25.01.2022 A question I've been asked a lot over the past week is, "how much should I be posting on social media during the Christmas break?" As with all things in social media, the answer is: it depends. (Annoying, I know!)... Is your business open over the Christmas break? If yes, it's a good idea to communicate that, particularly if you're running a sale or promotion. If not, it's a good time to take a break from socials, if you need one. It's a good idea to change your opening hours in your bio or on your website if you do have a shut-down period over the break. Are you launching a new program or product early in the New Year? If so, you may want to keep posting regularly to ensure that you stay top of mind (and top of your followers' feeds) when it comes time to launch. The up side? You can schedule content in Creator Studio for both Facebook AND Instagram now. Finally, are you a bit burnt out? If so, you should definitely take a break. Pop up an "out of office" post or just step away from your phone. The world won't stop spinning if you take a week off Instagram, promise. Photo credit: Deva Darshan

20.01.2022 In 2020, a lot of business owners learned (the hard way) that when your clients can't get to you physically, they need to be able to find you online. The beginning of the year is a good time to do a quick audit of your online presence: Is your website up to date? When landing on your website, is it clear what you offer?... Is your website easy to navigate, and does it load quickly? Is it easy for customers to find what they're looking for? These are just four of the questions we ask when we take on a website build for new clients, and there are so many more things to consider. If your online presence is looking a little tired, or you want a fresh pair of eyes and an honest opinion, get in touch via email - [email protected]
20.01.2022 Gather around, everybody - I have to tell you something important. EVERY digital marketing platform goes through a life cycle of sorts. Conception, gestation, birth, growth, stabilisation, and death.... It sounds a bit morbid, but when you consider that Instagram is 10 years old and Facebook is about 16, it's natural for these platforms to be experiencing a bit of a decline. Factor in the removal of known bot and spam accounts, and you may have seen your followers drop off a little bit. Other reasons your followers have declined may include: Users leaving the platform to join new platforms like Tik Tok; You didn't survive somebody's "New Year, New Me" account culling rampage; Your messaging has changed... or, it hasn't and you're still posting the same content you did in 2010; The people who follow you no longer need your product or service. Followers are one of those vanity metrics that only really make sense when you take into consideration other factors, such as industry, location, engagement and reach. My advice? Focus on producing quality content that serves your ideal client or customer. Whether you have 100 followers or 100,000, there is real power in showing up.

