08.01.2022 KISS & TELL With The Fox from KISSTERIA - The Australian KISS Show Q: Why Eric Carr and not Peter Criss? A: "It's funny I get asked this question all the time. It goes back to the first time I saw KISS in 1980. Peter had just left the Band and after seeing Eric play Live in Sydney that year, all I wanted to do is play like Eric!"... Q: You play a massive drum kit can you tell us about it? A: "Yeah sure, I play a Sonor Drums Lite Vintage kit which I have owned since 95. It was one of only 3 ever to land in Oz. Its an amazing kit to play. Even better is that I'm adding to it at the moment and i'm sure the Kiss fans will love the new look!" Cymbals are a mix of Zildjian Company Custom Z and Sabian AA" Q:How much of a kiss fan are you? A:" Well lets put it this way, I listen to Kiss related stuff everyday whether its Podcasts or albums. I'm not a collector as such but I do have a couple of original items from 1980 that are cool." Q: Whats your favourite Podcast? A: "That's a tough one but I would have to go with Shout It Out Loudcast , They crack me up!" Q: Is there a Favourite Kiss concert you have gone to? A : "Again another tough one, too hard to narrow down to one but the first one in Sydney 1980 was Special, 95 Revenge Tour with the Hot in the Shade stage, probably the most enjoyable was Kiss at the Enmore Theatre with Tommy & Eric which was up close and personal." Q: Do you have a Favourite era of Kiss? A : "Yes 80 to 94" Q: Why? A: " Well firstly Eric played through most of that, but possibly because that's when I was so into music as a teenager. Eric Singer joined after Carr's passing and I didn't know what to expect but he did a great job in his early days." Q: Anything you want to add? 05.01.2022 KISS & TELL With The Demon from KISSTERIA - The Australian KISS Show Q: How did you get involved with music? A: Initially I wanted to play drums but the kit was way too loud for where we were living so I couldn't practice enough. I was learning some basic music at school and messed around with a bit with the school casio keyboard and my brother's bass guitar.... Q: How did you end up in a KISS tribute band? A: I had started playing bass guitar more seriously and jamming with friends casually. We used to play a lot of KISS stuff as well as some other hard rock bands. I had also grown my hair long. Eventually I answered an add in Drum Media looking for a "Gene Simmons" and went along to an audition for a bit of a laugh. After we played about 30 or 40 songs together on the first day I knew it was going to go somewhere. That was 24 years ago! Q: When did you become a KISS fan? A: It happened over a few years really. I first became aware of them in 1980 when they were about to tour Australia for the first time. Between 1980 and 1985 my brother and I collected the KISS back catalogue on vinyl and really started getting into the band when KISS Exposed came out. Q: What is your favourite KISS book? A: Probably "Nothin to Lose: The Making of KISS" but the Ace Frehley book was also great. Q: Is there a Favourite Kiss concert you have gone to? A : The intimate 2004 Enmore Theatre show. Great set list including "Love Her All I Can" and "All The Way". Q: Do you have a Favourite era of Kiss? A : Personally I like the energy and creativity of the early years 74-77. The Revenge era was also a highlight. Q: Favorite album? A: I don't listen to Kiss as much these days since I play kiss songs every other weekend but every now and then I'll be in the mood to put a Spotify playlist of a few albums together. At the moment I'm enjoying Killers/Creatures/Lick It Up/Revenge. 04.01.2022 KISS & TELL This week we hear from Space Ace Q: Being the youngest member of KISSTERIA - The Australian KISS Show, how old were you when you first got into KISS and why? A : Being a curious kid attracted to anything whacky and off the rails was the norm, I found my Dads vinyl collection that mum said Don’t Touch!, but i had too.... I cant remember how old I was." Q: What was the first Kiss Album you purchased? A; Lick It Up from memory at Collect records in Parramatta when there were still little gem stores like that around.Shout out to Paul & Co from there, where ever they may be. Q: Is it true that as a teenager you seen Kissteria perform and hoped to one day join the Band? A:Correct , I managed to connect with the Star Child a couple of years after I first saw them through other music channels. We both found each other floating around and stayed tight. The opportunity became available years later and it was pretty much a no brainer. Q: Kiss Army fans have said that you resemblance to Ace’s style in 76 is uncanny. How have you perfected this? A: Being such a big fan of the Band early on and the attention to details I guess and seeing how the rest of the guys got it so authentic. I guess the aim was to get things as close as possible to do it justice. Q: You guys were so close to Winning the World Kiss Off final in Las Vegas. Can you tell us about the experience. A: Privileged, Mostly just blown away to be voted in by the fans of the craft from all around the globe that we wont get to meet.I also bumped into Vinnie Paul from Pantera at the Hard Rock which was a personal highlight of the privilege. Q: The Band have been together for over 24 years, why do you think you guys work so we’ll together and is there any chance of slowing down? A: It just works, we all have seperate lives outside of the Band but of course we have that one common passion that is Kiss. 03.01.2022 KISS & TELL with The Starchild from KISSTERIA - The Australian KISS Show What is your favourite KISS album? Hmmm, tough question, but I’d have to go with Alive 1 and/or Alive 2. Those albums pretty much capture what KISS is all about. When i first started playing guitar, i played along to those two albums day in and day out. As for studio albums, Dynasty, Unmasked and Revenge are among my favourites.... You are a co-founding member of KISSTERIA? Yes ! The Fox and myself got the ball rolling some 20 odd years ago whilst we had an original band. Being massive KISS fans and knowing how to play a lot of the tunes, we decided to put an ad out for a ‘Gene Simmons’ and here we are some 23 or 24 years later. What is your favourite song to open the show with ? Opening song would easily have to be Psycho Circus. It has everything, the perfect opener in my opinion. Tell us about your gear, guitars and amp setup? Main guitars I use are Ibanez Iceman PS 120 Silver Sparkle and Washburn PS14 Starfire Silver Sparkle and use gauge 10 and 11 strings respectively. Custom quad with 4 x 12 Celestions and a Marshall JCM 2000, 100 Watt Amp. That’s it ! No effects, straight through, for that Authentic Paul/KISS sound. Favourite songs to perform live? Favourite songs to perform live are Psycho Circus, Do you Love Me, Deuce, Tears are Falling and Lick it Up I'd just like to add that we miss playing for all the KISS fans out there and we hope to be rocking with you all in the coming months.
