19.01.2022 Who ever said that a great event can’t grow out of an idea and a dream!! Last week I attended the Tassie Scallop Fiesta held in the small town of Bridport on the north east coast. It celebrates the local scallop industry. Here’s proof it can happen - now in its second year, the event has grown and matured. Already anticipating next years event and growth.

Welcome by Claire Boan - Mayor of the City of PAE and Rosa Matto celebrity chef and host of food demonstrations. 12:45 BURUNDIAN DRUMMERS From the heart of Africa, let the Burundian Drumming group take you on a learning journey to experience and understand the meaning and the cultural value of drumming. 1:00 FOOD DEMONSTRATION hosted by Rosa Matto Parvin from Iran will be cooking Kuku Sabzi - a traditional Iranian egg dish using traditional herbs. 1:45 UYGHUR FOOD Visit the encampment of the Uyghur Women’s Group from East Turkistan and experience their hospitality and observe the making of Sangza traditional hand stretched deep fried noodles. 2:00 FOOD DEMONSTRATION hosted by Rosa Matto Mirzeta from Bosnia will be creating Pita Sa Sirom and Pita Sa Mesom - two traditional pies one with cheese and one with minced meat. 2:15 ALBANIAN DANCERS The Albanian Folk Dance Group will share some of the original songs, dances, costumes, rituals and customs of Albanian folklore. 2:30 ZULYA AND CHILDREN OF THE UNDERGROUND Zulya and the Children of the Underground are here from Melbourne to perform exquisite original music inspired by Zulya’s Tatar and Russian roots. Their music creates melancholy, beauty and drama while weaving through a dazzling combination of musical styles. 3:00 FOOD DEMONSTRATION hosted by Rosa Matto Bhu from Tibet will be cooking Momos traditional Tibetan vegetarian dumplings. 3:30 ETHIOPIAN COFFEE CEREMONY Visit the African Village Tent and experience an Ethiopian coffee ceremony - an integral part of their social and cultural life. 4:00 FOOD DEMONSTRATION hosted by Rosa Matto Afifi will be cooking a very special Malaysian dish with a dash of French influence - Spiced Beef Steak with Mango Salad 4:00 SOUND OF THE SOUTH Sound of the South is an Iraqi/Khaliji band from the middle-east and specifically the south of Iraq, Basra. The band presents traditional music from all over the Arab world and new ways of merging western and eastern music together. Featuring internationally renowned percussionist Saleh Almansori and his sons. HOME COOK STALLS & FOOD TRUCKS Ethiopian, Afghan, Tibetan, Albanian, Egyptian, Syrian, East Turkistan, Malay, Indian, Russian, Persian, Somalian, Pakistani. MARKET STALLS Sajad - Afghani bakery goods, Persian craft, Henna art, Ugandan craft, Indian clothing, Russian craft and groceries.
