25.01.2022 Its been a very busy month. The flora is starting to regenerate and the land is starting to come alive again. Unfortunately for us we have seen many of the hiv...es that survived the Kangaroo Island fires now diminish. Some of these are because the queen has been heated so much she can no longer lay fertilised eggs and others because there simple isnt enough food to go around. We have been feeding many hives using the feeders but this isnt going to get us through these hard times without your help. We still need your support. To those who have already donated, thank you. Unfortunately, as the situation has worsened and with the new restrictions announced last night we have now closed Little Sahara and Kangaroo Island Outdoor Action until further notice. Thank to our amazing team for their awesome work this season in very challenging conditions, for delivering consistently excellent experiences making us the #1 Outdoor Activity and Tour on Kangaroo Island.... To our fantastic guests, thank you for your support, for visiting us and for the nearly 2000 mostly 5 star reviews across Trip Advisor, Google and Facebook. We will be back open again as soon as possible, however in these uncertain times we are unable to say when that will be at this stage and will let you know as soon as we can. Of course if you have an existing booking during this period that you made directly with us, we can offer you the choice of, postposing your booking to a later date, transferring the credit to a voucher, or giving you a full refund. Since we would love to see you once this is all over, if you chose to just postpose your tour booking, we will give you a FREE Private Tour Upgrade (normally $297) so it is just your group and the guide. We are looking for people across two sites in various roles:... Experienced ‘Adventure Tour Guide’ to work at Little Sahara and Vivonne Bay, leading guided tours on quad bikes, buggies, fat bikes and kayaks. Experienced ‘Retail/Sales Assistant’ to work at Little Sahara, greeting customers, providing information and ensuring visitors have the most memorable experience possible. Junior ‘Eco-Adventure Assistants’ at both Little Sahara and Vivonne Bay to help our guides preparing for tours and cleaning equipment, providing information to customers. Weekends and School Holidays. ‘Bookkeeper’ with experience using Xero for up to 8 hours/week. Each role requires slightly different skills, however overall we are looking for staff who are: Physically fit and can work quickly in a busy environment Team players who can take ownership of what they bring to the team Passionate about the outdoors and what Kangaroo Island has to offer A fun loving ‘can do’ attitude These casual positions are up to 37 hours per week (depending on the role), based near Vivonne Bay on Kangaroo Island. 11.01.2022 This female Rosenberg Goanna was spotted on tour digging a chamber in a termite mound to lay her eggs. After laying her eggs she then slightly covered the chamber and let the termites finish the job, fully encasing the eggs ready for incubation.
