Employment Type: Permanent Full Time Position Classification: Administration Officer Level 2 Remuneration: $55,631.75 - $57,588.44 per annum Hours Per Week: 38 Requisition ID: REQ174644 Patient Support Officer John Hunter Children's Hospital John Hunter Children's Hospital functions as an autonomous facility with its own management structure and independent clinical support functions. The Children's Hospital provides clinical experience relevant for both family practice and specialty training. It has 114 inpatient beds including general and sub-specialty paediatrics, paediatric surgery, adolescent medicine, neonatal intensive care and a Level II nursery. The Patient Support Officer will be working on John Hunter Children’s Hospital Adolescent Ward and the busy Day Surgery unit. The position works across two wards: Ward J2A is a 12 bed ward for young people over the age of 12. Patients receive care from a wide range of surgical and medical teams including respiratory, endocrine, neurology, general medicine orthopaedics, and general surgery. Ward J2DS is a 14 bed Day Stay Unit for children up to 18 years of age. Patients will be admitted to day stay for planned, day only medical admissions not requiring an overnight stay. You will be responsible for meeting and greeting members of the community and other stakeholders, via phone and in person. The position is integral in the day to day management of confidential information regarding patient’s hospital stay. The role will also be required to assist the Nurse Unit Manager in the planning and implementation of bed management within the unit. You will be supported during the onboarding process with training in Clinical Applications used by the position as well as supernumerary training shifts with established team members.
