13.01.2022 Happy International Women's Day (Week) for Monday, 8 March. I want to reiterate what I wrote on Instagram as I got quite a bit of engagement, which means what I shared is important and should also be heard on Facebook: ***... Today is a reminder for us all to celebrate brilliant women from all industries, age, class, religion, culture, sexual orientation & circumstance This year the theme is #ChooseToChallenge and I challenge all women to self-promote themselves better: their talents, their skills and their achievements. The list goes on. Today, I start this challenge by acknowledging myself. For generations, women have kept quiet about their intelligent minds from fear of being unattractive, too outspoken or inappropriate. Even women who have the freedom to work are afraid of talking about their achievements, because it’s viewed not modest and apparently female assertiveness is bitchy. My name is Isabelle Ng and I started KINOI alone because I wanted to make a change on single use bubble tea plastic. I was 20 years old in the beginning of 2019 when I thought of the idea, and for the longest time I never acknowledged it was a one-woman business! I would only film when friends & family help to show as if there is a huge team, when in fact most of the time, it’s me alone. Even as I am typing this, I feel I need to give credit to my friends & family who have supported me all the way.. but I should cut myself some slack and give myself credit too! Women are definitely less comfortable to say I in a sentence I achieved this, and instead say We did this or I achieved this... but with the help of (etc). Let’s change this! So to young girls, working ladies, mothers, caring grandmothers, incredible wives & single women... let’s celebrate and acknowledge our everyday achievements. 03.01.2022 When people or businesses say they use "biodegradable plastic" it's really worrying as these plastics are not necessary made from plant-based materials. Sometimes, it actually means "traditional fossil-fuel plastics" that can be "broken down" easily into micro plastics. These small fragments actually harm our environment even more because it goes into our water ways, animals' stomachs and destroy our soils.... That is why it is best to avoid all plastic labelled "biodegradable" so you won't be a victim of "green washing".
