24.01.2022 Here I am madly mixing up individualised herbal blends for my patients this afternoon - herbs, herbs, herbs everywhere ! Having over 130 herbs in my dispensary gives me enormous scope to specifically tailor my herbal prescriptions to your individual needs - my herbal dispensary is definitely one of my joys in practice. Thanks to the lovely Charlotte for snapping this photo of me today . Hope to see some of you soon in clinic, but don’t forget that I can consult with you online over Zoom if you’d prefer to stay at home . Until then wash your hands, eat nutritious foods, meditate to reduce your stress, and be kind to each other .

21.01.2022 ONLINE CONSULTATIONS All my consultations are moving online this week using Zoom, given the increasing COVID-19 situation. I’ve had several local patients already utilising this service, and it’s essentially exactly the same as sitting across the desk from me, except were both looking into a camera (or at least trying to) ! I’ve used Zoom for all my distance and interstate clients for a couple of years now, so I can assure you that Zoom is really straightforward to use - yo...u can access Zoom using your mobile phone, tablet or computer. I can also consult via Ye Olde Phone if you don’t want to wrestle with your computer or downloading applications . I will be contacting all my patients who have appointments already booked in to advise. You will be sent your own individual appointment link via e-mail, that you simply click on to take you to your appointment (it will prompt you to download the application if you don’t already have it). At this stage I will still be in the clinic conducting my online appointments, so I can still dispense my individualised herbal scripts and supplements for quick collection from the front of the clinic . Thanks to all my patients for your continued support during these uncertain times . I’m a one-woman business and solo parent, so I appreciate each and every one of you, and look forward to continuing to provide you with ongoing health support, as we all try and navigate the interesting times ahead . 19.01.2022 Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone! After the year that was 2020, it’s lovely to be on holidays, and able to spend some downtime with my beautiful daughter before she starts high school next year ! Thanks to all my wonderful patients for supporting my business through the upheaval of 2020, and for such a hugely busy December . It was so busy that I didn’t even make it online to announce to you all that face-to-face appointments had resumed, with online appoi...ntments continuing to be an option for those that prefer it . I’m taking an extended break this year (yay for me !) and I won't be returning to work on Wednesday, 20th January. For those who are looking to book in to see me next year, at this stage, my first week back is already fully booked : my first available appointments are from Wednesday, 27th January 2021 (currently) . To book an appointment, check my full consultation fees, or read a bit about what I do, you can do all of this 24/7 via my online calendar using this link (without having to book an appointment): https://naturallybalancedhealthcare.as.me/ If you need to reschedule an existing appointment that you already have booked with me during January 2021 you can do this online anytime by finding your appointment confirmation e-mail, scrolling down, and then clicking on the "Change/Cancel Appointment" button. Please do this as soon as you know you can’t attend at your original time, especially in my first week back, to give someone else the chance of booking in a coveted first week back appointment slot . If you are an existing patient that is after a repeat script, I am unable to dispense from the clinic whilst I am on holidays. If I set up a script with you via Vital.ly for prepackaged supplements during lockdown, please use this service to order repeats (if they’ve been authorised) whilst I am on holidays. I cannot set up new scripts whilst I’m on leave, as I am offline. Repeats of individually compounded liquid herbal scripts won’t be available until I get back from leave. I’ll be back online from the afternoon of Monday, 18th January 2021 making a start on answering my messages and emails I received whilst on holidays. I hope you and your friends, families and/or significant others have a wonderful festive season, whatever you choose to celebrate (or not) at this time of year. Take care everyone, thanks for all your support through 2020, and I’ll see you all refreshed in 2021 .

19.01.2022 Had a lovely relaxed dinner at Bam Bam Italian with my littlest sweetheart ! The food was delicious, but I ate waaaaayyyy too much gelato ! Such a lovely way to almost end the week (I'm in clinic all day tomorrow) . What have you been up to this evening?

