23.01.2022 A little love note Its been a huge week for everyone. I dont need to say more than that. --... My heart and thoughts go out to so many people To the four couples I am still marrying this weekend but their plans have considerably changed and they have had anything but a stress-free lead-up to their wedding day. To all the couples over the next few months who have had to reschedule their wedding and the emotional and financial pressures they have experienced. To the couples who are still going ahead with their wedding over the next few months but had to significantly alter travel arrangements, guest lists and plans so that the show can still go on. However, with the uncertainty what the next few weeks and months will bring To the couples who are getting married later in 2020, hoping and praying that their plans are safe. To my fellow vendors, many of them my dear friends, who are experiencing both financial and emotional hardships whilst also trying to provide the best support to their own clients. -- On a personal level, I am working with my individual clients to figure out what is the best outcome for their situation. They have my full support with whatever they decide. I know there are so many more businesses and people doing it much tougher than myself or my clients so perspective is essential in these situations. But regardless of perspective, please give yourself permission to grieve. Because thats what we are all doing. Grief is a feeling experienced with any kind of loss the loss of dreams for couples and expectations for vendors. We will all be OK. New dreams will be made and realised, and new expectations will be met, but we are still allowed to grieve over the old ones. I dont know exactly what I am trying to say here but I think thats OK. Hopefully the sentiment is there. Simply, I am thinking of everyone. I have had a lot of people checking in on me to make sure I am doing OK including my own couples who understand that I do this full-time and it must be a concerning time for me too. So, for that I am incredibly grateful. I am here for my couples, I am here for my fellow colleagues and here for my friends. We will get through this together. We have to. Love Kirk xx

23.01.2022 Today is #RUOKDay. It is such a significant day in so many ways and this year in particular, it is even more so. It has been an incredibly challenging few months for many. Today is the day to take action if you havent already. Reach out if you need help or more importantly, reach out to someone you who think may need help. A phone call, a message even a pasta bake left on someones doorstep... it really could make the world of difference. In my role, I see the deepest pain and heartache losing a loved one to suicide. Lets all work together for suicide prevention. Get behind and support R U OK Day.

19.01.2022 Introducing Kirk. What is Kirk.? Well me, obviously. But what is Kirk. the brand?... Kirk. represents 12 years of wedding industry experience. Kirk. represents more than 800 weddings and 200 funerals. Kirk. embodies professionalism, confidence and strength while capturing a sense of fun, frivolity and laughter. Kirk. is honest, transparent and sincere. Kirk. prides itself on delivering the highest level of customer service to both its clients and colleagues. -- I started working as a celebrant at the age of 22, absolutely clueless as to where this path would take me. Years on, I am torn between the feeling that Ive grown and evolved in so many ways but in one sense, Im exactly as I was when I started out. Right from the beginning my mission was simple: to deliver amazing customer service and provide the basic principles of efficiency, organisation, kindness and sincerity. When I moved back to my hometown of Perth in 2015, I knew no one in the Perth wedding industry and likewise, no one knew me. So I set myself a goal to change that. Five years on, I feel so privileged to be firmly established in the Perth wedding industry. I want to acknowledge that I wouldnt be here without the support, comradery and kindness of Perths wedding vendors, many of whom have become some of my closest friends. To these generous souls I am incredibly grateful. Kirk. is the first official logo Ive ever had (it was always one of the things on my to-do list). Its simplistic yet definitive and with the current situation we are faced with, I believe this is the best thing I can offer to my couples. I will dispel the nerves, confusion and stress that can come with planning a wedding ceremony and replace it with confidence, guidance, trust and reassurance. Thank you to all of the couples whove entrusted me with their wedding ceremony it is an absolute honour. I am so excited for what the next chapter of Kirk. is going to bring. There are some amazing developments in the pipeline, so watch this space. Logo design credit goes to Emily at Grey Rabbit Design whose skill and efficiency was top notch.

