25.01.2022 I bid my first farewell to a student this week as he prepares to step forward into what life holds for him next. It’s always bittersweet...of course they need to move on but it’s hard to say goodbye to someone you’ve nurtured.

25.01.2022 Never before #melbournelockdown2020 has a North Face jacket meant so much. #danspresser #northface

25.01.2022 Can’t wait to read these stories of ordinary men doing extraordinary things in the service of others. Thankyou, @adamhollowayauthor and also a shout out to @brothersnbooks who promoted me to get this into my hands.

25.01.2022 6:30am and the cafes are setting up their tables for guests.

25.01.2022 Rather that providing moody tones, sometimes the rising sun renders everything crisp and clear.

23.01.2022 A huge shout out to @uncledavidscafemelbourne in the CBD who delivered delicious food to us here on the northern outskirts of town. #eatingmywaythroughlockdown

22.01.2022 Working my way through this during school pick-up time. It has given me a language to use to describe the mobility aspect of my military upbringing. Highly recommended to anyone who has spent any time on the move.

22.01.2022 ISO done in style thanks to @yarravalleychocolaterie and @debortoliwines.

21.01.2022 Every now and then everyone else’s memory of my mum clouds my own. That’s when I know it’s time to re-read the weekly letters she wrote to me while I was away at Uni.

20.01.2022 ISO fun: Uno over FaceTime.

18.01.2022 Loving the growth of #spoonvilledoreen. Have you got this one on your list, @cathlandrews?

16.01.2022 Look who’s riding shot-gun.

13.01.2022 Ordered in pub-style dinners tonight so this weekend’s cocktail/mocktail is the Aussie pub classic: The Lemon, Lime and Bitters.

12.01.2022 A few things to celebrate at the end of this week. And if I have the Flinders glass out you know I’ve just hit another PhD target.

12.01.2022 Spoonville has grown since we saw it (looking a little washed out) last week.

12.01.2022 This week’s cocktail: The Cosmopolitan. Inspired by @pheonie_me who made one a few weeks back, and by the fact that I had all the ingredients in the house (unlike cocktail glassware, which is hard to get within 5km of my home).

11.01.2022 The Premier declared a State of Disaster a week ago, but I look at this sky and find myself in a State of Shakespeare. ‘Look, love, what envious streaks do lace the severing clouds in yonder east...’ (Romeo, ‘Romeo and Juliet’.)

11.01.2022 Oh my. With Augustus Gelatery opening near our home this weekend, our waistlines are in trouble. Thankyou, @augustusgelatery, we’ll be back to try all the other flavours soon. #eatingourwaythroughlockdown

09.01.2022 Maybe I should just write my entire thesis here on the couch.

08.01.2022 Doggy mischief.

08.01.2022 Moody Melbourne morning skies are not in lockdown.

06.01.2022 A cocktail’s answer to the frappe: The Mudslide. It’s going to be hard to go slowly on this one.

06.01.2022 When life gives us lockdown, I make cocktails and the teen masters her coffee art. #lockdownskills (@solivvi27 )

05.01.2022 You’ve done it again, @riversofyarrambat! Thanks, team, for our awesome home delivered Father’s Day BBQ box. Mains is all gone, so it’s onto the donuts next (once we have room). #eatingourwaythroughlockdown

05.01.2022 Supporting local businesses has never tasted so good. @riversofyarrambat @blackvicecoffee

05.01.2022 Time to write an abstract.

05.01.2022 This just arrived in my mailbox. A beautiful, eclectic collection of stories from women who share profound commonalities. I’m going to sit down this weekend and read every single word.

04.01.2022 Spending Sunday morning with tea and Carolyn Steedman.

02.01.2022 When your favourite band do a live stream on your birthday. Also - we now have two teenagers in the house.