13.01.2022 I’m delighted to officially welcome a new practitioner to my little team at Naturally Balanced Healthcare ! Charlotte Ingram is a fantastic Naturopath and Remedial Massage Therapist and has been a valued colleague of mine for well over 5 years, so it’s great having her on board, and just across the hall from me! Charlotte’s special interests are paediatrics, pregnancy and post-natal care (she’s also an ABA breastfeeding counsellor). Charlotte is very knowledgeable and it’s ...wonderful having the opportunity to work alongside a practitioner that is as passionate about her work and her continuing education as I am. We spend a lot of time nerding-out together at conferences, and we’re also studying alongside each other doing our post-grad degree in evidence-based complementary medicine . Charlotte also gives amazing pregnancy massages, and is so incredibly skilled at holding space for tired and stressed out Mums who are looking for some much-needed time out. I was completely blissed out after my massage with Charlotte last week, so I can thoroughly recommend her excellent massage skills . Charlotte is working Friday afternoon and all day Saturday every week and you can book with her directly online using this link: http://charlotteingram.simplybook.me

13.01.2022 To my lovely patients/clients, well, if you’re like me and in live in the Melbourne metropolitan area, here we are in Stage 4 restrictions! Who would have ever imagined it would come to this? I hope you are all remembering to breathe, and that you and your families are coping okay. I’ve included a photo, so you can see me in my latest mask fashion - thank goodness we have access to such lovely handmade face masks to brighten things up a bit! I thought I’d check in to update ...you on the latest restriction developments in regard to how I’m able to practice. I’m still fully available to support you via online TeleHealth appointments, just like I have been for the last few months. However, I’m currently seeking urgent clarification about whether I’m still allowed to dispense my individually compounded herbal scripts for contactless pickups from the front of my clinic a couple of times a week (I can still post scripts to my distance clients). Unfortunately, the lists are unclear and don’t specifically mention Naturopaths, Herbalists and/or Nutritionists. For any prepackaged supplements, I can always set up an online script for you to have them delivered to your door, but my beloved compounded herbal formulas are a different matter! I’m hoping that I won’t have to move my large herbal dispensary home with me to continue dispensing, but interesting times call for interesting measures! I’ll keep you updated, but I will be at the clinic on Wednesday this week madly dispensing, so if you need to pick anything up, please contact me ASAP to organise, as if I have to shut my physical clinic for the next 6 weeks, midnight on Wednesday is when it comes in. Please take good care of yourselves and here’s to making it through the next six weeks in the best way we can, even if that means several pyjama days in a row .

12.01.2022 This photo of me perfectly sums up how I’m feeling right now ! And I’m sure all of Metro Melbourne agrees! I’ve definitely shed a few tears this afternoon because it’s been such a long and tough road, but we have finally made it my wonderful, fellow Melburnians ! I’m so excited to announce that I will be able to resume dispensing my beautiful, individually compounded herbal scripts for contactless collection from out the front of my clinic from Wednesday this week !! ...I’m very much looking forward to getting my garage and dining room table back after I move my very large, but beloved, herbal dispensary back to my rooms in Belgrave Heights . Face-to-face consultations will also be resuming soon (with masks and physical distancing), once I get the official go ahead from my professional association . I know there have been a few people waiting on this because they’re not a TeleHealth fan, so your wait is almost over ! However, that’s not likely to be on offer until next week (at the earliest), so I have the chance to move everything back to the clinic, and set up the COVID-safe workplace plan. So all appointments will remain online this week as I ease back into fully reopening the clinic. And for my patients who are preferring the ease of TeleHealth, do not fear, as that’s here to stay! I have always offered it as an option anyway given I have to consult this way with my distance and interstate patients, and it’s a great option too if you’re local but feeling a little under the weather. I will also be moving all my Thursday evening appointments to TeleHealth permanently because this means that I won’t have to organise care for my daughter every Thursday evening, which works better for my little family of two. I’ll provide more updates as they become available, but until then I’m letting out a huge sigh of relief and shouting Hip-Hip-Hooray!!!!!

