12.01.2022 Our last Themed Movie and Dinner Night. Miss Fisher and the Crypt of Tears inspired me to explore Egyptian flavours. We started with Roast Almonds with Sugar and Spice which complimented the champagne! Then shawarma style lamb chops, garlic yoghurt and a rice pilaf zhoozed up with green capsicum, spices, pomegranate, currants, nuts and fried onion rings. Dinner was remarkably better than the film! 07.01.2022 My latest ‘Iso’ Saturday night was a creative kitchen experiment with French style pork spare ribs dusted with dry spices, braised in red wine, garlic and stock and then finished on the bbq for that Smokey finish. Served with pickled red onion rings, home made fries, and baby cos with creamy tarragon dressing. 06.01.2022 You only need 30 minutes to make your own dill pickles. Sterilise your jars and lids either in a pot of boiling water or hot from the dishwasher. Wash and trim pickling gherkins and place into hot jars together with washed dill, a peeled garlic clove and a few black peppercorns. Make a brine by boiling together in a saucepan: 2 cups water, 1 cup vinegar, 2 tblspns salt and 1 tblspn sugar. Pour hot brine over the cucumbers until covered. Close lid immediately. They will keep for many weeks. Once opened, refrigerate. #feelingpickled #dillpickles #Latviancooking #kitchenjazzpalate
