12.01.2022 The Kirkwood Family weren’t just known for Horses and Produce. George Kirkwood was born in 1907 at Largs. He went to School at Bolwarra and in his early teens he took up dirt track riding. In 1925 while riding in Maitland, George hit the fence, breaking his leg. The break was so bad that his leg had to be amputated. George married in 1929 to Edith Ling. George and Edith had a General Store in Weston from 1934 where they worked together for 38 years until George retired in 1972.

11.01.2022 With the current situation and uncharted waters we find ourselves in I thought this was worth sharing, especially for the young people who are leaving school and about to embark on their first steps towards becoming part of the work force. In my humble experience with young people and even some older adults they place far too much emphasis on what marks they achieved, the experience they have, but most of all do they have the required skills that will give them the confiden...ce to succeed when in fact all they need is the simple skill set that was instilled in all of us by whom I think have the most influence on all of our lives, whether we know it at the time or not but our parents. No job has to be tedious, nor should it be meaningless. Sweep the floor the best that you possibly can, maybe look for a better way to do it. Do every job as if it was for you, show initiative and offer input, always ask if there is anything you can do to help, and never forget the person you serve today could be the person interviewing you tomorrow for that dream job. Some of us will be happy to lead whilst others more comfortable to follow, it is here that you need to make sure you are following the person that will best lead you in the direction you need to go. To me there is no better reward than that which comes through hard work. Take care everyone, lets continue to map this uncharted world safely, and remain the lucky county. Craig.