10.01.2022 IMMUNE SUPPORT Hi everyone, just quickly checking in again. This is my desk at the moment, as I’m mixing up multiple herbal scripts for my patients who’ve had their online appointments. I know I’ve not replied to some messages today, but I will get back to everyone as soon as I can . The quickest way to get my undivided and focussed attention in regard to my multiple enquiries for dispensing for immune support is to book in to see me online (or on the phone) using the lin...k to my 15-minute Acute Consultation ($50): ACUTE Phone/Online Consultation - 15 minutes (AUSTRALIAN PATIENTS ONLY) https://naturallybalancedhealthcare.as.me/immunesupport Due to TGA dispensing laws for compounded medicines (like my individual herbal scripts), I’m unable to dispense liquid herbs without some form of consultation (unless it’s a repeat script for something I’ve consulted with you about within the last 3 months). I’m very happy to help and support you, and I know it’s a difficult and anxious time for all (for me too!), but I still have to adhere to some of the dispensing rules to protect my practise and my beautiful herbal dispensary . Thanks for your understanding everyone and please take care of yourselves .

10.01.2022 Hi everybody ! Well, as my fellow Melbournians will know metropolitan Melbourne (Victoria, Australia) is back in isolation again as of midnight tonight for another six weeks . I was originally going to post this photo of my daughter and me to explain my complete absence from social media for the past couple of months . My time had been thoroughly taken up with: Transitioning my practice to being fully online with my lovely and understanding new and existing patients ; ... Homeschooling my daughter (aka barnacle or my constant companion), which took up more time than I imagined ; Completing my papers for my post grad degree, as Uni just kept on going (and going, and going, and going) despite being in lockdown ! But here we are again, back in lockdown, and I’m preparing for home-schooling again for at least half the school term so it looks like my daughter and I will remain being joined at the hip for the next little while ! I realise that I have been super quiet social media-wise, but I am still here to support you and fully open for business . The only difference for my local patients (my distance clients are already used to this) is that your appointments are via TeleHealth, rather than at the clinic I’m still at the clinic dispensing my beautiful herbal prescriptions and nutritional supplements for contactless pickup from the front of the clinic twice a week (and posting herbal scripts to my distance patients). Of course, my aim is to return to face-to-face appointments, as soon as the risk level decreases enough for me to do so . I’ve also had quite a few new likers in the last couple of months, which I truly find quite surprising given how hopeless I’ve been with updating my socials , so welcome to all of you! I’ll be endeavouring to post more regularly, especially with more information in regard to my special interest areas in practice which include supporting: All types of gastrointestinal disorders/digestive problems, and gut microbiome imbalances (and all things related to microbiome issues); Hormonal imbalances and menstrual wellness; Mental health (anxiety, depression, PMS, PMDD, PND/A, long term stress); Chronic/complex illness (this includes autoimmune disorders). If there are any burning questions that you have that you’d like me to do a post on , please post it as a comment below, and I can add it to my list, or of there are lots of similar questions, I can even do a FB-Live. Thanks to everyone that has been able to continue to support my one-woman business during this difficult and uncertain time for us all, I appreciate each and every one of you . Until I see you again, take care .

09.01.2022 I’ve had a wonderful afternoon mixing up individual herbal prescriptions for my lovely patients . I’ve mixed up patient-specific blends to support the hormonal fluctuations of peri-menopause, the healthy modulation of the gut microbiome, the reduction of anxiety and improvement of sleep and to help one of my patients recover from a chesty cold. My huge herbal dispensary of almost 130 herbs gives me so many choices and really is one of the joys of my job! Liquid herbs are brilliant for individualised patient specific prescribing, even if not everyone appreciates the taste .

09.01.2022 When you mix up so many repeat herbal scripts for pick-ups in one afternoon that you start writing the names of herbs on the bag instead of your patient’s name . Not long until holidays now !

