19.01.2022 Fruit and veggies as snacks give a much bigger nutrient bang for your buck but with school holidays just around the corner kids pester power will be in overdrive especially if they accompany you to the supermarket. It's good to be informed of the hidden sugar in packaged snacks. This infographic from Australian Healthy Food Guide does a good job of comparing some popular choices.



12.01.2022 Counting calories and macros can be an annoying barrier to healthy eating but don't despair because there is an easier way. The healthy plate model (picture in the comments) shows how to layout your plate, fill half your plate with vegetables, quarter of you plate with complex carbohydrates (brown rice, beans, lentils, wholemeal pasta) and quarter of your plate with a protein source (fish, chicken, eggs, meat or tofu). 12.01.2022 Ladies, have you noticed that your having difficulty sleeping as you get older? New research from Columbia University Irving Medical Center has linked insomnia to diet. "The study found that postmenopausal women who consumed a diet high in refined carbohydratesparticularly added sugarswere more likely to develop insomnia. Women whose diet included higher amounts of vegetables, fiber, and whole fruit (not juice) were less likely to develop problems with insomnia. The researchers hypothesized that the rapid spikes and troughs in blood sugar after eating refined carbs may trigger insomnia." Read more of the results - link in comments.