19.01.2022 A Cinderella Story A few weeks ago, on that wet Perth Saturday in March where majority of weddings resorted to Plan B, my bride Monica walked down the aisle on some decking after our ceremony had moved undercover. Something we didnt plan for was her shoe heel getting caught in the gap of the decking!... As soon as her shoe came off, I went to help but I suddenly stopped in my tracks... was this a Cinderella moment? But I wasnt her Prince! So I instructed her groom Matt that this was his job! Certainly a priceless moment! I did tell Monica to make sure that she left the wedding before midnight just in case!! 17.01.2022 Wedding Folks Event Wednesday 11th March 2020, 7-10pm Lamonts Bishops House For the past few years I have put together an end of season event for us Wedding F...olks, to celebrate the end of another year of gorgeous weddings. But this year, its been hijacked by some of my favourite people & they have ever so generously put their time & effort into turning this into an event for me, with all proceeds going towards helping with my medical costs & loss of income during this completely unexpected journey. This year all are welcome, not just industry folks, and its a little fancier than the norm, at one of Perths best venues, Lamont's Bishops House Id love to tell you more, but to be honest, they are keeping it all a secret from me! All I know is that it will be a great night, everyone is welcome & as its 3 days before my operation, so Ill be there (sober this year!) & cant wait to see you all there! The very biggest thank you to the driving forces behind this Wallflower Studio, Nestle & Porter, Ridhwaan Moolla & DUO events Creative Studio, as well as all of the amazing suppliers who are sponsoring. 11.01.2022 Why I will keep posting. I wanted to take a moment to explain why I will keep posting photos of weddings on social media despite the fact that we are experiencing such an unsettling time and many couples have had to either considerably alter or reschedule their weddings. The last thing I want you to think is that Im being insensitive. So heres why... Firstly, I want to celebrate all the wonderful weddings I have recently been a part of. Obviously, its not their fault that ...this has happened and I dont want to take away from showcasing their beautiful weddings and the wonderful vendors I worked with. Secondly, for all those couples who have had to reschedule their big day, I hope that I can continue to inspire you that your wedding is, without a doubt, worth the wait. Your wedding dreams are not over, theyve just changed. I also hope that I can provide a little break or distraction from the inundated COVID-19 posts that we are all seeing. They are important, yes but also overwhelming. And lastly, because I personally need to. I need to keep working. This situation may have taken part of our work away but we need to stay healthy and active during this time. All small businesses do. Work on your social media, marketing, processes - whatever! Lets put this time to good use and continue to celebrate all that we have achieved and all that is yet to come. This snap was one of my first weddings of 2020 with the gorgeous Demi & Michael where I worked alongside some of my favourite vendors including one of the groomsmen, my good mate, DJ champ Kaviar Djs Perth. 11.01.2022 Ceremony Feels 2020 - Not another expo!" Sometimes couples are hesitant about attending wedding event/expos/open days because they are worried it will be overwhelming, impersonal or a just 'please sign here on the dotted line' transaction. In fact, that is exactly what couples have said in the past. Trust us though, there will be ABSOLUTELY none of that. Don't get us wrong, we aren't expo/open day haters at all - we LOVE the events that the fabulous WA wedding industry pu...t out and you'll frequently see us at many of them all across Perth... but Ceremony Feels isn't one of these events. It ain't no expo. We (and all our amazing vendors) are not here to sell you anything... no hard sell conversations and we promise you that not once on the night will someone ask "so have you chosen a date?" We aren't fussed if you have or haven't. We aren't fussed if you haven't chosen a venue .... heck, we aren't gonna get on your case if you haven't chosen a single thing at all for your moment. What we are fussed about is WANTING to give you the very BEST unbiased wedding ceremony education, info and inspo. We want you to understand the behind-the-scenes to a ceremony, how all the vendor legends all come together to make 30 minutes of your day, some of the best damn 30 minutes of your life! And ultimately, we want you to walk away at the end of the night knowing all your options so you feel empowered and you can say ... HECK YEH, My ceremony is going to ROOOOCCCKK. Vendors will be sharing tips and tricks, and will be available for Q & A throughout the whole night. It'll be fun (if we do say so ourselves)... and when there are bubbles, pizza, popsicles and fairy floss available - how can that not be the case?! Don't miss out on Ceremony Feels 2020 - get your registration sorted. 10.01.2022 Thank you! A few weeks ago, I was very fortunate enough to receive the Brides Choice Award for Male Marriage Celebrant in Perth. I wanted to take an opportunity to sincerely thank all the couples who took the time and effort to vote for me it’s so greatly appreciated.... The most important part of my business is delivering the highest level of customer service to my couples and I hope that this award is a small testament to that. I share this with all my couples who so kindly invite me to be a part of their wedding. Much and thanks, Kirk Brides Choice Awards

