22.01.2022 The power of being asked to share your voice...

19.01.2022 See you tonight! Our last Yoga Ground kirtan of the year. Kirtan = calming, heart warming, centering. Perfect pre-Xmas self care. ... And this month we’re gratefully receiving food donations for a West Auckland family (solo mum with 4 boys and a little girl). Feel free to bring basic, non perishable, mainstream kai such as short grain white rice, pasta, cooking oil, tinned goodies, peanut butter and other non-sugary spreads etc. Or you’re welcome to make a cash donation and we’ll put it towards a Pack n Save voucher. The collection box will be at Yoga Ground from 8th 22nd Dec. Thanks for helping make one family's Christmas that much more special :) And see you for sacred songs this eve!

15.01.2022 Thanks for sharing your voices on Saturday... loved the dancing too! See you at our next monthly Kirtan, Sept 15th In many shamanic societies, if you came to a medicine person complaining of being disheartened, dispirited, or depressed, they would ask one of four questions: "When did you stop dancing? When did you stop singing? When did you stop being enchanted by stories? When did you stop being comforted by the sweet territory of silence? Gabrielle Roth

14.01.2022 Meet Michelle, a fine player of all things percussion. This woman will shake a shaker, cajole a cajon and move you to the very depths of your soul (with her 432 hertz white healing drum)... all before you can say Om Shakti Om! See you Sat 15th Sept for kirtan:... https://www.facebook.com/events/300988343815535/ See more

14.01.2022 Looks like we'll have rain on the roof tonight. Perfect for a scrummy eve of Yoga Ground kirtan! Pick up a bolster and a warm blanket as you walk through the door, gather 'round with like minded souls. Soulful singing awaits!

13.01.2022 Happy Diwali! = the Hindu celebration of lights. Today is a fantastic time to honour all the ways that light shines in your life. Literally (candles, sunshine, glistening on the ocean) as well as symbolically (e.g. ways that knowledge and insight have helped move you beyond ignorance). Diwali is a time for celebrating life's vitality, with fireworks, puja (prayers), gifts, feast and sweets... and shopping! So it was only appropriate that I returned home from Auckland's recen...t 2018 Diwali festival with 3 new pairs of tights: red, orange and yellow. Gotta love India's way with colour. So, happy Diwali. Notice the light in your life today, all around you. You are blessed beyond measure, soften into it, let it wash over you, soak it up!

10.01.2022 A blissful evening of sacred sound and heartfelt community coming right up... Sat 9th March!

10.01.2022 It's such a natural thing to gather together and sing. I bet our ancestors sung around the bonfire most nights! Here's a pic of our last kirtan of 2018 at Yoga Ground. Lots of bliss-memories made at this studio over the last year. ... Feeling grateful for Auckland's kirtan community, and the opportunities to sing with such a wonderful range of groups. Each group has their own devotional flavour... Kawai Purapura Kirtan, Art of Living, Amma Group, and Meditation NZ to name a few (see Auckland Kirtan for more details on each group's regular events). Kiri Schumacher Kirtan is taking a break in Jan, see you back at Yoga Ground Feb 16th. Happy summering!

09.01.2022 Buster leading us through Loka Samasta at Yoga Ground Lokah samastah sukhino bhavantu - may all beings be happy and free!

06.01.2022 This month’s kirtan falls during Navaratri = The Nine Nights. Each year this is a particularly powerful time for focusing on your inner world, as it evokes the power of Shakti or the female force. Navaratri honours the 3 Hindu goddesses Durga, Kakshmi and Sarasvati, who assist with purification, spiritual wealth and wisdom. ... It's an auspicious for time releasing, and also receiving the nourishment that comes from meditation and intuitive insights. Let's make the most of this wave of Shakti power! See you Sat.

02.01.2022 Shambo Shankara at Yoga Ground Thanks Billy for leading, exquisite! Om Namah Shivaya Shivaya Namaha Shivaya Namah Om ... Shambo Shankara Namah Shivaya Giri-ja Shankara Namah Shivaya Hari Om Namah Shivaya Om Namah Shivaya Krishna Das sings a variation of this kirtan too. Here's his translation of the Sanskrit: I bow to the Soul of all. I bow to my Self. I don’t know who I am, so I bow to you, Shiva, my own true Self. I bow to my teachers who loved me with Love. Who took care of me when I couldn’t take care of myself. I owe everything to them. How can I repay them? They have everything in the world. Only my love is mine to give, but in giving I find that it is their love flowing through me back to the worldI have nothing. I have everything. I want nothing. Only let it flow to you, my love sing!

01.01.2022 We’re blessed to have Prayag Mahant joining us for kirtan this Sat at Yoga Ground. I met him at few years ago through the weekly Art of Living kirtan. And we’ve shared so many kirtan moments since. Summer singing, winter singing, festival signing, quiet singing, raucous singing. We once had noise control knock on the door of the house keep that kirtan down!.... You’re in for a treat. See you Sat. For Spring singing :) Event details: https://www.facebook.com/events/297487560840842/ (That's Prayag's wife Promila in the photo, in case you're wondering).
