24.01.2022 Do you ever read something and go.... 'well, I never knew that?' I love those moments and always want to share them to see if anyone else finds those things interesting too. So, here's one for you: - 'Did you know that a horse averages around 3500 jaw sweeps / chews when eating one kilogram of dry hay?' I never knew that!

22.01.2022 Have you ever wondered how far your feed travels before you pick it up at your local feed store? Some has traveled 1000's of kilometers. 80% of our "Simple Fibre" feed mix is sourced in Western Australia. It is grown, harvested and manufactured locally.... For KISS Horsecare that matters!

13.01.2022 Rainy days are for learning! Spent a very wet Sunday listening to Prof. Hilary Clayton where she presented an excellent webinar on The Biomechanics of Equine Locomotion." Thank you to Centaur Biomechanics for the opportunity.
13.01.2022 It is lamintis season, time to keep an eye on your horses. If they are even slightly tender in their hooves they could be suffering from laminitis. Don't forget that once the damage is done, it takes a year for your horse to grow out well connected hoof wall. Some pics of laminitis.
13.01.2022 Interested in learning how to massage? Here is a great opportunity from the best school in the business (yes, that’s our opinion )! It’s for a very worthy cause too

02.01.2022 If you hadn’t guessed I’m a hoof geek But I’m also a fan of keeping it simple and finding easy ways to see if you’re on track or not. Mud is horrible and a h...uge part of UK winters but it is also a great tool for checking your horse’s foot under load. I took these two pictures recently and the second photo shows the difference between the load bearing of a shod horse vs a bare one. You should ALWAYS be able to see your horse’s frog imprinted, whether they have a shoe on or not, as this is a sign the frog is in contact with the ground and able to function properly. If you don’t then you have a very unhealthy foot that will start to weaken over time.
02.01.2022 ‘Food’ for thought! Do you know what you’re feeding your horse or pony?
02.01.2022 How do you know when your on the right spot? Yep thats it!!! Playtime loves her massage after a big weekend of polocross.
01.01.2022 Keen to try our "Simple Fibre"? It is now in stock at Donnybrook Hardware and Garden.
01.01.2022 This is a great little article explaining about the horse's back. What I really like is the explanation about riding in a 'forward downward stretch' to best benefit the horse's back. It explains that this posture is when the horse's mouth is level with his point of shoulder, no lower! It gives the reader a really easy visual to take with them next time they are riding.
01.01.2022 Ever wonder why laminitic horses rock back on their heels?