07.01.2022 I’ve been MIA from social media for the last six weeks ago because life became too busy. I’d so much going on with end of semester Uni submissions for my post grad, my work in clinic, solo parenting, family commitments and other dramas in my personal life along the way, that I ended up finding myself facing complete exhaustion. I’m posting this to let you know that even Naturopaths, with all their training and experience in healthcare, can drop the ball sometimes and need to ...retreat for their own health and wellbeing. I’ve been in deep retreat in Bali for the last week to switch off from the world, do some soul searching and replenish my nervous system. To do this fully, I had to leave my beloved daughter in the care of beautiful family and friends, which as any parent would know, is very difficult to do! But l needed time out from parenting as well: being a solo parent is busy and challenging, even when you love your child/ren with all your heart. As difficult as it is for me to post my beyond-exhausted before shot at the airport (vulnerability anyone?), I’ve posted the before and after shots, so you can see what truly giving yourself permission to take proper time out can do for restoring your spirit and reassure you that you are worthy of doing the same. I’m so thankful for the time I had at beautiful Swasti in Ubud, Bali, and I’m fully rested and revitalised for my return to clinic this Wednesday, 26th June. I will be replying to all messages I received whilst I was away from Tuesday. Bright blessings to you all.

07.01.2022 Having dinner before my evening appointments begin. Not the prettiest photo, but it’s very yummy indeed : a mixed green and reds salad, carrot and chickpea dip, with gluten free felafels will fill me up nicely, as well as feeding my gut microbes as well (which is what I spend most of my time in clinic thinking about) ! I’ve not posted for a bit, as I needed to have a break from social media posting - I was feeling pretty tired and I needed turn my focus inward to me and ...my wonderful daughter (who’s also been a bit out of sorts). So between me discovering that I’m actually anaemic (thought I should get my own iron stores checked given I talk to women every week about the importance of iron, and getting their iron stores checked if they’re tired ) and beginning the journey of investigating the underlying causes of my daughter’s fatigue and sleeplessness, life has been pretty full (and let’s not forget adding my postgraduate studies into the mix)! And it’s important to note that even Naturopaths can drop the ball healthwise sometimes . BUT, I’m planning on resuming social media posts on a bit more of a regular basis now that I have an iron infusion booked on for next week ! I’m sure I’ll be feeling like a new woman in a week or so! I hope all is well in your busy worlds !

06.01.2022 Other than my clinical work, if there was one other thing that I could almost be as equally as passionate about, it would be continuing education, as it helps me build on my existing knowledge and be an even better practitioner for my all my wonderful patients . So I was very excited to receive my official electronic documents for my Graduate Certificate in Evidence-Based Complementary Medicine from UTAS today in my inbox today (my fancy certificate is on its way ...via registered post)! Hooray ! It’s been hard work , but my research skills have improved by a factor of 100 I’d say , as has my ability to research drug-herb and drug-nutrient interactions for all my patients that see me who are also taking prescribed pharmaceutical medications . And it’s definitely nice to receive an acknowledgement of all your hard work during a worldwide pandemic! I’m using this as inspiration to finish and submit my current papers that are due for my post-grad degree! I’ve got two assessments due in the next 7 days (wish me luck! )! If you’re wondering why I’ve been slack with posting to Facebook this is one of the reasons why ! Once I’ve finished this semester, I’ll have one year left of my full post-grad degree to go before I’ll take a well deserved break from formal study for a couple of years (maybe) . Hope all my fellow Melbournians are navigating through Stage 4 restrictions okay . Honestly, I’d be delighted to even go back to Stage 3 at this point (who knew I’d ever be thinking that?)! I’m still consulting online via Zoom, so please don’t hesitate to book in to see me if you required any support !

06.01.2022 Hi everyone, I’m back online today and making my way through/replying to my list of text messages, emails and phone calls that I received whilst I was away . There’s quite a few to get through, so if you’ve not heard back from me yet, I’ll be replying to more messages after my morning clinic appointments tomorrow. In the meantime, have a look at this lovely snippet that I recorded whilst I was away in Bali at a water temple. It’s very beautiful .

