23.01.2022 What a great clinic at Biloela! Thank you to all my students for giving me the opportunity to teach you over the weekend. Knowledge is power and knowledge is confidence! There were big improvements in all of you and in your horses. You should all be proud of yourselves; I know I am proud of you. A big thank you to Karen Labuschewski for being a wonderful host and thank you Jema Slotosch and Tanya Major for all your work behind the scenes. I tell my kids (and my students too) that feelings and emotions of things like anger and hurt and jealousy are normal and they are okay, but it’s okay to let those emotions control you, consume you, bring out the ugly in you and steal your joy. the reading below states, ' . ." ... , 2020 has brought out a bit of emotions in me. From not being able to see my family in America (thanks Covid!), to a broke knee cap (I am not a very good patient), to our best High Brow Cat broodmare getting sick and unable to rebreed this year, to having to euthanize her foal, to my gelding being out, to our colt trying to cut his hoof off and now he’s laid off again, to the election (ha, I’ll just stop there )....... I’ll admit, some of these things have hit me in the guts a bit, but I refuse to let it keep me down and I loved this simple reading! When we read this the other night at dinner, my daughter said, Momma, that’s just like what you say and what you do. (I’m glad I’m her eyes I’m living it out, bc I, just like all, often fall short). Then she compared it to loosing her latest bottle calf and how she was sad, and let herself be sad until she got to school and then made a choice to pick herself up and not let it steal her joy! She said she was thankful that he died feeling loved. It made me smile because I know I am giving her tools for life so that she can face any giants in her life. We all face giants at some point and my hope is that you all can keep these same tools in your tool box. The tool of being able to accept your emotions, but not let them steal your joy. The tool of being able to change your perspective, be thankful, see the good and get out of any funk you may be in. I know I’d be lost without my life tools. I'm sure they all ...went home with alot on their mind, alot learnt ready to put into practice at their next barrel comp. Kit is amazing to listen to & learn from. 11.01.2022 American perspective and something to about - Add to this that I believe many issues start with their feet (too high on the inside or outside, too little heel, etc, etc, etc) and I’m thankful for my husband whom understands that not all horses feet are meant to look pretty and he will trim how Mother Nature made them. We’ve gotten a lot of hot deals that were simply feet issues. to your horses y’all and help them when and where you can! ~ ' ~ #OpinionsTakeEmOrLeaveEm

08.01.2022 When a horse is afraid of something, it is my job to teach them that it is okay and that not all fear equals danger. I don’t allow them to remain fearful and by the end of the ride, I am able to ride them by, around or through the very things they originally thought were dangerous and going to eat them. Through my guidence, the horse is able to distinguish fear and danger and realize that all those scary things they saw are not actually dangerous. Y’all.......That is what G...od wants for us in life and I want you to think about this....... Danger is real, but fear is often a liar. Fear is often the devil trying paralyze you and stop you from so many opportunities and sucesses. Fear often keeps you from chasing your dreams, from succeeding, from being happy, from getting out of that "funk" you have been in; the list goes on and on.... Don't get me wrong, fear is a normal emotion and it is okay to feel fearful, but it is not okay to let that fear control you. I was afraid to move here to Australia and leave everything I had ever known, but I only let myself be fearful for a little while; I didn't allow it to consume me and paralyze me as fear often can and will. I refused to let it control me and instead chose to embrace the path God was putting me on. I chose to have faith and I am very glad I did. Fear is often the enemy trying to silence your voice. Instead, silence fears' voice! I do this with and through God. So whenever fear paralyzes you, know that its not that you don't have power; it is that you often don't KNOW you have the power. As Phillipians 4:13 says, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" and you can too! George Addair said, Everything you've ever wanted is often on the other side of fear." 06.01.2022 Are you having fun? Do you enjoy running barrels? That is all that matters!... It doesn’t matter how much your horse has won. It doesn’t matter how much your horse cost. Riding a true 1D caliber horse and winning on a regular basis is a full time job. If you are fortunate enough to be winning on a truly phenomenal horse enjoy it while you can. It won’t last forever. Remember you are only as good as your last run before you make the mistake of judging one of your fellow barrel racers. Just because you win some, that does not signify that you are a bad ass. Realize that sometimes your judgement makes someone consider quitting. Think before you speak out loud. Try encouraging your fellow athletes instead. Make the world and our industry a better place. 02.01.2022 Watching my daughter playing horse tag with her friends last weekend made me realize that we haven't done that in a long time. We used to turn the music up in our arena, run around like crazy people and literally play tag on the horses. It was good for us and good for our horses. It helped both of my daughters' riding skills immensley but yet I wasn't coaching them - we were just having fun! This memory made me go through my phone to see if I could find any videos of us... playing tag. I found this one. It was a day that my girls wanted to play horse tag and I told them I would only play if they rode bareback. They then told me they would only ride bareback if I rode bridle-less -- and we had a deal! A fun, challenging deal! So here is the video -- I don’t remember who was videoing, but I am sure they reckoned that it was going to be worth videoing one way or the other; good or bad. Lol. .. So, we’ve got the music playing, as we often would, and I randomly got my husband to be a cow (that's funny in itself!), and we all just had fun! It made me realize that it has been ages since we have just rode for the fun of it. We are either mustering, or exercising the horses, or teaching the horses something work, work, work or goals, goals, goals ..... So, as I’ve said before, don’t forget to just have fun on your horses too! P.S. And....
