24.01.2022 Lest we forget. Today we marked Remembrance Day at 11:00am with the minute's silence introduced by Head Prefects; Vienna and Gary. The eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month in 1918 was the moment when hostilities ceased as the peace agreement was achieved. We will remember them.

17.01.2022 KINROSS COLLEGE URBAN PANTRY COMING SOON Our wonderful Chaplain, Ilze Rautenbach, is moving on. We are really sad to see her go as she has been a huge support to our students. Ilze is leaving us with something really amazing that she has been quietly creating over a period of months, the Kinross Urban Pantry! Sadly, there are families and individuals here in Kinross who could do with some help to put food on the table or to keep their household healthy. This is one way th...at as a community we can join together to provide a little support on an ongoing basis. We are really excited to see this project come to fruition and hope that as part of the Kinross community you might be able to help from time to time. WE NEED YOUR HELP: To enable us to offer this vital support to others we are calling for donations. If you are able to help, we are seeking non-perishable food and household items which can be dropped off at two locations: 1. Kinross IGA (where you see a donation box labeled with ‘Food for Friends’, (in situ from 2 pm Friday 19 March) or 2. Kinross College - Administration Office between 8 am and 4 pm on school days. Students can also drop off donations at the Student Services Reception as they head in. OPENING TIMES: The pantry will be open for the first time on Monday 29 March for parents to access and will be open regularly each school week at these quiet times when students are in class. (Closed during public and school holidays). Monday, between 8:50 am and 10:00 am Tuesday, between 2:00 pm and 2:45 pm The pantry is on wheels and will be wheeled out and located at the same spot each week; within the bounds of the Kinross College site but in a quiet spot accessible from the steps on Kinross Drive or the pathway from the Kinross College turning circle. See starred location on the map. We'd like to thank Mr. Wayne Burtenshaw, Design & Technology Teacher here at Kinross College who has been a huge support in making this idea a physical reality.

15.01.2022 Some of our Year 7 students in Mrs. Cromptons' HASS class made pledges about what they're willing to switch for nature. Earth Hour is the largest global environmental movement and tomorrow (Saturday 27 March) you are not only encouraged to turn out the lights between 8:30pm to 9:30pm but there are many ways everyone can get involved by making the #SwitchforNature. We have students pledging to turn off the tap whilst brushing their teeth! Some pledged to turn off lights in ro...oms they were not occupying and some pledged to limit their showers to only 4mins! So the challenge has been set... what will you #SwitchforNature? Public education in Western Australia

13.01.2022 Our Year 7 HASS students joined Ms. Lynch to place a worm starter kit into the composting sub-pod we have in one of our fruit tree garden beds. This is the first of a few to follow. The idea is to be able to dispose of some of our food waste here and enrich the soil at the same time. There are heaps of flowers on the lime trees so we are sure to have a great crop next time. A BIG thank you to Waste Wise Schools Program for the worm starter kit donation. Our College values: R...ESPECT - INSPIRE - SUPPORT - EXCEL Respect: Showing respect for our environment and sharing public spaces responsibly Inspire: Modelling positive behaviours language and uniform Support: Participating in co-operative learning Inspire: Actively participate in improving the community environment
13.01.2022 A really good read ...
13.01.2022 Congratulations to all those who participated at the whole school House Carnival last week and to those who won a spot on the podium over the course of the events. The most house points were awarded to Harena, followed by Aecor in second place, Ventus in third, and Solis in the fourth position. The weather was perfect for the event and it was lovely to see so many parents and families come to support their children. This year some of the tabloid activities were a little diff...erent from what we usually plan and most noticeably it was the presence of the 'Dunk the Teacher' activity. As you could well imagine, this was a very entertaining and nail-biting activity. Teachers subjected to the cold seat included Mr. Whitehead, Mr. Avenell, Mr. Zeeman, Mr. Gunnis, and Mr. Barclay. A straight aim was needed to hit the target trigger and it was lovely to see the joy on everyone's faces when a student did manage to trigger the dunk! See more
11.01.2022 This term Kinross College competed in the annual Fremantle Dockers AFL Women's Lightning Carnival. Two teams entered the comp; a junior (Year 7 and 8 girls) and a senior team (Year 9 and 10 girls). Each team competed in 7 games throughout the day against other schools with established football programs. Our year 7/8 team competed very well and just missed out on the grand final by a percentage. Many of the girls play sport at a high level outside of school and it showed on th...e day with the girls narrowly missing out on a chance to win the event. Standout players were Tiana (Year 7), Taylah (Year 8), and Lahnekai (Year 8) who were consistently leading by example on and off the field. Our Year 9/10 comprised of many natural athletes, however, our football experience was limited compared to the other teams we played. As the day progressed the girl's athleticism and gameplay strategy continued to improve with us winning games and finishing with 3 wins and 4 losses. Kiahn (Year 10), Mischa (Year 10), and Tyrah (Year 10) showed determination throughout the day and their talent for the sport. With this being our first successful AFL Women's event of the year, I look forward to building upon what we achieved this term. Thank you to Mr Zeeman, Ms Frazer and Mr Stambulich for this event. https://www.facebook.com/WestPerthWomensFootball/posts/3736659929723075
11.01.2022 Lovely morning for a bike ride. Our Year 8 Recreation Activity students happy to pursue challenge and adventure!
10.01.2022 Students have been choosing to take part in HASS Week activities during recess and lunch this week. On Monday they were learning words from Indigenous language and today they took part in a scavenger hunt. Tomorrow they can view TED Talks and Thursday and Friday they can get comfortable with popcorn (in room B6) to watch the PG movie 'In my blood it runs'. Thank you HASS Team for these inspired activities!

07.01.2022 The whole school had an awesome time at the KC P&C inaugural Colour Fun day. Students got to run the course, get blasted with colour, water and bubbles! Teachers were dunked in the tank and students battled one another on the Tug of War and Slip and Slide. The day was a great opportunity just to have fun at the end of a challenging year. Thank you to our very supportive P & C for bringing this event to the College and to Joondalup Fire Station for their support and attendance on the day. Public education in Western Australia

01.01.2022 Mr. Whitehead's Compass class and Ms. Thompson's Year 10 KEA HASS class presented at the Mindarie SC Sustainability EXPO today. The Compass group had on display some upcycled, discarded items they sourced from Tamala Park which included a fish tank that lives in their classroom with their new pet fish; Fush & Chups! It was really lovely to see so many of our old students, now grown up in Years 11 and 12. The EXPO had some really interesting stalls including some animals and reptiles that our students adored. Thank you Mindarie Senior College for this great event.