05.01.2022 Hi Everyone! Lots of questions have started to come through from my patients regarding immune support, given that concern in regard to COVID-19 is now on the increase. I’m checking in to say that there is much that can be done to in regard to supporting general immune function including using good hygiene practices (like washing your hands with soap and water), nutrition and herbal medicine, so please book in to see me if you feel like you need some guidance, as I’m unable ...to prescribe specific nutrients and/or herb blends via text message or e-mail . I am still conducting in-clinic appointments at this stage, but don’t forget that I also offer online appointments via video link, for those that would prefer to stay home. Online appointments are something I do regularly for my interstate patients, and there’s nothing stopping my local patients using this service as well. My online appointments are conducted via Zoom which is very user friendly. Whilst there is no TGA approved intervention specifically for COVID-19 (and it is important for me to specifically point this out), complementary medicine has a lot to offer in regard to supporting general health, immune function and wellbeing . I’ll be posting information over the next week or so in regards to specific nutrients that can be used to support the immune system in addition to some foods that can also be helpful . In the meantime, try to keep your stress levels down and look out for each other, and don’t hesitate to book in to see me if you’d like some extra support .

05.01.2022 M E D I T A T I O N One of my goals this year was to return to meditation and/or do mindfulness exercises on a more regular basis, as part of my own mental health care plan . Of course, as we all can do, I put it off with a zillion excuses as to why I couldn’t possibly mediate on a particular day, and it almost got to the end of January and I still hadn’t done one single session! Cue my lovey old friend anxiety choosing to rear her little head las...t week (rather intensely ) to give me the firm push, and perhaps some additional mad flag waving , that I needed to make a start. As I was feeling quite overwhelmed, guess how long my first exercise was ? Drum roll please ............ One single minute! And after a couple of days of giving myself permission to take that single minute to quieten my mind, I thought that’s not enough, and did a longer 5- minute exercise ! From that single minute I’ve gone to doing between 15-30 minutes a day for her last 5-days and my nervous system is already feeling better for it! Ms Anxiety is still buzzing a little, but the intensity has gone down noticeably and I’m far less overwhelmed . So, for all my patients and friends that think they have no time to meditate or practice mindfulness, I’m going to link you to the wonderful program just-a-minute, that you can find within the amazingly fantastic FREE app, Insight Timer : https://insig.ht/saYKhqU9H3. It has loads of one minute exercises that even the most time poor of you can do, even when things are a little overwhelming . You can also quickly meditate at any time of the day if you find yourself in a situation where you need a quick reset. And, yes, I may have chosen an idyllic photo for this post, but in reality you can meditate anywhere you feel comfortable, even if you have to ignore the mess on your couch for a few minutes in order to do so ! So go and meditate dear patients and readers ! My patients can expect that I will definitely be telling them all about the wonders of Insight Timer the next time I see them in clinic !

05.01.2022 Some of my beautiful plant friends that freshen up my clinic space . My devil’s ivy gets longer by the day: I may start have to start to trail it over the window! The second two photos are my new plant babies that I’ve just put in my second practitioner room. I love having indoor plants in workspaces: they brighten the room and help to freshen the air . Do you have any favourite indoor plant friends?

03.01.2022 This is my last week before I’m on holidays until Thursday, 16th January . So if you need to organise to pick-up supplies, or book a last minute appointment to see me before Christmas, now is the time to do it. I’ll be in Wednesday-Saturday this week, and I’m sure my front counter will be looking like this for most of the week . If you need to book a consultation either contact me directly or book via my online calendar: https://naturallybalancedhealthcare.as.me/

01.01.2022 Hi everyone, another quick update! Things are changing daily, but at this stage it looks like I’ll be able to go to the clinic to dispense and then post liquid herbal scripts to my patients because I’m local and live within the 5km of my clinic (I’ve always loved my tiny commute ) and I’m also a sole trader (so I’ll be the only one in the clinic). Whether I’ll be able to offer contactless pickups to my super-within 5km-locals is yet to be clarified. So, if you really need an...ything, most especially a repeat of your liquid herbal script, I urge you to contact me via email tonight or email/phone/text tomorrow morning to organise! I’ll be at the clinic from lunchtime through to 6:30pm dispensing for pickups (the new business restrictions are in place after 11:59pm Wednesday). Online consultations will be running as normal of course. Take care everyone . See more
