Michael Chak Mink Leung Brian Lim (1) Roger Lai (1) Lisa Hardy Charlene Leung Samir Makssi PappaRich Australia MVP: Claire Longden In an important clash for the top 4, the Royals took on Kicks & Giggles. We started the stronger even though our opponents played 5th man from the outset to try and set the tempo. A long range shot was caught by George who lobbed the keeper to give us a 1-0 start. The game evened out over the mid part of the first half, with both teams having chances but being unable to convert. Approaching half time, we rattled off 3 goals in the last 5 minutes to see ourselves 4-0 up at the half. The returning snail got on the end of a long range throw, while our MVP on the night Claire finished off 2 delightful through balls, showing composure in winning her 1 on 1 battle with the keeper both times. The second half was more of a controlled performance, playing hard on defense and launching with quick counter attacks. This left space for Rog to make it 5-0 as he was in open space, winning the 1 v 1 on his opponent and then calmly finishing past the keeper. Our opponents pressed hard again with more 5th man play, however another long range shot was caught by George who again lobbed the keeper to make it 6 and put the game beyond doubt. Most pleasing was another clean sheet, as we continued to make it hard for our opponents for the entire game. Although they created some good chances, it was often under pressure and we won more than our fair share of tackles and interceptions. Great win by the team as we consolidate 4th place, and look to lock up a finals spot in the coming weeks.

02.01.2022 Futsal Super 5s - Melbourne - Round 14 Kingston Royals 3-2 Squatting Slavs Squad & Goals George Paschalidis Lisa Aliotta... Michael Chak Mink Leung Roger Lai (3) Brianna Cain Charlene Leung Samir Makssi PappaRich Australia MVP: Roger Lai After last week's big win, we took on another strong opponent in Squatting Slavs. Thankfully, we stormed out of the gate thanks to the in form Roger Lai, who finished a trademark roll on his left foot and then another on his right to give us an early 2 goal buffer. Our opponents to their determination and credit got back into the game, creating numerous chances and eventually capitalising on a breakdown to bring it back to 2-1 at the half. Importantly, we started the stronger and reestablished our 2 goal lead as Roger sealed his hattrick, setup by the tiger Mikey who was up and about with his 1 touch layoff. Our opponents pulled a goal back with 10 minutes to go, to set up an edgy finish. Both teams created some good chances. Wwe couldn't find the 4th goal to put the game away, but most importantly we stayed strong at the back, not allowing the equaliser, thanks to hard defending by Char, Brianna & Sammy in the closing minutes. The win consolidates our top 4 place, as we look to wrap up our finals berth in the coming weeks.
