10.01.2022 RUOK? . Today my answer if someone asked me would be not really. I also know that so many other people are feeling just like me... . Overwhelmed ... . Stressed . That my cup is depleted . The mental load is just too much . Like Im not doing enough . Like Im doing too much . Worrying are we doing the right thing . This year has been a bitch of a year but hopefully we are getting to the other side . And when I ask...RUOK? I really want to hear your answer! . I saw this and it absolutely sums it up on how to respond . #Repost @kasey.rainbow with @repostsaveapp With tomorrow being RUOK? day, I want to shine a light on not only how important that question is, but how important your response is - especially if they say they are NOT okay. Now, by no means am I qualified in anything medical or mental illness related - aside from 15 years experience. But ANYTIME anyone has asked if I’m doing okay, and if my answer is no... This is how I would hope they react. 1. LISTEN Never underestimate the power of silence. Sit with them. Let them talk. Let them cry. And just listen. 2. GUIDE Once you have listened and can understand a little more how they are feeling, guide them to the resources/help they need. Let them know they are not alone and if they permit, hold their hand (physically or metaphorically) whilst they seek help. 3. SUPPORT So important. Don’t just ask them once and move on. To be honest, don’t bother asking someone if you are not going to be there for them if they’re not okay. Because if they’re not, they are going to need all the love and support they can get.
