24.01.2022 On Friday last week we held our 2020 Golden Alumni Function which was well attended with 170 guests travelling from all over Australia. Our Principal invited Alumni members from PLC Orange and Wolaroi College, who completed their schooling more than 50 years ago to attend our event. It was a fantastic day that included a chapel service followed by school tours; lunch was then served within our Derek Pigot Auditorium. It was great to see so many people reconnecting and remini...scing. Our special guest speaker for the event was Mr Gary Dudgeon from the Class of 1970, who spoke about his efforts in bringing his peers back together after many years of lost contact. The Class of 1970 is one of our most connected and active year groups amongst our Alumni community, with many trips and overseas holidays which happen amongst this group of friends on a yearly basis. Thank you to all those individuals who attended, we hope to see you at our next event. This photo gallery will soon be available on our schools website.
23.01.2022 On their last school day, the HSC Class of 2020 enjoyed Valete Chapel Services to celebrate their journey, to give thanks and to share prayers for the future. As their Mentors acknowledged every student individually, it was a morning full of laughter and sentimentality. #classof2020 #kinrosswolaroischool #farewell

11.01.2022 A fantastic write up from the ABC about Leilanie Andrews (Class of 2015) and her teammate Courtney Currie (Class of 2018) about their experiences within Rugby Union and what the sport has provided. These talented athletes earned selection in the First Nations Sevens women's squad, which came out of Rugby Australia's Dream Big Time tour to unearth Indigenous talent from regional communities. Watch this space, this won't be the last time we hear about the pair. Both women harbour ambitions to play rugby at a higher level, with Currie shooting for the Uni 7s series, and Andrews eyeing off a spot in the NSW Waratahs Super W team. https://www.abc.net.au//leilanie-andrews-struggle/12306542

07.01.2022 The Kinross Wolaroi School Community joins with other members of the Orange community to mourn the death of Mr Peter Veenstra OAM, who died on Sunday 27 Septemb...er after a long illness. Deepest condolences are extended from the entire Kinross Wolaroi community to Peter’s family and friends. Mr Veenstra began his employment at Kinross Wolaroi in 1984 and retired at the end of Semester One 1999, after 15 years’ service as a teacher and leader. He was Senior Tutor for 12 years, developing the Tutor system to become a prominent part of School life. During his time at the School he taught Mathematics, Computing Studies, Design & Technology, Agriculture and Religious Education. Peter was heavily involved in the full life of the school and he held a long term role as Head of the Resource Department, which included the ‘Gifted and Talented’ program and academic support. For his final two years he took on the role of Personal Assistant to the Principal, Mr Alan Anderson. From his first year at the School, Mr Veenstra was involved in coaching and supporting the School’s rugby program. He was appointed MIC Rugby in 1991 and in 1992 was a member of the NSW Rugby Union Coaching and Development Committee. For many years he coached the 2nd XV and was Team Manager of the 1st XV. In 1995 he coached the 13B to an undeafeated WAS premiership, with another premiership the following year as the 14B. Peter coached and umpired the 15A and 2nd XI cricket teams as well as athletics over the years. He was also a Lieutenant in the Cadets, running an automotive course where cadets learned to service the School troopies and four-wheel bikes. Peter’s love of rugby persisted throughout his life, seeing him serve as CEO of the Central West Rugby Union for 31 years and decades of service on the Board of the NSW Country Rugby Association, later serving as its Patron. In 2017 he was awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia for service to rugby union, and to the community of Orange. The award acknowledged his work with community organisations including Royal Far West, Australian National Field Days, Orange Police Citizens Youth Club, Lyndon Community Drug and Alcohol Service and as a Councillor for the Cabonne Shire Council. On a light-hearted note, stories of his time at the school include his ‘special’ gear changes whilst driving the bus to Guthega for the annual ski trip, as well as inadvertently dropping Mr Holmes and Mr Hibbard in a location that forced them to carry a boat down a ravine for an ill-fated cadet camp reconnoitre. Peter was a loved and respected member of the Kinross Wolaroi School community.
06.01.2022 Dear Alumni, The KWS Ex-Students’ Association (ESA) is looking to hold a number of events in 2020 and beyond. The aim of these events is to provide our Alumni a social and networking opportunity. These events have been subsidised by the ESA in the past and those that have attended said they were a great opportunity to socialise. Over the next few years the ESA is focused on giving back to our Alumni members and is eager to provide opportunities for individuals to reconnect t...hrough social occasions. As an association we would love to increase the prominence of such events and it would be great if we could receive up to date information for those that may be interested. We understand that updating your contact information can often be of a low priority when moving or when your details change. However, this is important when we look to provide relevant details relating to these social occasions or more importantly our annual school reunion details. The main form of communication from the Association in the future will be through email, but also through this Facebook page and the established Facebook Year group pages. However, your residential address is also helpful in providing information about social occasions that may be occurring in your area. If you could spare a moment it would be greatly appreciated if you could send an email to [email protected] with your Year 12 cohort year, current residential address, contact number and maiden name if necessary. It would be great if you could send this email from your personal email account that you will use indefinitely into the future. If we are provided with an email address that relates to your employment or to an organisation we are unable to maintain contact if that email is no longer valid. Feel free to include your current industry and occupation if you would like. If you are in contact with a large number of your peers, it would be great if you could help spread the word! We hope to see you at one of many functions and reunions in 2020 and beyond. Kind regards, The KWS ESA Association.