09.01.2022 Yesterday I got to share in a very special and intimate ceremony for two gorgeous ladies. 08.01.2022 Last year I had the HUGE honour in MCing @thecelebrantsociety conference in Sydney. This year myself and over 200 celebrants were meant to be learning and living it up on the Gold Coast. Sadly, this was not to be. BUT the conference is still going ahead online starting this Monday!! And Im back to MC! Heres a little sneak peak...

07.01.2022 Wow. Its March already. How did that happen? Im finally taking a moment to stop and reflect on the year so far I have experienced some incredible highs so many fabulous weddings including marrying two of my closest friends in Melbourne and a number of beautiful same-sex weddings down south in our stunning Margaret River region.... I have witnessed some heart-breaking lows. A number of funerals including a two-year-old boy who tragically lost his life and also some young adults who have died either through suicide or unthinkable accidents. As a father myself, seeing the grief that these parents are experiencing is frankly unimaginable. I guess the only blessing is the fact that because I am moving (at times running) from funerals to weddings to school pick-up; I dont get much time to fixate on this grief. But I am trying my hardest to learn from these events: take more time out for my family, make the most of each and every day, and live life to the fullest. I have also been saddened by some recent challenging news about one of my amazing fellow Perth wedding colleagues more on that in the next few days. From a personal perspective, I have helped my son adjust to both the excitement and challenges of full-time pre-primary. Its certainly not an easy transition for them. I am so far behind with posting wedding photos on my social media that I have a very long list so please be prepared for some serious wedding spam over the next few weeks. Throw into the mix a number of expos so far this year which is a fantastic opportunity for me to meet new couples and catch-up with my fellow wedding mates. I chose the photo above because this is me in a nutshell. Youll always find me loving life, embracing the moment, trying my hardest to team with the theme and with a big smile on my face. Over the last few weeks I have been incredibly lucky to receive so many heart-warming reviews on my Facebook page. This solidifies for me the fact that I am doing exactly what I should be doing and, more importantly, surrounded by the right people. Isnt life a gift? I hope you are making the most of yours. 06.01.2022 The AMAZING work of The Auburn Hour Film Co. again!!!!

06.01.2022 My besties! It goes without saying that every ceremony I do is very special to me but when I get the opportunity to marry two of my closest friends, well lets just say, I was over the moon! I was there right from the start when this little office romance blossomed back in Melbourne in 2012. I was one of the ones in the know whilst they kept it discreet at first.... After years of being a bridesmaid (like I am talking, Katherine Heigl - 27 Dresses style), it was finally Cristinas turn to have her big day. The design, style and execution was absolutely epic! Just wait till you see the arbour! Sooooo many gorgeous photos to share by the amazing Kylee Yee, Photographer. But seriously Cristina Laria and Djovan Caro I love you both to bits and I will never take for granted the very special opportunity and honour it was to be your guest, celebrant and MC. May your marriage be filled with countless Kylie songs, Lego, Seinfeld reruns, Sound of Music singalongs, more dinosaur heads, John Mayer, GF pasta, IKEA meatballs and hours spent on the toilet watching YouTube. As Kylie said... Here we are and we're paper dolls And we're side by side Here we are on the magic ride Just for you and I. Florals North St Botanical Venue The Park

