25.01.2022 My other Student of the Week is FOUR year old Miss Mitzuki. She is a phenomenon! I normally do not accept students younger than 6, for obvious reasons of lack of concentration ability and focus, and short attention span, not to mention reading skills are not well underway until closer to that age, and teaching music in my Studio means the kids are also taught to read music at the same time. (No playing by ear training here!) I made an exception for Mitzuki. She is amazin...g. Concentration? Tick. Musicality? Tick. Rhythm? Tick. Note Reading? Tick. Prodigy? I think so. Tick! Watch this space. And, Maestro Mark Eager, boy, are you in for a treat when you conduct your annual Masterclasses! #lookoutcarnegiehall #astarisborn #onlyfour #minivirtuoso

24.01.2022 Here is a lovely event to come along to tonight if you fancy a brief respite from all the intense practicing leading up to this final week before annual AMEB exams! I performing Gypsy Swing music!

22.01.2022 It's that time of the month again.....CLASSICAL FEAST at Elixir! This Saturday we feature accordionist supreme Chris Burcin, not only on his "squeeze box". but ...also as Crooner and Swooner! Chris has a voice that makes grown women weak at the knees, (but mostly because we have aching bones at our age!) Seriously, a show not to be missed! Join us as pianist Kevin Scott and I back Chris and also perform a set of tango favorites for violin and accordion. Dancers and Revelers- you have been put on notice! Can't wait! See more

15.01.2022 Kirtley Leigh was invited to perform at iconic Raffles Hotel Singapore last August. She enjoys an active performing career, which keeps her teaching level at the top!

12.01.2022 Welcome back to the final term of the year for the Studio! Everyone got off to a great start last week. Mimi sure loves attending all the lessons, waiting her turn to serenade us! I wonder which case is her favorite? She’s been hiding in just about everyone’s so far!

11.01.2022 This week as end of Term approaches, I have to give commendation to all my Private Studio students for their hard work and practice. I would like to announce two Students of the Week - firstly, congratulations to Miss Leah Goode. She was struggling initially over her various fingering patterns to differentiate between the major, melodic, or harmonic minor scales. I then taught her the relationship between tones and semitones and how we use them as building blocks to create... all Scale patterns. So.......Leah went home after that lesson, decided to devise her own chart and table the 3 Scale structures! She returned to her lesson today having not only mastered the 3 types of Scale pattern, but also proudly produced this chart to show me her understanding! Bravo, Leah! I was bowled over by your outstanding presentation and hard work to finish the Term! See more

08.01.2022 We interrupt this newsfeed to bring you an exciting special announcement: the Annual AMEB Exams results are in, and we have a Music Studio FILLED with excellent certificates! FABULOUS results everyone! From Violinists , to Pianists, , to Cellists, from Preliminary to Grade 8- all As and B+s! I couldn’t be a prouder or happier teacher! CONGRATULATIONS That’s another year of excellence in music done and dusted! Now accepting bookings for Term 4 Music in my Studio.

05.01.2022 Meet my youngest, and newest student in Kirtley Leigh Private Music Studio! Here is sweet Miriam, aged 4, "improvising" on her 1/4 size violin and performing her special rendition of "Twinkle Twinkle". Awwww, what's not to love? Starting students at such a tender age requires flexibility and good lateral thinking from the teacher, as well as getting quite creative with different ways to encourage and sustain sheer love of music and develop violin good habits early too! Miriam is a real doll, and I love welcoming her and her Mum, Laura, to lessons each week. Mum learns alongside, but (wisely) chose to take a back seat for this future star's video!

05.01.2022 A great big BRAVO to all my students who have completed their AMEB exams yesterday on violin, cello or piano! You all did brilliantly and I’m very proud of each and every one of you. Now the waiting for results and certificates begins! Keep practicing- one day you may even get to Carnegie Hall! Thank you, also to studio accompanist Kath Burdett. We couldn’t have done it without you!

04.01.2022 All new enrollment lessons booked and pre-paid term in advance will receive a discount! Reserve a lesson time now, as availability for Term One filling fast.

02.01.2022 Ahhhh for LA DOLCE VITA.......Ravishing, Passionate, Intoxicating....Scintillating....Just like a Fellini Film.......... Please join Chris Burcin and myself... this Saturday night at Elixir Tapas Bar for pure indulgence in my next concert for the popular "Classical Feast" Series. In "La Dolce Vita", Chris (accordion and keyboard) and Kirtley Leigh (violin) will take you on a musical journey through the most ravishing pieces from Sicily, Italy, France, Spain and Argentina. This is an evening to spoil yourself in every way! Bookings with Sky Riki Rixon or Bill Shields. Get in early to book a table, as our last two concerts in the Series sold out! I hear that Elixir has a new menu too, so the food and drinks (try the infamous "Kirtley Leigh cocktail) ) will be stupendous! See more

02.01.2022 Our eighth annual Music Camp was a wonderful success, with concentrated quality musical time to reap the benefits of lessons, workshops and masterclasses from world-class Maestro Mark Eager! A big thank you to Mark for his gift of musical knowledge, insight, experience, passion, dedication, energy and drive- (and even for his incessant jokes,) which kept the students and me enthralled and enthusiastic all weekend. He is a genius at what he does! Thanks, too, to the students for practice and determination and their parents for giving your child these opportunities! We all had such a fulfilling and fun weekend. Mark, we shall miss you -Bon Voyage!
