25.01.2022 JobKeeper employees can be directed to work less hours, or change their duties or location of work in some situations. Safeguards apply and there are also rules... about how you should be notified and consulted about the changes. Your employer needs to: 1. notify you in writing at least 3 days before they give the direction (unless you genuinely agree to a shorter timeframe) 2. consult with you (or your representative) about the direction and keep a written record of the consultation 3. give the you the direction in writing. Weve got templates for giving JobKeeper directions, and our myth busting videos here: https://coronavirus.fairwork.gov.au//tools-and-resources-d
24.01.2022 SCAM ALERT Were seeing a growing number of people making large payments for fake tax debts. Dont get caught! 24.01.2022 With changing work arrangements, it can be difficult to keep track of your leave entitlements. Especially if youve been using some paid leave to top up how muc...h youre being paid while youre under a JobKeeper enabling stand down. Just remember, for the time youre on paid leave, youre not on a JobKeeper enabling stand down. Our Leave Calculator is a quick and easy way to help check how much annual leave and sick leave youve got: https://calculate.fairwork.gov.au/leave

23.01.2022 Your boss doesnt have to put your leave balance on your pay slip, but they need to keep a record of it and tell you if you ask. Your employment records also ne...ed to be kept up to date with other things like your pay rate and any JobKeeper enabling directions that apply to you. Its a good idea to keep a record of these things yourself as well. It can come in handy if a problem comes up down the track. Weve got a full breakdown of the pay slip and record-keeping rules here: https://www.fairwork.gov.au/pay/pay-slips-and-record-keeping
23.01.2022 Creating a coronavirus safe workplace can mean spending extra time disinfecting surfaces, setting up hand sanitising stations and taking other steps. If you ha...ve to come in earlier or stay back later than usual to get things safe and ready for customers, you may be entitled to be paid for the extra time. And if its outside your normal working hours, you may also be entitled to overtime pay. Check your award rates using our Pay Calculator: https://calculate.fairwork.gov.au/findyouraward
23.01.2022 If health authorities identify a case of coronavirus at your workplace, they may give a direction for the premises to be temporarily closed. Your boss should k...eep you informed of whats happening with the business. Depending on the situation and the nature of your work, you may be able to work at another location or work from home. If that isnt possible, you can agree to use paid leave like annual or long service leave while the business is closed. In those circumstances, you may also have the option of taking unpaid leave. Otherwise, your boss may stand you down until health authorities say the business can be reopened. JobKeeper employees should still get the minimum $1500 (before tax) fortnightly payment during this time. https://coronavirus.fairwork.gov.au//stand-down-during-cor

21.01.2022 Bonding with your newborn as a family unit is important. Concurrent leave lets both parents take up to 8 weeks of unpaid parental leave at the same time. The l...eave can be taken in a single block or broken up into shorter periods. It comes out of your total unpaid parental leave entitlement and has to be taken within the first 12 months of birth (or the date of adoption). While the leave is unpaid, you may be able to access other financial support like dad and partner pay through Centrelink. More here: https://www.fairwork.gov.au//materni/taking-parental-leave

19.01.2022 JobKeeper employees can be asked to take annual leave, and we know that many have been. Now that were a few months into JobKeeper, you might be looking at your... decreasing leave balance and wondering whether you can save some leave for when travel restrictions ease. The JobKeeper rules in the Fair Work Act say you can be asked to take annual leave, but you have to keep a balance of at least 2 weeks. So if your leave balance is getting down towards the 2 week mark, now is the time to start a conversation with your employer about whats next. 14.01.2022 The short answer is not necessarily. Your boss can ask you to work reasonable additional hours as usual, but if the only reason youre being asked to work more ...hours is to match the JobKeeper amount its unlikely to be reasonable. When looking at whats reasonable both the business needs and your personal circumstances should be taken into consideration. This includes the impact the extra hours would have on your caring responsibilities. You can refuse a request to work extra hours if theyre unreasonable.