03.01.2022 Colleagues of mine in the funeral industry will appreciate that at times it is a challenging one to work in. There is the short time frame to prepare a funeral service, working under emotional circumstances and the pressure of trying to give a family a personalised, special and memorable send-off for their loved one. But truth to be told, it’s the most gratifying experience. It is so rewarding. I love the challenge; I love the life stories I hear and helping families during ...such a difficult time. Receiving feedback such as this, makes me cherish this role even more so. -- Thank you so, so much for everything you did for my dad's funeral on Saturday. For a sad and difficult day, it went as perfectly as I could've hoped for and I'm very grateful for the beautiful service you organised. It was calming and had happy moments of reminiscence while being respectful to Dad and to the sad part of the occasion. For me personally, it was a very helpful step in the grieving process. Many of the guests said it was the nicest funeral service they'd been to. One even asked if you'd known him personally, because you did such a great job of speaking 'to' him and of him. This is exactly what I wanted for my dad - a service that wasn't too miserable or stuffy, and honoured who he was. Sincere thanks for making a really awful time easier and bearable. We will definitely recommend you if anyone needs a celebrant for an event, happy or sad, and I will be thanking Bowra & O'Dea for recommending you to us. Ellie

03.01.2022 Big congrats to Kaviar Djs Perth for their 10 year milestone!

03.01.2022 A bit of ! "On November 15th Kirk married us and we couldnt have asked for a better ceremony. Kirks energy, professionalism, and organisation was amazing. He always answered my questions, even if at 10pm at night. Our ceremony was short and sweet (just as we wanted), personalised from our story to our vows, it was funny, and it was highly engaging for our guests; even though it was a sweltering 39c day in the sun! Kirk made the whole ceremony very clear even the nitt...y gritty like when to pass the bouquet to my bridesmaids, and walking through the ceremony location before the day to figure out the best route to take through the gardens. Thank you so much for being a part of our day you are just top notch and we are so happy we chose you!" Emma & Jake Photo | Chantelle Stapleton

01.01.2022 What a wedding!! Amazing The Auburn Hour Film Co.

01.01.2022 12 YEARS IN THE BIZ! Today, back in 2008, I received a letter with my authorisation as a Commonwealth Marriage Celebrant! Sooooo many wonderful weddings, amazing couples, beautiful bouquets (like the one above )... it has been a BLAST!... Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine this would become my full-time gig which it has since 2015. Whilst Covid has had heart-breaking impacts for everyone, the pause on the wedding industry has allowed me to focus further on my role as a funeral celebrant and branch into becoming a Celebrant Trainer, something Ive wanted to do for quite some time. As always from the bottom of my heart , I thank my couples, my fellow wedding folk (you know who you are) and all those who have supported me along the way. But in particular to those who never get thanked enough , my future hubby, my parents and my two sisters. I certainly wouldnt be where I am today without them. And thanks to one of my fellow lovely wedding folk and dear friend Sandie Bertrand Photography for the snap! And Little Blossom Co. for the beautiful florals!

01.01.2022 LOVE LETTER! Thank you so much Courtney & Anthony! "PHENOMENAL is the word best used to describe Kirk! My husband and I could not have hoped for a better celebrant to marry us. Kirk was a delight to deal with and stepped us through the process so we knew what to expect and made it all so seamless on the day. The detailed questionnaire and toolkit he provides enables him to put together a very personalised and thoughtful ceremony. Kirk understands how hectic the lead up to ...and the morning of the big day can be. He really put me at ease when he greeted me with air kisses (any girl would appreciate this once having their makeup done!) once I arrived at the venue and explained exactly what to do. With experience up his sleeve Kirk leaves no stone unturned as it was a windy day, he whispered to me a little tip to prevent my veil from blowing and becoming twisted throughout the ceremony AND when my husband surprised me with our 2 dogs walking down the aisle as ring bearers Kirk ensured that they were kept at a short distance from me so they didnt step on my dress! With his professional manner, infectious smile and stylish attire (suit always on point!) Kirk is the perfect wedding celebrant. Were actually a little sad that our dealings with you have now come to an end but we do hope to cross paths in the future youre a gorgeous person, thank you for making our day as amazing as it was!" 01.01.2022 In the nick of time! On Friday the 20th of March 2020, (the International Day of Happiness in fact) just days before Australia went into lock-down, I had the honour in marrying these two lovers!
