25.01.2022 sometimes the best way to take a look at yourself and your kink journey is to take a step back. I have long believed in the transformative power of bdsm and the myriad skills it helps build and strengthen. One of the most vital skills I’ve developed through my kink life is the confidence and ability to set, respect and express my own boundaries to the same extent I respect those of others. this year I’ve been on an incredibly humbling journey of major health issues and le...arning to adjust my life and expectations to my fluctuating physical ability with chronic fatigue. Of course this has impacted all areas of my life, but finding myself unable to play the way I love was and still sometimes is very confronting. But of course, you can’t keep a good kinkster down. Taking time, taking a step back has let me look at myself and my situation, my kinks and my passions, and realise that there are so many things I CAN do! EDUCATION for the public. 1. This is just wrong to do. This is abusive controlling behavior and the doctor who is enabling this should lose their license. This young person and all young people deserve the rights to their bodies and parents who respect their bodily autonomy and build trust so that they can be someone to turn to for support as needed. . . . HYMENS (aka vaginal corona) Fun Fact: the hymen is not a safety seal on a can of purity. This is not a cherry that you pop. The hymen is a bit of tissue that exists inside the vagina for some people. A lot of people are born without hymens and for people born with hymens they can look a lot of ways. Hymen variations can range from a few small pieces of tissue, to an ovular shape, to shapes that look like little rivers in a wall of tissue, and MORE. Please see above illustration from Scarleteen for a few examples. In many cases it is elastic and stretchy. Think about it- if someone had a hymen which was a solid wall (can occur in some rare cases) there would be a block in the flow of menstrual blood. The tissue that makes up the hymen can stretch, move, and change in shape due to everyday activities like biking, stretching, wearing tampons, LIVING, etc. A tampon or a bike cannot take someone’s virginity just because some tissue in their body stretched. Also virginity is a social construct and not something you can take from someone else. The idea that the cherry needs to pop and that their should be blood and pain for the first time someone with a vagina has sex with a penis is DEEPLY ROOTED IN PATRIARCHAL BS, OVER VALUING MALE PLEASURE AT THE EXPENSE OF WOMEN’S PAIN AND SUFFERING. It makes me really sad and angry that so many people expect women to experience pain and bleeding during vagina-penis sex. This is not about popping a cherry but often about not going slow enough and not using enough lube which can cause vaginal tearing. Less so about tearing the elastic, stetchy hymen and more about tearing the walls of the vagina because boys/men are taught to be jack hammer aggro when they have sex and there is stigma and lack of info/access about lube. In conclusion: 1. The cherry is a myth 2. Hymens come in a variety of fun shapes and sizes 3. Sex shouldn’t inherently hurt - if it does it could mean you need to go slower, use more lube, or talk to your doctor