13.01.2022 Burnout is real. Instagram is not. Those behind-the-scenes peeks have been carefully curated, that pouring-my-heart-out post from your favourite business owner has been proof read by at least one other human before being posted, and you can bet your hat that a good percentage of the people who talk openly about their business meltdowns during Covid are doing so as part of a broader marketing strategy to appear #relatable. Life and business in 2020 has been messy and stressf...ul AF. I'm not superwoman. I'm tired on a cellular level. And last month, I hit a wall. I'd been burning the candle at both ends and running on fumes for too long. With businesses being forced to move their operations online, I haven't stopped to take a breath since March. I'm talking complete website rebuilds, launching Shopify stores, updating SEO, video edits for socials and more Facebook ads clients than we've ever had before. Which from a business standpoint has been great, but from a protecting-my-energy standpoint? I'm exhausted. I knew something had to change, so instead of continuing to spiral, I dug my heels in and got to work hiring, creating systems and setting boundaries. You can hear all about how I'm starting to turn things around in Episode 50 of the Marketing Solutions Podcast. Available wherever you like to listen.
13.01.2022 If you send us an email today, we won't reply. Actually, we will: you'll get an autoresponder letting you know that Wednesdays are our 'Deep Work" day, and we'll get back to you tomorrow. I introduced 'Deep Work Wednesdays' in January, after I got the feedback from my team that they just needed ONE day to get through their work uninterrupted. ... No calls, no emails, no 'just a quick question' conversations. Heads down, bums up. This means: I can check in on how we're performing for our clients: how our website builds are progressing, if our latest ad campaigns are performing, if the recent drop-off in engagement is affecting our accounts, and brainstorm strategy ideas for moving things forward. Our copywriter can switch her phone off and create exceptional copy for your website. Our web developer can be meticulous when checking the back end of your site, and not miss something vital when interrupted by a phone call. Our ads guru can map out a really solid strategy that takes cold leads through your sales funnel to a sale, without feeling... sales-y. The result? My team's productivity goes through the roof, you get the best work from us, and everybody's happy! Could your business do with a 'Deep Work Wednesday'? Reach out if you want to learn more!
13.01.2022 We're stepping in to 2021 with renewed clarity, focus and some pretty lofty goals for ourselves and for our clients. If you're looking for some help devising your 2021 strategy, my team are available for one-on-one coaching calls. Email [email protected] for more information.
12.01.2022 Should you DIY or outsource your digital advertising? Great question! This is not a one-size-fits-all approach but this graphic walks you through the general rule of thumb we take at Linchpin when deciding if we'll take on a particular client or not. Not at the stage yet that you should be outsourcing and just getting started? We offer one-on-one consultations for ads. They look like this:... #1 You complete a pre-session questionnaire so we can hit the ground running. You'll also receive some tutorials to watch on Facebook and Google ads to understand the anatomy of the two advertising platforms. #2 Call #1 - we talk about strategy and the assets and tracking that needs to be setup for effective campaigns #3 Call #2 we set the ads up with you step-by-step. You receive a recording of this session so you can revisit as needed #4 Call #3 An ad review and tweaking session. You then receive 1 page of follow up notes to implement. Don't fly blind and flush money down the toilet when it comes to ads. If you'd like more info on our consulting packages, please shoot us a dm.
12.01.2022 Oh, 2020. What a decade this year has been. A big well done to our Melbourne friends who can (finally!) venture out of the metro area as of Monday! I'm not going to lie, I've had my fair share of Covid-induced rage (14 days of self isolation, anyone?) but if this year has taught me anything, it's to enjoy the simple pleasures in life. ... Here are a few of mine: and... more

05.01.2022 A couple of weekends ago I finally pulled my finger out and filmed some client testimonial videos. It's a TOTAL game changer when it comes to website and social media content. We can talk all about how great we are at what we do, but consumers are a lot savvier these days and will often be a bit suspicious if someone is tooting their own horn too much. However, when someone else stands up and tells everyone how great we are then people start to take notice. ... In this mini-episode of The Boom your Biz Podcast I talk about the power of video testimonials, how to get them, what they should say and where to put them aka how to use them! 03.01.2022 We see a lot of our clients getting hung up on likes and follows, but there are two other important metrics that you should consider. One gives you fantastic insight into the type of content that resonates with your followers, and the other acts as social proof. Can you guess what they are? SAVES and SHARES.... Saves give you insight into the type of content your followers want to come back to later - whether that's to purchase a product, book an appointment for a service or to read a longer post later when they have a bit more time. People don't save content they're not interested in, so if you have a post that's getting tons of saves? Look at the image, the caption, the time and day of posting, and when you figure out what it is about that post that resonated? You can repeat similar content and be fairly confident it's going to resonate. Shares act as a form of social proof. Think about it like this: if you see a post for a bar while you're scrolling through your feed, you're less likely to stop and give it attention than you are if a friend shares that post in a message, telling you that their cocktails are amazing. If people are sharing your content, take a look at what gets the most shares and consider all those factors I mentioned above when creating new content. Did this help? If so, share it with your business bestie! (See what we did there?)
03.01.2022 And that's a wrap on 2020 for the Kiss team! My team and I are taking a well-earned break over the Christmas and New Year period, and will return in 2021 to hit the ground running with some VERY exciting new clients, projects and offerings. Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas, and a happy and safe New Year. Catch you in 2021!
02.01.2022 I think it's fair to say that some of us may not read the terms and conditions all the way through when we sign up for a new platform or service. On Episode 49 of the Marketing Solutions Podcast, Tegan Boorman founder of Social Law Co. talks us through the basics of running competitions and advertising on Instagram and Facebook, as well as new developments when it comes to working with influencers and sponsored content. Please note: the information in this episode is intended as general information only, and is not intended to constitute legal advice. We recommend you speak with a licensed professional like Tegan to obtain advice specific to your circumstances.
